  • Amara giggled a bit in reaction as she settled into her seat. She hadn't been to a meeting like this before, occasionally her town used to have one here and there but they were never as official or classy as this one was. Mostly it was just the mayor shouting out new decisions in the town square or the marketplace.

The Elf maintained a small smile on her face as the demons began to enter, nodding in reply to the demons that bowed and nodded to her. She glanced at Thana as the Queen cleared her throat and spoke, beginning the meeting.

As the demon began to speak Amara listened intently, a look of curiosity in her eyes. Although she was vested in the report her gaze did flicker back to Thana every now and then, she didn't seem to notice the confusion on the other's faces.

  • As the adviser's report began his words seemed to confuse even the Queen herself before as her eyes again drifted Amara. She studied the Elf as if trying to make up her own mind on something. She then turned to look at the adviser as he continued to speak. "...There has been more portals manifesting. There is the risk that so many portals could cause some issues for both the mortals and us. We do not know for sure though." The demon admitted as the Queen laid her hands on the table lacing her fingers together. "Keep an eye on things. If it causes too much of disruption then we'll have to stop using portals for a while." Thana sighed none of the demons in the room seeming to like the idea that they would seal themselves away from the mortal plain.

"With all due respect Queen Thana we haven't seen any effects on our end from using the portals so far." One adviser piped up. Thana nodded in response. "If that changes then we will deal with it accordingly." She repeated as she leaned back against her chair and looked among the demons who seem slightly put at ease from the idea it would only happen if things started to be thrown out of balance in the demon's realm. The adviser who had stood up to speak nodded and sat down to let the next demon stand up.

"Your Majesty, I have received word that more prisoners have been brought in. Would you like to see them yourself?" He offered tipping his head as he glanced towards the Elf seated at her side. The Queen shook her head without a moment of hesitation. "No I don't need to see any." She decided briefly and the demon nodded sitting himself down to let yet another demon stand up to speak next.

  • Although Amara found herself understanding less and less as the demon spoke she didn't seem to lose interest, only seeming to understand a fraction of what he said. The portals, however, made her perk up slightly as she listened. It wasn't because she wanted to escape or betray the Queen of course, she had never even though of that. She was honestly just curious about them, she hadn't heard of the demons using too much before her own village was attacked.

At the mention of new prisoners Amara's gaze flickered back to the Queen as she waited to hear her response. She wanted to tell herself that it was only because she was curious about the prisoners, but deep down she knew it was actually a small flare of jealousy in her stomach.

She sighed in relief at Thana's answer, visibly relaxing tension that she didn't know she had. The Elf recomposed herself as the next demon stood up, casting another glance at the Queen.

  • The Queen could see Amara from the corner of her eye as she physically seemed to relax when she turned down the offer. Although her face remained fairly stagnant there was a hint of amusement as she nodded for the demon to speak. Thana focused back on the rest of the meeting. The last demon talked about some of the politics, generals who deserved promotion or demotion which sparked a debate as they started to hotly tote one general's name or another. Thana shook her head briefly snapping her fingers together. The room suddenly fell silent as the voices seemed to die out all at the same time.

Several of the demons grasped their throats as if trying to speak, but nothing came. The Queen looked around the room her eyes cold and thoughtful. "I have better things to do." She said simply abruptly pushing herself from her seat. "Come on dear." She said motioning for the Elf to follow as she already was making her way out of the room. Her heels clicking was the only sound in the room although it was clear the demons were still trying to speak as they all looked around in bewilderment. The doors were flung open and the Queen easily carried herself out of the room not looking back once.

She only paused once out of the room to make sure that Amara was with her. She walked along in silence a slight frown on her face. Her black braid bouncing with every steps she took. As she turned to the corner her eyes slowly moved to look over at the Elf as they walked.

  • As the report soon turned into a rather loud debate the Elf started to grow a bit worried, half expecting a fight to break out between a couple of the demons before the Queen ended it. Amara hadn't been around magic much but the way the demons struggled to speak was rather obvious, causing the Elf to glance at the Queen in awe.

She was quick to get up out of her seat to follow Thana, taking a moment to bow to the demons in the room before scurrying out and keeping pace right behind the Queen. She lightly hummed under her breath, looking up to meet the other woman's gaze with a small smile.

"That was a rather interesting meeting my queen." She spoke once she was sure that Thana was the only one that could hear her. "And that magic at the end was amazing! I didn't know that was even possible," she giggled, "it's easy to see why they quiet themselves for the most part."

  • She kept a rather serious demeanor until she heard Amara behind her. Turning her head as she walked a smile was evident on her face although she had waited to show it until it was just the pair of them. "It seems to be most effective way to get them to stop squabbling." She sighed softly waving her hand in the air as they continued to walk. "It is quite a handy trick." Thana continued to smile as the corridors started to get bigger before leading into a large dead end. There was a massive window on one wall, but otherwise it was empty.

"Now we should be off." The Queen stopped in the middle of the room. She lightly touched the air in front of her before slowly closing her eyes. Drawing in a deep breath she took another step. The stones began to shift and move under her feet. The Queen slowly stepped back as the stone was still shifting and moving.

After a few moments the stones on the floor had rearranged themselves in a winding staircase. A smile was still visible as she took the first step into the darkness. Then she held out her hand to the woman. Once she took Amara's hand she began to slowly lead the way into the darkness. Her heels clicking on the stone stairwell.

  • Seeing Thana's smile seemed to make Amara's grow in reaction, a small giggle leaving the young Elf. She nodded at the reply, another small giggle leaving her. "It was kind of funny seeing them fighting one moment then completely silent the next, it certainly seemed pretty effective back there." The Elf had been completely baffled by the magic, although it fascinated her at the same time.

"Off? Off to where..." She trailed off as she saw the stones moving, watching them in another fit of awe and curiosity. It seemed like the Queen always had another trick up her sleeve, atleast it seemed that way to Amara. When she noticed the outstretched hand she eagerly took it, intertwining their fingers with a small blush and a large smile.

She followed right behind the Queen as the pair ascended the stairs, giving her hand a small squeeze as they stepped up into the darkness of the stairwell. The Elf was a bit nervous but she trusted Thana, she highly doubted anything dangerous awaited them.

  • As Thana led the way up the stairs she would ocassionally glance back in the darkness, even though she couldn't see the Elf it seemed to be becoming a habit of her's to check on Elf often to make sure she was safe. Forging ahead in the darkness she took each step carefully while still locking her hand with the other's. Thoughtful and focused for a while the Queen traveled in complete silence. Her heels clicked away with each careful step they took. The Queen paused when the darkness began to fade the closer to the top of the stairs they became.

At the top of the stairs Thana pushed open the door with her free hand leading the way in. When the door swung open it revealed an old demon sitting on at a work bench his back to them. He turned his head as he heard the door creep open. Turning around he didn't seem the slightest bit surprised about the Queen being there. Nor did he bow or move from his work station. "It'll be ready in a moment. Take a look around if you feel so inclined." He muttered rather nonchalantly.

The Queen stepped into the room seeming to almost forget she was still holding hands with Amara. She started to look around the room where several pendants and necklaces were laid out. "See anything you like?" She hummed as she glanced over to the Elf beside her.

  • Amara could barely see the step in front of her in the darkness, however the click of Thana's heels and the way their hands were together made enough of a guide that the Elf didn't falter every once as they ascended. As the darkness faded she sighed in relief, following right up after the Queen into the room.

She spotted the demon almost instantly and almost dropped the Queen's hand, however when neither the demon or the Queen herself drew any attention to it she relaxed and left her hand where it was. It was nice and warm like this anyway. The Elf had a look of curiosity at the demon's words, glancing up at Thana.

At the question Amara's gaze turned to the jewelry that was around the room, humming in interest at a couple of the pendants. She approached one that had a silver chain and blue circular gems inset into the silver.

  • Thana followed her as she looked around at the different pieces of jewelry. She didn't seem to mind holding her hand or being seen holding her hand by the old demon. When Amara showed an interest in one of the pendants she released their hands before she slowly leaned forwards to cradle the pendant and chain. The Queen then stepped behind her pushed her hair to the side. She put the necklace on Amara fastening it in the back before stepping back to look her over. "I think it suits you. Take your time looking." She said softly with a very light hint of a smile.

"Alright I'm almost finished come tell me what you think." The old demon's cracked voice called out which turned the Queen's attention back to him. She nodded slowly before beginning to walk over to the demon's bench. She turned back to Amara for the time being seeming more focused on whatever the demon was working on for the queen.

She leaned down to look at it closer. Tipping her head to the side her dark eyes were studying the item closely. Narrowing her eyes she hummed still not giving any indication whether she liked it or not for a time. "I think it will do." She said rather simply before turning back away to go back towards the Elf.

  • The Elf almost squealed in joy as the Queen helped her get the necklace around her neck, smiling at Thana with a small flush. "I will, thank you." She nodded, fiddling with the necklace for a moment as Thana turned away. Soon though, her gaze returned to other jewelry in the room.

She let out a curious him as she heard the demon soeak but Amara's gaze never drifted over to him, she was still in a bit of awe at all the jewelry. She had never really seen so much, let alone such expensive looking ones, jewelry in one place like this before. Not even at her town's jewelry store.

After a few more minutes of browsing the Elf's curiousity was finally piqued as she glanced over at Thana. "If I may ask my queen, what is he working on?"

  • Thana had paused to look at some of the jewelry although she didn’t seem particularly seem extremely interested in any of them. Truthfully, she had all the jewelry she could possibly want. Her eyes only left the displays when she heard the Elf’s question. Arching an eyebrow she turned to look over at her. “He is making a special necklace for me. A rare gem was recently discovered that I’m having him make into a necklace.” She explained tapping her claws on the glass cases.

The demon hearing this tapping winced at his work station, but still didn’t turn around. It was several moments before he actually turned himself around. The demon’s face was weathered and he had grey fading hair. Smiling he held the necklace out for the Queen to inspect. Stepping closer the Queen hummed softly walking closer.

It was a scarlet red stone that hung on a silver chain with smaller gems surrounding it. As the Queen stepped closer the color of the gem slowly shifted from scarlet to dark red. She nodded slowly taking the necklace from him. “Thank you.” She said briefly before turning her attention back to Amara. “Did you find anything you like?”

  • Amara made a hum of interest as the answer led to a couple new questions in her head. What was this stone? Was it magic? Where was it found? The Elf's grin seemed to grow as she grew excited at the prospect of this mysterious rare gem. She didn't seem to mind the tapping, shooting the Queen another small grin.

She did glance over at the demon as he turned around, but she looked back at the various jewelry after a moment. The Elf liked all the jewelry in the room to be honest, but the necklace she had now was by far her favorite one.

The Elf's gaze flickered back to the demon and Thea as the necklace was finally revealed, a surprised hum leaving her as her eyes widened. It was strange yet very beautiful, she snapped back to reality at the question. "They're all very pretty my queen, I must say this one is my favorite though." She said, glancing at her own neck.

  • “Add that as well.” Thana nodded very softly motioning to Amara’s necklace before looking back at the demon who nodded slightly and turned to write something down briefly before turning back. “Thank you, you will get payment very soon.” The Queen now took the necklace cupping it in her hands. “Come on dear.” She hummed lightly as she closed one hand around the precious jewel.

Coming to the top of the still dark staircase she opened her hand out to offer to the Elf as they made their way back down. The climb was more difficult on the way down since it was hard to see one step and the next beyond that. When they reached they bottom of the stairs the Queen pulled Amara into the light of hallway.

A smile spread across her face as she looked over the Elf. “The necklace looks beautiful on you Amara.” She said softly before she opened the palm of her hand holding the strange stone in it. “Would you help me put this in dear?”

  • Amara glanced back at the Queen at that first remark, a surprised and questioning look adorning her face as she did so. Her hands were fidgeting with the necklace for a moment, seeming to not believe Thana at first. However as the Queen walked away and beckoned her to follow, the Elf slightly bowed to the demon as a silent thanks before following Thana.

She eagerly took the Queen's hand as they made their way down the stairs. She stumbled a bit here and there, but other than that she managed to follow the other woman down the stairs rather easily. She sighed in relief as they made it back into the hallway, smiling at Thana.

Amara blushed at the compliment, glancing away and muttering a thanks before she looked back at the Queen and nodded in response to the question. She carefully took the necklace as she moved behind Thana. The Elf hesitantly fixed the stone around the Queen's neck, having to look up due to the height difference. "And...there! All done my queen!"

  • Thana touched her hand to the necklace as it was secured around her neck. Giving a nod she turned to face the Elf the stone around her neck began to turn back to the deep red it had been before. Closing her black eyes for a moment she drew in a deep breath before opening them again. When she did they were a crimson red. Readjusting the stone she clutched the stone in her hand. Drawing in another deep breath her eyes slowly began to bleed back to the black color it normally was. AS her hand dropped away from the stone. The stone then was revealed to be pitch black now as well.

Seeming satisfied she smiled for a moment. "I think the rest of the day is free." The Queen hummed lightly as she looked to Amara. "Anything you would like to do?" The demon asked smiling and her slightly sharpened teeth. Still, her expression was fairly relaxed and calm when she looked upon the Elf.

Tapping her finger to her chin she thought for a second. "I could teach you some magic if you would like." The Queen suggested moving her hair back to how it had been before.

  • Amara tilted her head curiously as she watched both Thana and the stone, the shifting colors seeming to catch the Elf off guard. An audible sound of surprise, although they were rather tiny, seemed to escape her as she witnessed the display. She seemed to be rather intrigued, especially once it was all over. "Th-That was amazing my queen." She giggled for a moment.

At the question the young Elf paused and hummed for a moment as she thought. She supposed there was always more to see in terms of the castle, and the entire dimension itself honestly.

At the mention of magic though Amara gasped, her eyes lighting up as she grinned. "R-Really? That would be amazing thank you! I-I mean thank you for the opportunity my queen." She corrected herself, laughing under her breath nervously for a moment.

  • The Queen covered her mouth giving a very quiet giggle hearing the excitement over the thought of learning magic. "Alright then we should find somewhere quiet." She seemed to be trying to consider places they could possibly go. A slight smile tugged at the corner of her mouth. "I think I have a place in mind." The Queen then stepped away to start to walk back down the hall they had come down earlier.

Her heels clicked on the hard floors as she moved along her eyes looking straight ahead as they walked. They passed several servants who didn't seem as surprised now to see the pair together although there were a few that still seemed to slow down to steal a glance as they walked past.

Continuing down the hallways she made a few turns along the way seeming to go further and further into the bowels of the castle. Her hand went to her necklace again clasping around it as they walked.

  • Amara nodded in agreement, her excitement settled into a large grin adorning her face as she listened to the Queen. She was quick to follow after the other as she began walking back down the hall, her soft steps accompanying the sharp click of the demon's heels.

The Elf lightly hummed under her breath as they walked, her grin now settled into a contempt smile as she walked with Thana. She nodded in acknowledgment to the servants they passed, idly wondering if some of them were still confused by her presence. Although at this point, it seemed that word had gotten around a bit at the very least.

She glanced around a bit at the various hallways and doors that they passed, considering what they might contain for a moment yet she didn't bother stopping or slowing down to find out for sure. Her attention turned back to the Queen every now and then, a curious look on her face when she noticed the other touching her own necklace.

  • The further they moved into the interior of the castle the fewer servants and guards they came across until the halls seemed almost to become abandoned. Thana still clutched on to the stone around her neck as they walked her heels filling the halls as she moved. She glanced over her shoulder occasionally before she stopped after one of the doors that had a long black scorch march on it. She smiled as she touched her hand to the mark before she pushed the door open. Despite how narrow the halls were when she opened the door it revealed a large interior room. Thana stepped into the room.

Snapping her fingers the candles in the room seemed to light all at once. With the room now more visible it was a larger room with a high ceiling. There were book shelves lining the walls with a desk on either side and seating around the room. Walking in she hummed for a moment as she went to stand beside one of the couches in the far side of the room. It was not as lavishly decorated as the rest of the castle, it was rather plain in comparison.

A thin smile played across her lips. "Are you ready to learn some magic?" She hummed softly as she released her hand from the stone which was still pitch black as it hung around her neck.
