    Welcome to Mallumville, Vermont

    Have Fun in the Forest!

The old, almost rusty sign greeted you as you drove into the woods of Vermont. You were moving to the little, forgettable town of Mallumville to work for their Radio Station. You had your reasons for moving, whether it was just for the wonderful radio program or for more... personal reasons, but whatever it was drove you all the way to the tiny secluded town that hid within the forest.

Of course, if Mallumville was just a little, unextraordinary village, we wouldn’t be talking about it, would we?

No, something darker hides beneath Mallumville. Magic is hidden deep in the woods, some of it good, some of it… darker. And of course, working for the radio news means investigating that darkness. Get ready for the job of a lifetime.

    Welcome to the Radio Station.

  • It was early in the morning, so early in fact that the sun hadn’t even come up yet. Despite the early hour a few residents of Mallumville were beginning their day. As they quitely moved around their homes going through their morning routine the radio came to life. From the radio came a soft melodious voice greeting the early raisers and informing them of the traffic and weather they are expected to face. This gentle voice belonged to Johan Mendle the morning on air voice at the radio station.

Johan himself was sat in the booth reading off the information his twin had place in front of him. There was nothing super interesting this morning except for the lawn gnome disappearances but everyone new that the gnomes had started a new town deep in the forest. So it was really new or interesting. He turned on some of Alyssa’s preapproved music and walked out of the booth to get himself some coffee.

“Sup, Jojo hows this morning treating you!” His twin asked enthusiastically seemingly appearing out of no where. The smile on her face big and welcoming.

“Well Lolo, it’s going pretty good until you showed up. Be careful you might spoil the milk with that bright smile of yours.” He joked as he finished preparing his coffee. As he walked back to the booth he light bumped his hip against Lou’s.

  • Kass Ginny Fox

Kass sat in her office, sipping on hot apple cider and looking over the day's information. She heard the voice of Johan come through her little office radio, and smiled as she listened to the morning's announcement. "Perfect," she muttered. Of course, most mornings went perfectly on the station, but a transmission without hindrance still always made Kass smile. She absentmindedly brought her hand to her locket and, as the morning news drifted into smooth tunes, looked over the resumes of the new recruits. "Three people from the outside joining Mallumville, huh?" Now that was big news.

    Almus Drake Willam

Almus sauntered out of the woods, grinning to himself and listening to the radio coming through his headphones. He had just gotten back from a quick interview with the new gnome civilization - not a big scoop, but enough to cover a few minutes of airtime. He started whistling along to the music and walked back to the radio station, giving a smile to the one or two creatures on the street.
It was a short walk back to his desk at the news department, where he began to type up his findings in the forest. Unfortunately, none of the gnomes were willing to come on the show - Lou might not be happy, since he had promised that he'd find an on-air interview - but the information itself had been fun for him to find, which was enough.

    Beatrice Elizabeth Aspen

Beatrice stood outside of the radio station building, grinning from ear to ear. She had just arrived in Mallumville that weekend. The residents she had met were... strange, to say the least. She figured the morning radio must be a nice fictional program; She heard something about garden gnomes starting their own town.
Regardless of the interesting neighbors or the funny morning stories, she was excited for this place. This town was going to be amazing, she could tell.

The girl walked up the steps and opened the front door of the building, taking her first steps in.

  • Marccus W. Davis -

Marc was what one would consider the night shift on the radio. While he would occasionally come on air during the day with his fellow hosts, his real highlight was his late night program, which had a small cult-like following in town. It had all sorts of stories, some the same as one would hear during the day, other more outlandish. One could say it's when the weird of the radio came out to play. Not that the radio wasn't already weird enough, the late night was when there was nothing held back, what with it's eerie music, and Marccus' melodic tones greeting the evening.

Anyways, Marcus stood down in the lobby, having got off his shift at the crack of dawn around when the male of the radio twins showed up, he was now abe to take a break. And for Marccus that break didn't mean much to him. He was a person who didn't need much sleep, if any. He was somehow able to subside off of an hours long nap and some strong coffee, which would put some doubt into a person's mind of whether or not he was human, if not for his persistence that he was 100% human being. It was as he was about to leave that he spotted a younger looking girl smiling the biggest smile he had ever seen. A newbie, she must have been.

"Hello! Come on in, can I help you with anything?" For being up all night the questions came out quickly as he looked at Beatrice.

    Taylor K. Smith -

The young intern, Taylor Smith sat in the break room leafing through a magazine quietly to herself, having just gotten in the building a few minutes ago and discovering this little gem just sitting around. Her natural curiosity getting the better of her and thinking that there was no harm in just leafing through it very quickly, And no harm was there, except for the receiving of a small papercut as she went to set it down. She cursed under her breath and clasped her lips around her finger as she got up, figuring she should probably do her job, which really consisted of going around and seeing if anyone needed anything. Station Management was her first stop, as she came to the door and gave it a light knock.

  • -Lou Mendle

Spotting one of her news minions Lou may as well have teleported to the young man. With a large smile on her face the female twin perched on the edge of his desk.

“Sooo got anything for my guy?” She asked leaning closer to him.

    -Dave Grimaldes

Dave sighed deeply from within his truck a heavily tattooed hand over his face. He had been driving all night and now he just wanted to sleep. He was so close to the motel he’d be staying in until he could get an apartment but it just seemed so far. His eyelids slipped slowly over his eyes.

“CSSSHHHHHH” The harsh sound of the radio turning on started Dave back into awareness.

“THE HELL!” He yelled swerving a bit before a oddly melodious masculine voice invaded the space of the car.

“I’d like to take sometime to welcome the new comers that have to decided to come to Mallumville. Welcome to our sweet little stink town. We are pretty great and we hope you feel the same. Also don’t feel bad about coming over to the Radio Station. You literally can’t miss it it is the tallest building in like 100 miles. Hope you enjoy your stay.” The radio guy said his words kinda turning into a rant. The guys words also kinda unsettled Dave.

‘How did he know that people were moving to his town?!’ He thought a bit frantically.

    -Johan Mendle

Johan smirked as he greeted the newcomers to town. He may not be face to face with them but it was pretty great knowing he probably freaked the new people out. Enjoying his moment of fun the radio personality went back to reporting some of the early morning news. Looking out off the window into the news area Johan laughed silently to himself as he watched Lou lean over one of her minions.

  • Alyssa chuckled softly at Johan’s words over the radio. He did like to try and freak out the new people. She pushed herself from her desk and sauntered into the break room, halfway through sorting the song list for the next day. The blonde woman gave everyone she saw a stunning smile on her way to her destination, and then proceeded to pour herself some coffee. She took it black, with no sugar. A fact that most people seemed to find intriguing, for some reason.

  • Kass Ginny Fox

The smile melted from Kass' face as a light knock sounded from the door. "Come in," she muttered, and watched as Taylor, one of the interns, walked into her office. "Hello," she said in the cold voice that she always took on at work. She knew the drill. She took the last sips of her apple cider and handed the empty mug to the young intern. She almost chuckled, remembering the bad luck of the intern; hopefully this mug wouldn't get shattered. Kass almost told her that it was all she needed, before she remembered the new workers. "If you see anybody unfamiliar, send them straight to my office, okay? I'm expecting three new recruits to check in sometime soon." She looked over everything in her mind and figured that was everything. "That's all, thank you."

    Almus Drake Willam

Almus smiled softly as Lou walked over to his desk. "It depends on what you want to hear," he answered. He finished up his last sentence on the computer and handed Lou the notes he had written while in the forest. "I met with the gnomes. None of them were willing to come onto the show live, but I got a couple of good quotes while I was there." He shrugged. "Not that it matters too much, though. Nobody cares about this story, do they?"

    Beatrice Elizabeth Aspen

Beatrice looked all around the entrance as she walked in. Even though the building seemed pretty normal, there was something a little off. Maybe it was the ways the walls leaned, or the lighting. She wasn't quite sure, but she found it fascinating. The new girl was snapped out of her dreamy looking as a man spoke to her. found a way to make her smile grow as she responded. "Hello! My name's Beatrice - Beatrice Elizabeth Aspen. I'm new here - to the town, that is, and to the work. So, uh, do you know where I should go?"

  • -Lou Mendle

“Unfortunately my guy. You are right no one really cares about this story. That’s why I was hoping for a gnome to actually come on the show. That’s a little more engaging than telling everyone what they already know. But good work anyway. Good thing it’s only the early morning show. I’ll go give these to my bro. Also there has been rumors of a weird flickering being appearing and disappearing from existence. I think whatever it was stole some of Cassidy’s root beer barrels or something like that. If you want I suggest you check it out. You may even be able to nab one of the newbies. The boss lady wants them all to herself.” Lou explained before jumping of Almus’ desk not even waiting for the man’s answerknowing he could resist such a mystery. She smiled to herself before walking over to the booth and checking to make sure she didn’t interrupt her twin.

As she looked in to the room her eyes met with an identical pair. ‘Ah yes good ol’ twin telepathy of course he knew I was coming.’ She thought flashing a soft smile to Johan.

    -Johan Mendle

“So what do you have for me sis? Is it more about the gnomes because they are becoming tiresome Lolo.” He asked before dramatically throwing himself at Lou. Naturally as if instinctively Lou grabbed her twin before playing along.

“I’m sorry my dear bother but that is all we have. Almus tried to bring one back but the poor boy barely made it back with his life.” She cried equally as dramatic as her brother. The two looked at each other eyes brimming with crocodile tears before they dissolved into laughter.

“Well Lou I better get back to work. You also need to get back to your news minions they need your guidance.” The male twin said chuckling a little as he composed himself.

“Well if that’s all you need I’ll go back to finding blackmail on everyone in town.” Lou explained cheerful bumping her hip against Johan’s before she left.

“Oh wait! Get one of the payless minions to come and get me more coffee!” He shouted after his sister getting a thumbs up before his sister left the booth. Johan took a deep breath before going back to his show.

  • ariel summers - ala - news department - she/her

Ariel Summers woke up in a good mood. That was good for the town; it meant no big storms were on the forecast for that day. She got up, and checked her reflection in the mirror. Her hair was a mess, flying around her head like it had been trying to escape. It took her a good amount of time to brush it out, and she did it as she made her way into the kitchen, taking a jar of fruit she'd cut up last night and popping it in the blender for a nice smoothie. What a good way to start a morning. She glanced at her watch. Oh, she had to go right now. She made her way downstairs from her apartment, hopped in her car, and drove down the station.

When she arrived, Lou was already bothering Almus about something or other. The gnome project, right. Personally, she didn't really care about gnomes that much, because they were tiny and insignificant and she had no reason to bother with their kind. She didn't tell Almus about it, however, because she would be lectured about being hotheaded and annoyed all the time, which she was, but she didn't need to be lectured about it. She approached the two just as she heard the mention of the flickering being. "Hey! That entity stole one of my pens." She frowned. "It was one of the light blue ones, too. One of the pretty ones." She crossed her arms. She didn't have that many pens. It was such an asshole.

    brian cassidy - demon - on-air personality - he/him

Brian Cassidy woke up in a good mood, but that wasn't really abnormal. He usually woke up in a good mood, especially since he had really comfy pajamas on and woke up to a nice song. A lot of people thought he was weird for being a morning person, but that was just how he was. He had arrived at work in a brightly colored sweater, which clashed a little with the purple pants he was wearing, but he didn't mind. He entered the room, and glanced around when he noticed the newcomer! "Hello! You're the newcomer!" he said to Beatrice excitedly. As always with newcomers, he wondered if she saw the third eye. Most others kept their unique parts hidden, but Brian didn't like to. It felt restricting. "Beatrice, right? Nice to meet you! I'm Brian!" He grinned brightly.

  • -Lou Mendle

The female of the radio twins made her way back over to Almus’ desk and was happy to see one of her other minions in the area. She was even more excited to know that Ariel had had a run in with the flickering being. Her hands came in front of her in preparation for an attention grabbing clap only for her hand to meet the porcelain of her bothers mug.

“Storm about time you got here!” Lou greeted throwing herself at the other woman’s back. “It’s good to know you’ve had an experience with our kleptomaniac flickering menace. Cassidy is a few cards short of a full deck I you know what I mean.” It was true Cassidy was never really a reliable source but she was very entertaining. “You and Almus can figure out who gets the case I got to give the higher maintenance twin his coffee.”

    -Dave Grimaldes

Dave was still a little concerned about this town that apparently knew of his presence in it but the more he thought about it the more he pushed it away as his exhaustion messing with him. That was okay too he just got to the motel.

  • Almus Drake Willam

Almus smirked and chuckled softly. "I surrender - Ariel, you can have the flickering entity case." He clicked save on his document, glancing over the typed up notes. He would turn it into a script before the evening broadcast, hopefully. "I have my eye on a different story, anyways. I'm gonna see if I can get one of the new guys for an interview." Almus didn't care too much about the news or the station or what big story he would grab next, but he was looking forward to this one. Meeting newcomers was always interesting.

    Beatrice Elizabeth Aspen

Beatrice turned around as another person walked into the building. He had a strange looking mark under his right eye, but she ignored it - she wasn't going to give rude glances on her first day in the building. Much stranger than the mark, he knew her name. But, once again, she ignored it.

"Nice to meet you too, Brian! Yes, I'm Beatrice. I'm new here, do you know where I should go?

  • Just Eric

Woke up late, far from home

Its been two years since he infiltrated this alien(human) civilisation and took on the name Eric- though it would be more accurate to say 'begrudgingly put with aforementioned misnomer' since he had no say about it. Eric liked to think that after all this time nobody knew of his true origins but he suspected some of them did. They were just politely playing along. Sort of like how an adult would nod and agree when a child insisted their imaginary friend was very much real.

He hadn't made much progress in terms of finding a way to contact his folks up in space. Mainly because he was sleeping. A lot. In fact he was doing exactly that right at the moment. Holed up in the Control room, lights flicked off-the brightness irritated his eyes even with the protection of sunglasses- , feet propped up on the desk. The way he was slumped in the chair was a dead give away that he was - well- dead to the world. The headphones were still propped up on his head, though he paid little mind to whatever was being said. He should be monitoring it. But eh.

In his defence he had been up all night, and there was usually another engineer who picked up on his slack whenever the radiostation was airing. Although said person had yet to make an appearance. He wasn't really sure where the his colleague had buggered off to, So in defiance over the other engineers absence he'd decided to sleep. Well- okay he had planned on just scowling at them for their tardiness but he'd drifted off as a he waited for them.

ooc~ sorry! is a bit rushed but i wanted to get this out.

  • Marccus W. Davis -

Marc looked as another one of the on air hosts wandered in. He had never really thought of it but they were all guys, he wondered if that was weird, but he supposed it was just kind of the way. Things ended up that way. "I'm not exactly sure where you need to go per say... Uhmm if you're new I'm sure someone's going to come down here to greet you, that makes sense to me at least." He said as he looked out the door and took a firm grasp on his coffee and took a long drink from it as he thought. "There's supposed to be three of you right? That's what I recall at least, from the brief we got." He asked as he smiled at the newbie with a pleasant look, looking then to Brian. "I'm kind of excited to have new blood here, what about you? It's just so exciting, no?" He said, his energy from the night shift seemingly not at all diminished from staying up all night. Maybe it was the coffee. Nobody knew his little secret. Not that there was much of any secret, it was just the way he was.

    Taylor K. Smith -

Taylor gingerly took the cup of cider with both hands and held her gaze on it firmly, making sure it didn't get away from her sight. No way she was going to let herself break another cup, especially not one belonging to station management. "New people? I can..." She stoped as she nearly let the mug fall from her but managed to catch it before it touched down, beaming with a smile and looking up at management, before trying to retain her more professional composure. "I can umm, go check the lobby for you, that's where they'd be right?" She inquired as she started walking for the door with a careful, almost nervous pace. It wasn't that she had so little faith in herself, it was more so the presence of her boss, it was that she was in a way, slightly intimidated by the older lady. Not that she was a mean boss or anything, she was probably the best boss the young girl had ever had, but it was still natural for her to be nervous when facing someone of such stature, such importance. And her natural luck didn't help her case at all.

"I'll swing by there when I get you your drink Ma'am." She nodded her head in a sort of reverence as she ducked out of the room and let out a breath, walking towards the kitchen. However as she was moving she seemed to trip over her own two feet as she moved, falling forward and dropping the cup, thankfully onto the carpet, breathing out a sigh of relief as the empty mug did not in fact shatter. Getting up again and picking up the mug after dusting herself off. Maybe she should just set it down in the kitchen before heading all the way down to the lobby, best not to risk anything. Or so she thought as she went over to the kitchen, set down the mug, and started to head for the lobby.

(sorry for my temporary absence, I'm back now)

  • -Lou Mendle

Every room in the station had one thing in common. A coffee machine. Which made since because most that worked here stayed late or came in early. Honestly coffee was probably the life blood of the station. Lou knew that it had probably replaced her blood somewhere in high school when she was just an errand journalist. The only place that didn’t have a coffee machine was the Booth, Station Management’s Office and the Bathrooms.

The abundance of coffee makers made it rather easy to retrieve her twin’s drink and gave her a favor to cash in with him later. Maybe she’d ask for some of his secret hot chocolate. Now that was a good drink and if her brother ever shared his recipe with her that would definitely replace the coffee that most likely runs through her veins in place of blood.

As she waited for the coffee to get done she scanned the area she could see. A few of her news minions were around some working on stories or just talking with coworkers. One of their interns was being her usual unusually clumsy self and one of the other on air personalities seemed to be chatting to one of their newbies. Her observations were cut of as the machine dinged. Grabbing the newly made warm coffee the woman went back toward the Booth.

    -Johan Mendle

Johan could tell it was his sister who reentered the booth and could smell his coffee. Quietly he motioned to her in thanks as he talked to his audience about the safety rules of letting your kids wonder the forest. The gnomes may be friendlyish but the moth man was out there and it enjoyed snatching kids. He smiled as he felt Lou lightly bump his shoulder as the ‘your welcome and you owe me’ gesture he knew it was.

  • Kass Ginny Fox

Kass chuckled as the intern left. She was a funny one, that Taylor. She really did hope that her luck would turn around sometime soon.

The jinn quickly finished her paperwork and stood up, stretching. Now was the time for her daily rounds. She took a deep breath and walked out the door into the rest of the station.

Kass kept on her serious face and demeanor as she walked to the news department, stepping towards the booth that the twins were standing in, silently waving to get the attention of Lou though the window. Her first step on the daily rounds was checking up on the news.

    Beatrice Elizabeth Aspen

Beatrice nodded and smiled back at Marccus. “Okay, sounds good.” She would bide a little bit of time here in the lobby, then. No problem with that. She watched as Marccus spoke to the other worker silently. So there were other new people? Good; suddenly she didn’t feel so alone.

  • -Lou Mendle

She watched as her brother smiled at her before he silently gestures toward the booth’s window. Raising her eyebrows at the gesture Lou turned to look. There in the window she saw Kass waving at her almost in an attempt to get her attention. Turning to her brother she swiftly gave a gesture that only her brother would know how to interpret. Her brother made an identical before adding another that had Lou stifling a giggle. Rolling her eyes she made her way out of the booth.

“Sup Boss you here for the news stories we have?” She asked probably a little to casually for someone talking to their superior.
