Flame watched as the sun burned up in the sky. As it drifted up and out of its nighttime nest, it announced morning with the brilliance of light. In a way, it gave Flame a sense of satisfaction; his powers didn't extend up beyond the earth, but each and every morning he was reminded that fire nonetheless held dominion over the sky. The fires he created glowed through a spectrum of colors -- from dandelion yellow to rusty orange to crimson red -- but the skies somehow managed to also pass into pinks and purples. Regardless of how often he saw a sunrise, Flame was certain that he would never tire of it. Even as he turned forty, fifty, sixty!, he would never find it within himself to disdain the grand, fiery displays of fire above. Out of the sheer joy of it, he allowed a grumbling purr to rise within his throat. He loved his element, his abilities, and the sun's daily heralding of colorful fire.

As Flame watched the sun rise, it soon became apparent that he wasn't the only one awake. As he walked leisurely through the grasslands, he could see a small and vibrant bird flit about, making her zig-zagged way towards the border of trees before him. He recognized her to be the pleasant, if peculiar, Two-K. Though they had been in acquaintance for a generous amount of time, he had no idea what her true name was, simply aware of the fact that it was undesirable enough to warrant a nickname. They momentarily exchanged glances as she flew, a small and silent greeting, before she disappeared into the trees. Soon enough, they would be joined in the land of Awake by a host of others. For the time being, however, Flame decided to relish the morning calm.

  • Legend trotted through the forest, warming her muscles. She generally was awake for hours before the sun rose, getting ready to meet the day. Sleep tended to be elusive to her, but she never had troubles with it being so. But she stopped mid step at the sound of other beings moving through the trees. The flapping of wings and crunching of paws against grass caught her attention. She took a step backward into the bush, lowering her head, ears back. She liked to be a little known figure in the forest. She trusted no one immediately, but was quick to offer help and protect others. Though the two personalities were mostly contradictory to each other, she got along fine. She intended on keeping it this way as well. She barely knew anyone, and almost no one knew her. She preferred the silence of her loneliness than the company of many. Not that she had any experience with the ladder, she was a loner and knew not what other's almost permanent presence was like. But once in the cover of the bush, she continued to proceed with caution and curiosity. After checking that the wind was blowing towards her, as to not alert the other creature of her presence, she slink forward. After a while she could see that what was walking around was in fact a lion. She crouched in the bushes, staring at a branch ahead of him instead of the lion so that he wouldn't fell her gaze as she watched him.

  • Evette & Chi

    thirty-five, female twenty-four, male

The vixen was among the grasses that often held more height than her, their tall blades easily masking her faded red and graying white coat. While the fox wasn't exactly of the elderly age that emaciated her, her age was apparent in her lack of patience and grouchy mumbling in the mornings. The mornings didn't bother her at all though, it was her daily ritual to shake off the sleepiness that had her slightly moody. As long as she was left lone for a good part of the first rays of the day, she was tolerant. The big ears on the fox swiveled like satellites honing in on sounds and vibrations, there had only seemed to be a few individuals up. Perhaps it was a good thing, not many souls would be up and liable to bother her before she was ready for the day. A breeze then suddenly whisked near her, making the grasses bend for only a few seconds before tottering back to how they naturally stood. Her ears too had swayed for just a few seconds also and easily alerted. That damn rascal, running this early in the morning. It may or may not have been truthfully early, but it was early for Evette.

Chi was obnoxiously blazing through the dew decorated grasses. Unless the grass had been mowed down to the ground by the herbivores, it wasn't likely that many could see he was after a small rabbit. Prior to this point his brown eyes had opened up to the critter cleaning itself right next to his own sleeping form. Chi could only believe it was luck or a blessing and felt the need to seize the opportunity and catch the vermin. It was an easy breakfast surely? And yet this little guy was putting up a real fight. The young cheetah was too involved in his hunt to pay too much mind to the others already awake.

She groaned as the sunlight assaulted her tiny eyes, but warmed her body and brought an odd fuzziness to her brain. Odd The sun was usually warmer than this-

Icy eyes open to reveal to their owner a landscape unfamiliar. She was beside a river, and spotted a group of trees to the west of her.

Wh-where am I...? Her tail curled between her legs and she whimpered softly, flattening her ears and looking around.

This wasn't home. At home, the grass was much taller, and a rusty orange color like her fur, not short and carrying hues of green. And there weren't trees in such vast numbers like to the left of her- they were all fairly spaced out. And the sun- every morning it warmed her body from ears to tail-tip. This sun didn't do such a graceful thing.

Gulu took a step and nearly fell over, feeling a sharp pain erupt from her forepaws. She gave a startled chirp and clenched her eyes shut, trying not to cry as her foreleg throbbed in sync with her heartbeat. What he heck had happened to her...?

  • A new sound, which was steadily escalating and growing closer, assaulted Flame's ears. It was the sound of paws pounding against the ground, one which suggested a chase. Then, without much warning, a small rabbit zoomed past him. With the natural reaction of a hunter, he let a paw slip out and cause the little creature to stumble.

Two-K perched on a branch for a few seconds, catching her breath. Then, after the brief rest, she took to the air again and soared back away from the trees. She liked to fly whenever thoughts pounded within her brain, and so that's the action which she pursued now. But, in the midst of her flight, she looked down and spotted a small figure cowering within the grass. She seemed to be in pain. "Hello," she called down, gently descending to the ground. "Are you alright?"

She laid down on her stomach and licked over her foreleg a few times, though it didn't help the pain. 'Gulu laid her head down and was about to rest, though a sudden voice made her jump to her feet, then fall again. Her fur bristled, and even though she was faced with a bird much smaller than herself, she didn't know what kind of element it may have, or if they were hostile. The other's tone of voice pretty much answered the second question, though she was still cautious.

"Uh, y-yeah..." She settled back onto her stomach with her paws tucked under her, the injured one splayed out slightly. She shuffled in place nervously.

  • Forever the hardened intellect and the one to point out the obvious without hesitation, Two-K tilted her head, picking her small feet up and off the ground a couple of times as she adjusted to the feeling of dirt beneath her. "Are you sure? Your leg seems to be a injured." She stopped moving for a moment, coming to attention as she recognized a mistake. "Oh, I apologize. I've failed to introduce myself. I'm Two-K, present and keen on assisting."

  • ∞Taki∞

∞ As Taki's tail moved across her face, she let out a quiet sneeze, shaking herself awake. Taki blinked open her eyes, not expecting the sudden sunlight. She stood up and stretched simultaneously, finally taking a few strides out from under the bush as she adjusted to the brightness. For the moment, there weren't other animals that she knew of in the area. She knew that a few animals in the same forest possessed the same power as she – the ability to use the elements to one's pleasure. She herself was gifted with the use of fire, being able to manipulate it however she liked. The first few times she tried to harness this power resulted in the forest almost burning down. Thankfully, someone was there to quench it out. Now, Taki hardly ever used her fire power, unless of course if she was in a plight.

    Ω Ollie Ω

Ω Ollie raced through the forest, loving the feeling of the air hitting at his face as he sped up. It was a routine of his to go sprinting around the trees until he reached a little creek. As he ran, he allowed for little flowers to pop up as he touched the dirt floor, creating a beautiful path of wildflowers. He slowed down as he came to the creek, dipping his mouth into the water for a drink. The sun was beginning to rise above the horizon, allowing light to come across into the forest. The ocelot let his feet collapse so that he was laying down on the banks of the creek, letting the sun's light fall upon him. "Why can't every day be this bright and warm?" Ollie mumbled to himself.

long black legs were bolting through the tall grass, Sparrow was fully awake as he chased the tan rabbit through the similarly coloured field. his ears were pressed straight forward, tuning into the sounds only of the thudding of his and the rabbit's feet. in a swift moment, he was jumping forward and landing on the creature, making his chest heave as he panted from the chase.

eyes like gray slits were widening as Navishi came to her senses, curled in some scattered bushes that she often retreated to. a yawn formed her mouth into a gaping 'O' and she arched her back to stretch the sleep off of her. it was an active morning, she could hear normal wildlife taking place in their morning rituals. her ears tilted back and forth trying to pick up a familiar sound, something to capture.

  • Legend stopped her vigil of watching the lion as she heard as squeak of pain coming from somewhere. She watched as the bird zipped off to the noise. What could a bird do if the animal in trouble is bigger than it?, she worried. She backed out of the bush and went towards the sound. She stopped behind a tree for a moment, assessing the situation. There was a cheetah, and of course the bird. Neither she considered a threat, and the curious worry she felt for the cheetah would make it hard to keep away long. She came forward, trying to look as little threatening as possible. Getting right to the point she said, "hello. Is your leg injured?" She looked down at it.

  • Two-K looked up as Legend walked over, obviously taking great pains to appear helpful and not intimidating. Perhaps it was foolhardy of her, but the wee bird never felt any fear when interacting with larger creatures. If worse came to worse, she was faster than most animals and could take flight within a split second. On top of that, she would always have the opportunity to use her powers to lash out and protect herself if the sky wasn't enough refuge to satisfy. "Oh, hello there," she greeted mildly.

in search of a snack, Navishi paced through through the tall grass. threatening warmth burned in her paws. her nose was focused on the scent of a mouse that she could tell wasn't too far away, but something else drew in her attention. bird. she twisted and followed the trail into the small crowd, the injured cheetah, the different-coloured wolf, and the small bird all gathering. her wide eyes followed the scene as she neared, flicking her tail and giving a "mrew" to announce her presence among them. "what's the problem?" she tilted her head, though she could already take a guess.

Sparrow was just fine prowling the area by himself, already being fed. he busied himself with climbing on scattered rocks, and slipping through brush. [open for int]

  • Chi easily then grasped the rabbit he'd been chasing inn his small jaws, biting his wind pipe instantly cutting off air supply. While the male cheetah had failed to notice Flame's aid in the hunt, he could have certainly secured the kill by himself had he warmed up instead of bolting right after he'd awoken. As soon as the rodent had subsided all signals of struggle, the carcass dropped to the abnormally marked cheetah's feet and the cat began panting at a also abnormally fast rate. The burden of the fastest sprinter in the world, heat exhaustion from running so damn hard. As he cooled down he looked alertly at all those whom he could see. Flame, Two-K, and many others seemed to have already been moving about.

Evette was about her business as always but of course once her large ears heard key phrases and words such as "hurt" she was immediately wary and her already grouchy face grew scrunched and at unease. It was her job in her eyes, and likely to many others, to patch up and fix anything broken, at least physically speaking. However, there were many times where injuries could have been prevented if the use of common sense had been applied. Like the one time Chi was told to not run through the thorn bushes when he was younger, but the fool ran through it all because of a dare from his past siblings. idiot. And so instinctively the vixen began sniffing and maneuvering her way towards the injured. "Alright," she started with a huff, not too much for sweet talk if you were a regular, "what's the damage".

  • "You're very fast," Flame commented offhandedly to Chi, following him to where the official kill had occurred. The scent of fresh blood and the sight of a nice, fresh kill was pleasant, but he wasn't hungry enough to covet the rabbit. Besides, what would such a small beast do for him? Now, twenty rabbits might hold some allure, but a single one wasn't worth his attention. "Good kill."

Two-K was surprised at how much attention this once small and insignificant scene was attracting. When Navishi approached, she attempted to begin giving a short and potentially unnecessary explanation, but any chance at finishing even a short complete thought was impossible, for yet another animal appeared in quick succession. This newcomer was a familiar face, a fact which was somewhat comforting, to Two-K's surprise. "Ah, Evette," she said, greeting her as her rper hopes that their already knowing each other isn't presumptuous. Saying that she had a relationship with Evette would be nearly false, considering the fact that they knew each other on a far from personal level, but a well-versed healer was often known by many whether they wanted to be or not. "I'm relieved that you're here."

Ingulule-Chhaya was surprised and somewhat intimidated from the arrival of the wolf, then the vixen. She was going to assure the smaller bird that she was fine, yet as the wolf came, she quickly shut her mouth and lowered her head a little, fighting to keep her hackles low and her body language calm... for the most part.

Despite the wolf's friendly voice, she was still cautious, becoming even more so from the vixen's arrival. She wasn't used to company, let along others being truly concerned of her well-being. At least, in her 'area' (which was basically the closest relations the cheetahs in that area had with each other), most if not all cheetah lived along for most of their lives.

  • ∞ Taki ∞

∞ Taki perked up her ears, hearing more and more animals as if a group were forming. She hopped onto her feet and sniffed the ground, going towards the commotion. She finally found the group, all the animals hovering over a wounded bird as it seemed. Taki crouched behind a nearby bush, peering through the openings of the leaves. She could recognize a few of the animals, such as Legend and Flame. Both had powers like she, and so she assumed that the other animals did as well. Of course, she didn't feel comfortable joining the group, not knowing how she could help the bird. She could tell that the bird seemed to be coping well, and there were enough animals for support. Instead, Taki decided to just listen to their conversations.

Ω Ollie Ω: Open for interaction, really don't have muse for him rn

  • At no reply from the cheetah she lay down. She felt weary at so many animals around her, but she looked to cheetah in the eyes. "I'm going to put some water on your leg. I know that that helps me when I'm hurt and I hope it will be the same for you," she said softly. She took the water from the grass under paw, bringing it gently around the cheetah's paw. She looked back at the small cheetah, "does that hurt?"

She and the wolf weren't yet level, though it seemed as close as they would get. Despite her efforts, the fur along her back and neck rose and doubled her size, though she didn't move.

The grass beneath her person seemed to shift, and 'Gulu flinched a little as water began to creep up her forearm... Her fur bristled further, though she didn't dare move, as if a sudden action would make the liquid envelop and suffocate or drown her.

Instead of such, it left a slightly pleasant feeling on her skin, and when none of her speculations came to be true, she slowly let her fur lower again.
