  • Pyro locked eyes with the angel as she stared up at him. Red clashed with blue for a few moments until he was the first to break the eye contact. "Uh, yeah, we should get some rest before the next run in, anyways..." The demon trailed off, furrowing his brow in thought. He didn't know what form of currency the mortals used. Each one was different. But they would have to deal with that when the time came.

Shaking his head he smiled at her again. "Cmon, let's go."

  • Esme smiled gently and nodded, starting up a slow walk alongside the demon. The silence was awkward as they continued on their way, causing the angel to wish for a different companion, one she could trust in a simple conversation. "Why exactly did you send out these spawns?" She asked carefully, relaxing slightly as a simple hotel could be seen a few minutes away.

  • Pyro turned towards Esme quite suddenly, as if he wasn't expecting her to ask a question like that. He snickered "well, I was bored I guess," he shrugged. The demon eyed the angel "I know you're an angel and all... always doing good..." he extended his arms dramatically "the epitome of purity." He paused, raising his brow "but don't you ever feel like, I don't know, breaking the rules for once? Having a little fun?" He chuckled, nudging her playfully.

  • Esme couldn't deny that idea appealing to her, she hesitated before biting her lip and shaking her head. The life of an angel was harsh and strict, she was being watched and agreeing with Pyro could cause her to fall. Casting a blank look to the demon she quickly distracted herself. "Oh look we're here..." She stated as they stood outside the hotel, a simple building with nothing all that special about it.

  • An amused look etched its way onto Pyros sharp features. For some reason he had a feeling Esme's hesitation meant she thought otherwise. But he understood why she had to refuse him. The male looked up at the hotel when she stated they had arrived. It looked... average he supposed. "You wouldn't happen to have any money on you, would you?" He asked, a bit unsure.

  • Esme sent the demon a look of disbelief towards his enquiry and laughed, the sound melodic as she went up the steps and entered the reception area, not even bothering to answer Pyro's question. Approaching the front desk, Esme sent her signature smile towards the receptionist, a young man in his twenties, his bored look now replaced by a dazed awe at Esme. A few seconds passed before his eyes took on a cloudy blue haze over his original brown.

"One room for two please?" She asked politely, resting her hands on the desk as the boy held out a door key without haste, not asking questions or bothering to charge the pair. Looking to Pyro she grasped the demons hand and dragged him to the elevator. Esme silently prayed that her little act had gone unseen by her superiors.

  • Pyro tilted his head at the girl, watching as she walked up ahead of him an entered the building. He shrugged, deciding to follow after her in assumption that she had a plan of some sort. He scanned the interior of the hotel as he approached Esme's side. The demon glared at the young receptionist, feeling a twinge of something he couldn't pinpoint as she spoke to him. He looked at the silver angel questionably. She's really going to just ask him nicely? And expect it to work?

Pyro looked on in awe as the boy handed Esme the room key without any question. He felt her hand grab his, dragging him along with her to the elevator. It took the demon a few seconds to snap out of it. He shook his head "did you just?" He smirked at her - he had to admit he was impressed. "Well, well, seems the princess has some tricks up her sleeve after all." He teased, crossing his arms as he scanned her over. "Felt good... didn't it?"

  • "Shut it sweetheart." Esme ground out between her teeth, her calm demeanour slipping for a few seconds before suddenly snapping back to place within seconds. "Not all angels are a pain in the ass." She stated, looking straight ahead as they reached the floor for their room.

Walking gracefully down the hallway, the angel paid no hesitation to entering the room. Hanging up the key she groaned at the room. The quality in itself was good and clean, however in the middle of it all sat one bed. Luckily and double but still, one bed. She sent Pyro a look of disdain before biting her lip.

  • Pyro was caught off guard with the angels little "sweetheart" comment. He stared at her blankly for a bit before chuckling "yeah? Not all demons are a pain in the ass either, but I guess we both got unlucky," he joked with a small shrug.

The demon followed the angel to what he guessed was their room. Esme had stopped abruptly in the middle, almost causing him to bump into her. "Hey, watch it..." he trailed off, following her gaze to the bed. His eyes met hers as she gave him a look, one which caused him to sigh. He understood. Pyro broke their eye contact once again, a small blush forming on his cheeks. "Um, you can... take it. The bed I mean-" he stuttered, as if it was extremely hard for him "you can have the bed. I'll take the floor, if you want."

Pyro huffed after he finished. What was he even saying? The demon still failed to make eye contact, shrugging it off like it wasn't that big of a deal.

  • "You keep to your side I will keep to mine, unless of course you're too badass to share with an angel? " Esme challenged with a chuckle, drawing the curtains and locking the door as she finally freed her wings with a sigh of relief. Sending Pyro a simple look she chose her side of the bed closest to the window and made sure there was enough room for the demon.

Out of courtesy the silver haired girl even folded her wings tighter around herself to provide him with more room, huffing as a few white feathers fell to the matress.

  • Pyro chuckled as he watched Esme draw the curtains. She continued to surprise him; and he would never admit it but he was growing kind of used to her company. He thought angels were nothing but goody two shoes, but she was... different. He rolled his eyes at her challenge "so, you don't want me sleeping on the floor?" He mused, allowing his wings and horns to release as well. "You could have just said that, you know." What was he implying exactly? That perhaps the angel wanted to sleep beside him? The thought made him giggle.

He sighed. It felt good to finally stretch out his wings, even though he knew he could only keep them for a short amount of time until the morning. Esme got into bed first. The demon hesitated for a moment, but was quick to swallow the lump in his throat so she wouldn't think he was nervous or anything. Which he wasn't, of course.. The male huffed, slumping down on the bed quite obnoxiously. He stared up at the ceiling in silence, unsure if Esme had fallen asleep yet. He spared a glance at her, although it was hard not to be obvious with glowing red eyes like his.

  • Esme carefully turned onto her side to face away from the demon, her wings shifting slowly to wrap around her almost like a secondary blanket, shielding her body and face as she curled up into a ball, tucking her head to her knees and letting out a relaxed sigh.

"What?" She whispered, loud enough for Pyro to hear. She could feel those bright red eyes practically burning the back of her head and causing her hair to stand on end. She supposed she would have to get used to such a feeling over time.

  • Every bone in Pyro’s body tensed up when the other spoke. “I was just wondering if you had fallen asleep...” he paused, letting out a half-hearted laugh “I guess not.” Pyro furrowed his brows, a thought crossing his mind that he quickly pushed away.

He had a hard time sleeping, even back at home. Most of the time Pyro hardly got any sleep at all. The demon sighed, picking up one of Esme’s stray feathers off the sheets to examine it thoughtlessly. “What’s it like?” His voice croaked due to him whispering “being an angel..” why was he even asking something like that? It looked like the most boring job in the world to him... but Esme wasn’t boring. He couldn’t understand how someone like her could enjoy being around those archangels all the time. He knew he wouldn’t.

  • Esme didn't try to hide her surprised hum from the demon before she released a contended sigh, turning to peer over her shoulder at Pyro, her wings shifting to allow that. "I guess it depends, it can get a little boring, a little strict but it's...well its a situation you've got to make good I suppose." She explained, choosing her words carefully.

Frowning slightly she peered at the demon and bit her lip. Her wings shifted again so she could sit and watch the demon calmly. "Why do you ask?"

  • Getting the answer he figured Pyro nodded. He bit the inside of his lip thoughtfully “you suppose? You really have to be careful with what you say, don’t you.” He stated rather than asking. Clearly she was being watched over at all times. He shuffled in his place on the bed when she moved. Their eyes met, but the demon could never hold eye contact for too long.

He had to think about her question for a moment. He hardly knew the answer himself. “Well, this is the first time I’ve met an angel... like actually met one. You make me appreciate who I am, I guess.” He finished off, not knowing if that was offensive or not. It wasn’t like the demon cared. He turned to his side to face her “sorry for messing up your beauty sleep, princess.” He smirked. And just like that their serious conversation was ruined.

  • Rolling her eyes, Esme couldn't help but smile. Making no move to lie down again she simply tucked her body into a ball with a circle of her wings around her. "What's it like being a demon?" She asked hesitantly before looking at Pyro over her wings carefully. She knew her question would rise questions in heaven but curiosity won her over.

  • Pyro noted how Esme had a habit of hiding behind her wings. Unlike the demon, who always had his wings stretched behind him. He hummed amusingly, thinking for a couple of seconds. A flash of uncertainty suddenly showed within his crimson orbs. It’s lonely... he thought, quickly pushing those thoughts aside.

His amused smile was back within seconds “it’s fun. I can basically do whatever I want as long as I don’t mess with the King himself.” Pyro huffed “I guess it can get boring too... that’s when spawn summoning comes into play.” He chuckled, poking Esme’s wings playfully.

  • Esme shivered at the contact and her wings twitched, smacking the demons hand causing her to blush and stifle a giggle. By now there was no denying the archangels would have serious words with her when she returned. "I don't think I'll ever understand demons." She stated as she tilted her head glancing away from Pyro.

She had sensed his hesitation and despite their differences felt concern towards the demon before her. Brushing it off and respecting his privacy, Esme ignored her worry and carefully smoothed out a few feathers.

  • Pyro laughed when she smacked his hand away. He couldn’t help it, she was just too fun to mess with. The demon propped himself up on one elbow, placing his chin in his hand as he stared up at her. Blowing a strand of ebony hair out of his eyes he shook his head “I don’t think I’ll ever understand angels... why do you hold back? You afraid you’re going to get in trouble? Who cares?”

He knew Esme cared - maybe she cared a bit too much. Pyro didn’t think of the archangels as the punishing type, although he and everyone else knows that god isn’t as pure as he wants everyone to think. “Well,” he shrugged, moving the conversation along. “Seems like we’ll be spending a lot of time with eachother now - a lot of time to understand eachother, right?”
