She was scared. Scared of the river, scared of water, scared of drowning and dying. It almost happened once, she didn’t want to happen again. But what good was a RiverClan cat who couldn’t swim. You’ll never be a real RiverClan cat. You’re weak and useless. No one likes you, even your own cousin abandoned you. Those words, they were originally the words of her denmates. Then, slowly, they became her own words, still directed at herself. They were right. She couldn’t swim or fish or do anything.
I have to prove myself.
Each pawstep seemed harder than the last. She closed her eyes as she padded to the river’s edge. Tears streamed down her face as she approached it. Tealpaw had to do this. She had to swim, to prove that she could be a true RiverClanner, that she wasn’t worthless. Her heart pounded in her chest, her eyes now wide with terror. She ice started to crack under the weight of her paws. I can do this, I can to this… She repeated over and over again in her head. The ice gave way, and she was immediately pulled under by the current. The apprentice attempted to swim, but the water was far too strong, and she hadn’t even been trained yet. She tried to resurface, but she only hit the solid ice above. There was a small hole, maybe, hopefully, it was big enough for her to escape. She reached up, feeling the cold air sting her fur like knives cutting into flesh. She pulled herself up, gasped for air, then continued to attempt to crawl out of the hole. But she was stuck. Something was preventing her from escaping the river. She tried to hold on to the ice as she was pulled under again, and she screamed, praying to StarClan that she would be saved.
“HELP!”
By the time any of her Clanmates reached her, it would be too late. The young apprentice was lost, gone forever.
//omg, I'm so sorry to have to do this. I simply cannot gather any muse at all for Tealpaw </3. She is not confirmed dead, and will possibly return, but for now, she will be assumed dead. It was so much fun roleplaying with all of you, hopefully I can bring her back in the future.
