  • Amara hummed after a moment as they walked, noticing how empty the halls were in this part of the castle. She felt a bit anxious and paranoid for a moment but a quick glance at the Queen seemed to put those thoughts to rest for the time being. She smiled slightly at that realization, although she didn't dare let her mind tread into the territory of what such thoughts actually meant.

The Elf looked at the door curiously, her head tilting slightly as she examined it before Thana pushed it open. At the sight of all the candles lighting up she let out a small surprised gasp, blushing slightly as she entered the room after Thana. She didn't want to seem too naive about all this, even though she was.

In response to the question however a grin soon formed on her face and a glint lit up her eyes. "Y-Yes my queen!" The way she said it made her flush a bit more but she ignored it.

  • Thana seemed pleased with her answer and beckoned her to the sofa she was seated at her legs crossed in front of her. "Come here for a moment." She instructed repositioning herself. The demon queen's charcoal tinted eyes watched her move across the room until she was in front of her. Once she was Thana rose herself up to full height again taking a moment to look Amara up and down, not hiding the fact that she was doing so in the slightest. When she stood up she came very close to the Elf before bringing her hand up to touch the pendant around her neck. Touching it for a brief moment she then smiled and withdrew. "It isn't easy for non-demons to do magic in the demon realm for obvious reasons. Most mortals don't have magic to begin with, but I can tell you do." The Queen smiled thinly before turning around and picking something up off the table.

"Hold out your hand dear." She instructed before putting a simple ball of clay into it. "That necklace should help you use your magic just a little bit easier." She explained as her heels clicked with her going to move to stand behind the young Elf. She put her hand under Amara's. "Now close your eyes and want to make something from this, anything. Make it simple for your first try." She suggested her face close to Amara's.

The Queen waited in silence to see if the Elf could do it. She had a hunch, but of course had not shared that knowledge with anyone. Instead she seemed perfectly content keeping everyone around her on their toes. Thana took a couple steps away to study her face carefully.

  • Amara quickly walked over to the sofa at the command, her eyes roaming the room once more before her attention turned to Thana as she stood up. Her gaze made the Elf quiver, a light flush on her face for a moment as she stared up at the other woman. She didn't make the effort to hide herself as she usually did though, she felt fine with the Queen staring at her; although, she did have to admit that it was making her think a couple of things that she was eager to push into the back of her mind. "I have magic?" The Elf was confused, watching the Queen curiously as she picked something up.

The clay felt rather nice in her hand, cold and smooth. She felt her breath hitch for a moment as Thana came up behind her, trying to ignore how nice and comforting the other felt behind her. She nodded in response to the challenge and bit her lip. "I-I'll try my queen, but I don't make any promises." She closed her eyes and sighed focusing on the clay in her hand.

Then the Elf felt strange for a moment, as if her mind were tugging at the clay. She gasped as it shifted in her hand, almost dropping it in surprise yet she kept her grip on it. She tried to think of something comforting as she focused, opening her eyes after the movement had stopped. In her hand sat a small tree made out of clay, roots and branches that had no leaves jutted out from the trunk in strange yet natural ways. "D-Did I do that?!"

  • Thana stood back to watch her, moving a strand of dark hair from her face tucking it behind her ear. "Do your best is all I require." Thana's voice was quiet and smooth waiting patiently for her attempt at magic. The Queen seemed to have faith in Amara's untapped abilities. She frowned ever so slightly when she gasped and almost dropped the clay. However she remained silent seeming to be testing if she could truly work through the process herself or would need more help. It didn't seem she needed any help though as the clay stood itself up in her hand stretching and contorting into the shape she wanted. Thana nodded her head to the Elf's question stepping closer with a very light amused laugh. "Yes that was all your doing." She confirmed as she looking down at the tree in her hands. A smile spread across her face seeming impressed with her small display of magic.

Queen Thana gave an approving nod. She cupped her hands around Amara's hands keeping her eyes on the tree for a moment. "To answer your question, yes you do have magic. A fair amount of it actually. It will take some time to uncover it all." Her voice was a soft hum as she reached her hand up and ran it down the young girl's cheek. She then turned her attention to the ball of clay in the Elf's hand. "Now I want you to turn it back into a ball." She instructed moving away.

Her heels clicked with her measured steps. Her eyes were thoughtful, she was pleased with her being able to perform magic even though it was her first time doing so. The Queen did not say it verbally, but she sure she had been right in her hunches, which only made the smile across her scarlet lips grow further.

  • Amara's wide eyes scanned the clay tree over for a few moments, no sound escaping her as she observed it. She had done that with magic? She had magic?! Her gaze quickly flickered to Thana as she spoke, a small smile appearing on the Elf's face. The Queen was proud of her, at least it seemed like it to Amara, and that made a warm feeling spread through her chest. Someone so amazing and beautiful was proud of her...she felt rather special. The magic had been an odd sensation, although not an unpleasant one. It had felt natural even though she hadn't ever felt such a thing before, almost as natural as walking or breathing. Just a little concentration and she could do it.

She looked at the other again as she felt her hands cup her own. "How do you know that? N-No offense my queen, I've just never done anything like this before..." Amara trailed off as she felt Thana's hand running down her face, a small relieved sigh escaping her in reaction. She quickly recomposed herself however and nodded, eager to use magic again.

The Elf didn't even close her eyes this time, wanting to see the clay move because of her will. She giggled slightly as the tree started to curl up, forming into a nice smooth ball right in front of her eyes. "I did it! This is so amazing!" She looked back up at the Queen with a bright smile on her face. "What else do you want me to do my queen?"

  • The sigh that escaped her lips made her raise her brow ever so slightly. The demon only responded with a thin smile for several moments. "The world doesn't look quite the same through my eyes, I could sense it rather easily." The Queen gave a very basic explanation, it seemed she might have revealed why she had picked Amara in the first place. But, that wasn't completely the case Thana preferred to keep others in the dark for why she had done what she had done. "Even if you hadn't had much magic at all in the mortal realm it's different here. There is a lot less rules to tie magic down."

Watching in silence the Queen gave another small nod of approval as the clay curled itself back into a lump like it had been before. The bright smile on Amara's face gave her a reason to let her own smile grow just a hair. Thana was more willing to smile with no one present to see besides the Elf. The joy it brought her was almost infectious at times. Pausing for a brief moment she seemed to be considering options. The small exercises she was doing were the same ones that young demons would learn when they first started to show signs of magic.

Holding up her own hand Thana met Amara's curious eyes. "I want you to make the clay float up a little and come into my hand." The Queen instructed. Her hand was only a couple inches away from the girl's. It shouldn't be too hard to do if she could focus and Thana didn't think it would take much since she had already proven to be a very sharp learner.

  • "Huh, well that's interesting." Amara was a bit confused by the simple yet vague answers and explanations. She didn't focus too much on that though, her focus still on the fact that she could do magic at all. It seemed to be rather simple magic of course, just molding clay around, however it had to have been one of the most amazing things she had ever accomplished.

The Elf giggled a bit as she noticed Thana's smile grow, knowing full well she was one of the only people that ever really got to see it. She felt special, although she wouldn't let that get to her head of course. She didn't want to seem vain or selfish. She looked at the Queen's hand as it raised, a curious look on her face.

"F-Float?" Amara questioned, looking back down at the clay in her hands. There was no way she could do that right? Then again just a moment ago she also thought that she couldn't do magic at all. "I-I'll try for you my queen." She nodded and closed her eyes, focusing on the clay in her hand. It took a moment but the ball eventually rose into the air, just enough to move over and land in Thana's open palm. The Elf opened her eyes and smiled.

  • Giving a curt nod she continued to hold her palm open expectantly. Her black eyes watched the ball of clay as it was slowly brought up into the air making the short distance from Amara’s hand to her’s. Once the cool clay landed into the palm of her hand she hummed quietly in acknowledgment. Holding the clay up for the Elf to see when she opened her eyes. Thana could easily just float the object back into the palm of her hand. Still, there seemed to be a playful look in her eyes as she closed both of her hands around the ball of clay. Closing her own eyes the dark stone around her neck began to change color as she did so. Blinking after a moment she opened her eyes and then pulled her hand away.

A small bird sat perched in her hand where the clay had just been. It blinked and looked this way and that chirping for a moment. The demon brushed the top of small creature’s head. The bird spread its wings looking this way and that before taking flight. Rising into the air the bird fluttered away from Thana and made a brief lap around the large room before coming to land on the shoulder of the Queen. Sighing Thana shooed the bird off.

Fluttering off again the bird then finally flew to Amara’s hand. “Pesky things have a mind all their own.” The Queen scoffed quietly watching the tiny creature. “Try turning it back into clay. Cup both your hands over it.” She instructed simply not taking into account that it might seem rather strange to try and change the bird back to clay.

  • Amara clapped her hands for a moment at her success, her beaming grin being replaced with a confused look as she watched Thana put her hand over the clay. She wondered what she was doing, her eyes watching the stone change colored with a small tilt of her head in confusion. She gasped in surprise when she saw the bird, her smile returning to her face. "Y-You just made it into a bird!" Her eyes were lit up in excitement, seeming more like an easily impressed girl than a young woman for a moment. She didn't bother containing that excitement either as she watched the bird fly.

"How did you do that? You know, you just gave it life!" The Elf blushed and quickly spoke again. "I-I mean I've never seen anything like that my queen." She giggled as the bird landed in her hand, petting its head with her finger for a moment before Thana spoke again. "Change it back?" She looked confused but she was willing to try.

She cupped her hands over the bird like she saw the Queen do, closing her eyes in concentration as she let out a breath. She could feel it turning, molding, transforming in her hand as her mind probed it into another form. After a moment she opened her eyes and her hands, revealing the lump of clay again. "I did it!"

  • The Queen seemed to find Amara's sheer delight amusing. The smile across her face grew a little more as there was something about her pure joy that made the Queen remember some hazy past that she hadn't thought about for a while. Her posture relaxed a little bit keeping her eye on the bird. "I suppose I did didn't I?" She hummed the amusement leaking into her words. The small on her face did falter however when she first spoke seeming to wildly excited to realize what she was saying. Thana gave a slow nod of approval when she quickly remembered herself. Only then did Thana begin to consider answering her question her smile returning again.

"It's a hard thing to explain. Of course it doesn't take much thought for me to perform the spell. Although it does take a great deal of energy to do. It is not a spell that most can perform, I have struggled with it for quite some time. This stone seems to be able to help with that." Thinking out loud she wrapped her fingers around stone at her throat. The Queen's black eyes were carefully watching her hands as they carefully as they cupped themselves around the small bird who gave a soft chirp before it fell silent. The Queen quietly watched as she pulled her hands back to reveal the ball of clay in her hands again. The demon stepped closer her heels clicking on the floor stopping to look at the clay. Then her eyes then moved up to her face studying it in detail for a moment.

Smiling softly her eyes met with Amara's. "Very impressive dear." She praised with a light smile. "You are able to reverse it so easily." Humming in thought the Queen looked back down at the clay in her hands before wrapping her hand around her's. She place one hand back over the ball of clay. "Would you like to see what it feels like? Bringing something to life?" Thana hummed inclining her head to the side.

  • Amara was eager to listen and learn from the Queen, she always had been. The warm feeling that made her heart flutter everytime that she saw Thana seemed to be getting stronger, especially now that the two were alone. She didn't quite know what it was exactly, only that it had started when she had first met the demon. It seemed so long ago now, she used to be afraid of the Queen and all that she stood for. She was still afraid, but it was in the background now, like one fears an employer or other authority figure instead of an evil tyrant.

The Elf was broken out of reverie by the sound of the Queen's heels, her gaze soon locking onto the woman as she strode over and then meeting Thana's own after a moment. Her eyes lit up at the praise, another large grin splitting her face as she looked up at the Queen. She felt so warm whenever Thana complemented her, she wanted to do more, to make her queen proud.

The question made the Elf gasp in disbelief for a moment, however it was soon replaced with an excited nod. She still couldn't believe such a feat was possible. "Y-Yes my queen! I will do my best for you, I am at your command!"

  • Her eyes were thoughtful for a moment although a smile played across her lips seeming to grow a little more when she agreed to try. Taking the clay from her hand Thana separated the clay into two. Putting one in Amara’s hands she put the other in her own. After this she took Amara’s free hand and brought it up to touch the stone around the Queen’s neck. “Close your eyes dear. Now I want you to think. Think about what the bird will look like. Picture it as clearly as you can.” As she was instructing her Thana’s voice was soothing and quiet.

Closing her own dark eyes the stone at her neck began to slowly change and shift in color. The clay in their hands did as well moving and shifting on its own. As the stone turned a lighter hue her voice came again. “Now take a breath out and open your eyes.” She instructed calmly breathing out before opening her dark eyes. In front of their eyes were two small birds looking curiously around at each other. Thana smiled and ran her hand over the bird’s head.

She then turned her attention to the bird in the Elf’s hands. “You managed it.” The Queen laughed very softly giving a weak smile of approval. After the two spells she was drained now. Still despite this she was glowing with approval. Holding the bird the Queen yawned wrapped her hand around the stone taking in a few shaky breaths. Once she gained her composure back she opened her eyes once more to look at Amara.

  • Amara watched the Queen curiously as she took the clay into her own hands, a small gasp escaping the elf as she touched the stone. She could feel it now, the magic that the stone contained and released. She didn't know why she hadn't noticed it before, it was a rather strong stone indeed. She nodded in reply and closed her eyes, trying to picture one of the birds she had seen around her home once.

She soon let out a breath and looked down at her hand with a small grin. She had felt the magic flow and the clay shift, and of course her gaze met a bird. She had made a bird, something she had thought only a god could do. The elf giggled and gently pet her bird, marveling at how soft the feathers felt on her finger.

Amara looked up at Thana and nodded, her bright grin seeming to grow a bit more. "Thank you for this opportunity my queen, I couldn't have done it on my own!" She felt a bit tired as well, but her excitement was enough to mask it for now. She did look a bit concerned by how tired the Queen was, but she tried not to be worried. Keyword was 'tried.' "I believe that is enough for one day my queen, shall we retire for the moment?"

  • Thana looked down at the birds standing calmly in their hands before her eyes shifted up to Amara with her voice. It was clear that she concerned for her. The Queen seemed to find this mildly amusing that she was clearly was worried about her, but seemed to be trying to disguise that fact. Smiling briefly she watched the bird flutter out of her hand and land on her shoulder. "I suppose it is a good time to retire." She responded in calm manner although her eyes gave away how much energy she had really lost. Straightening her spine she still held herself up tall. She narrowed her eyes for a moment at the bird still resting itself on her shoulder.

The bird chirped loudly in protest before flying over to the Elf's shoulder instead opening its wings and fluttering them about for a moment. "Come on dear." The Queen smiled weakly for a moment turning to look towards the door. Sighing she realized it was going to be a long trek back to her room.

Still she moved towards the door. Opening the door she continued out of the room looking straight ahead the whole time. Her dark eyes were dim as she made her way into the hallway, which seemed as empty and hollow as it had been before. The Queen briefly turned around realizing that the candles were still burning. Drawing in a deep breath she snapped her fingers after a moment all the lights in the room went out.

  • Amara seemed to barely notice the birds as they moved around, her gaze focused on Thana. She had never seen the Queen like this, and while she doubted it was anything serious, she still seemed ready to catch Thana if she fell. She was a bit tense, yet her smile calmed the Elf down. With a small sigh of relief she glanced down at the bird when it landed on her shoulder, giggling a moment she gently picked it up and set both of them down on the table.

The Elf quickly followed the Queen out of the room, a small gasp of surprise leaving her as the candles went out. Her attention soon returned to Thana as they strode down the hall, she seemed to be checking on her every now and then.

The walk back to the Queen's bedroom seemed even longer than the first time, although that could be contributed to the pair's fatigue. When they did finally arrive back in the bedroom and the doors had been closed, Amara sighed in relief and smiled at Thana. "Thank you again for showing me how to use magic my queen, I-I doubt I would've learned how to do it any other way."

  • Once they had made it to her room she could hear the guards pulling the door closed behind them. With no one left watching she did not attempt to keep herself standing straight up anymore. Instead she pulled out the chair next to the large vanity sitting down with a soft sigh. She had her back to Amara as she began to untie her hair, which would take some time in of itself. She moved her head to look at Amara's smiling face. Despite her fatigue she paused to smile to the Elf in return before turning back to the mirror. "Of course my dear. You are a very quick learner so, it is a pleasure to teach you." As she said this her hands were working their way through her hair undoing the intricate braids it had been put up into.

Undoing the last braid her hair fell into a long black wave down her back. Putting a hand up to her mouth she gave an audible yawn although she tried to muffle it a little. Her attention moved back to Amara moving her hands to undo the stone around her neck. Once she had slipped it off she looked at the stone which had become crimson yet again. Still clutching the stone tightly she stood up. "Amara, you cannot tell anyone about the stone or where it came from. Is that understood?" Her voice was serious and she looked at Amara very sternly for a moment.

She opened one of the drawers picking out a box she slid the stone inside. Closing the box she sighed, not willing to try using more magic to try and hide it better, at least until she didn't feel so faint. She simply put the box back in the drawer and stood herself up again moving to cover her mouth as another yawn came, leaning herself against the vanity for support.

  • Amara smiled at the response, standing near the vanity as she watched Thana curiously. She was still a bit concerned yet at the same time she seemed mesmerized by the way the Queen undid her hair, although she tried not to make her gaze too obvious. She didn't want the Queen to think she was watching her after all. She covered her mouth for a moment as her own yawn rose up, a small giggle escaping her the moment after it was gone. Her gaze soon moved to the stone as Thana slipped it off of her neck.

The Elf immediately nodded in reply, not bothering to ask why she had to keep it a secret. "Y-Yes my queen, I shall not tell another." She was a bit flattered that she was trusted with this secret but she didn't mention it, only allowing a small smile to form on her face at the thought of it.

She noticed the fatigue rather easily, biting her lip in reaction as she watched Thana with a concerned look. "You must be tired after such a long day my queen, shall we slip into the bed?" She asked as she took off her own necklace and undid her hair as well. After she realized what she said however she blushed and tried to correct it. "I-I mean, would you like to go to your bed? M-my queen."

  • Gaining a bit of a second wind she walked closer to Amara standing in front of her for a moment. “Thank you, my dear.” Thana humming, seeming happy to not only see Amara was willing to keep silent about the stone without questioning it.

Black eyes seemed to watch her face for a moment seeming to be judging the intent of her words watching her as she let down her hair and slipped off her necklace. It seemed like then she finally realized what she had said and how it sounded before trying to correct it. A thin smile stretched across the Queen’s face as she stayed silent for a moment. “It is probably best to retire for the night.” The Queen agreed slowly turning her back to the Elf. She started to make her way across the room to change out of the dress she was wearing. The Demon slowly turned her head though still wearing a slightly amused smile at Amara. “I would enjoy your company if you wish to stay.” Letting her words linger Thana turned back around. Her heels clicked as she made her way back across disappearing behind a thin screen to change behind.

Slipping on a rob similar to the one she had the previous night. Emerging again she seemed to loose some of her imposing nature that cams from how formal she normally appeared. Instead of fitted layered dressed and the click of heels was replaced with a loosely draping rob and the quiet pattering of her feet on the floor. Shielding her mouth her hand as softly yawned again laying herself down on the bed. Looking to Amara she raised a brow her dark hair spilled out on to the pillow she laid back on. “Would you like to stay?” The demon yawned again after saying this.

  • Amara sighed in relief for a moment as the Queen stepped away, confident that her slip up had gone either ignored or unnoticed. That though was shattered a moment later as the demon spoke again, causing her to blush a bright red. She worked to calm it down and was satisfied as her face returned to its normal color by the time Thana stepped out in her robe. The Elf looked her over for a moment, trying not to think about how only a few people were able or allowed to see this side of the Queen.

The Elf thought about her offer for only a small moment, quickly nodding with another small flush in response to her question. "Y-Yes my queen. I will be back in just a moment." With that she turned and headed into the other room, the one that was supposed to be hers. She tried not to think about how the bed in this room hadn't been used since she was brought here. She quickly slipped out of her dress and into a nearby nightgown, leaving the room once she was done.

Amara strode over to the bed with a nearly silent walk, the small flush from before still evident on her face as she laid on the bed next to the Queen. "Th-Thank you for the offer my queen." She muttered, biting her lip as she found the courage to meet Thana's dark gaze.
