  • TAGS ---- (this thread takes place after the rescue raid with the cartel. Also no need to match muse! Tldr: a wound that she had gotten after the human attack on her weeks ago has gotten infected on the middle portion of her tail, her symptoms includes vomiting, dehydration, and fever. She's just currently standing there on the main island, shivering, with a pile of vomit underneath her and her infected wound leaking pus.)

Blue was starting to get used to what it meant to be in pain. Most animals that were considered feral already knew this lesson. But when she first entered the clans, injuries were something that were few and far in between. The Utahraptor had only ever had to deal with her sisters and once the hierarchy had been placed, there had been little that Blue had to worry about when it came to the factor of her sisters coming after her for her position again. Being the second in the command to really any rank was extremely important, because as soon as Owen wasn't around, she was usually quick to take charge of the group, and she was smart enough to know how to command her sisters in that regard. Either way, Blue didn't know what she was getting into once the company had shipped her and her sisters to the clans. The first fight that she had ended up getting into had actually been with the Riverside members after she had killed one of their members as a source of food. The dinosaur had been hungry, injured, and confused as to where she was. She needed to figure out what kind of creatures lived in that area after all, as she wasn't going to make it easier on them. She was the top predator, and she still was the top predator in Blizzardclan as far as she could tell. The female had a rank to maintain and also a legacy even if she didn't quite understand what that even meant. The chunk that had been missing from her tail had been given to her while she had lived in Riverside with the rest of her sisters for a little bit. Getting attacked by a dragon that was a thousand times her size wasn't an easy match to deal with, but she had managed to the best of her abilities when it did happen. When her tail got caught in its jaws though, she had no choice but to rip her tail from the monster to be able to get away from it so that she wouldn't be pinned to the ground. During the fight, she did end up killing another Riversider in her defense as the group had been aggressive toward her and she was only defending herself. She had gotten most of her wounds from that group, and they had scarred over, even if it took several weeks, almost two months to get the wounds to actually heal over.

The issue with the raptors was the factor that they slow healers. They weren't like warm blooded creatures where their white blood cells would be working to constantly protect their bodies and heal the wounds that they had. They had to rely on sources of heat and warmth to be able to keep themselves alive. Yes, they were genetically engineered with some animals that could somewhat regulate their heat, but their primary DNA was that of reptiles, which explained the way that they acted toward the rest of the clan. Due to all the injuries she had gotten to similar places like Blizzardclan, she didn't trust them like the rest of her pack did for various reasons. She didn't care who they were to her, they were still constantly a threat to her and the rest of her pack even if her Alpha made sure that they were smart around the raptors. Even if they tried to hide their emotions, it was practically impossible to hide them from a feral creature that could literally smell emotion and read body language better than the rest of the clanners in the area. Some of the creatures that did live here were pretty nice, especially the food givers that gave her food each time that she did approach them. Those were the creatures that she had some respect for and wouldn't be willing to eat them immediately because they provided a good amount of food so that she didn't have to expend energy as much. The most recent injuries she had gotten had been several weeks ago when humans had attacked her with an electrified net. Burns covered practically her entire body, and the wounds that had scarred over had re-opened again. But thanks to her feral nature, Blue refused any sort of help that was given toward her. She refused to let anyone touch her too. Even if the almost lethal attack had almost happened several weeks ago, the wounds that covered her body were still there. Some of the wounds were exposed to open air, and since the raptors weren't incredibly clean when it came to their lifestyle, it meant something bad was bound to happen sooner or later. The dinosaur didn't know what infection was of course. Having been raised in practically a sterile area most of her life meant that she was given enough vaccines over and over again to boost her immune system so that she wouldn't die while she was hatched.

And when she did suffer any injuries, she would wake up the next day only to see that the wound had practically disappeared because the scientists came in to help her out. Blue had been resting as much as she could, but with so many wounds that were covering her body, there were only so many that could be checked over and over again. The feral beast didn't have any medical knowledge after all. Blue was slowly walking through the woodland area, the main island that the Blizzardclan camp was on. There was obviously something wrong with the raptors posture though with the way she was hunched over. The hell was wrong with her? Confusion practically radiated off of her body as she had no idea what was happening. There was also something else that was emitting from the predator, and that was the stench of pus. Which was almost a sour smell that smelled like rotting flesh. Where was the smell coming from? The smell was coming from the festering wound that was developing on her tail. Infection had started to set in yesterday, but it hadn't traveled far enough to have a chance to amputate her tail as that wouldn't be needed. Green-ish white fluid dripped from the middle portion of her tail, and her jaws were gaped. She was a reptile yes, but like most animals that lived in the world, they were still capable of getting fevers just like everyone else. Blue had no idea what a fever was, and she hadn't been drinking since her fever had actually started. The infected area had gotten incredibly itchy to the point that Blue started to pick at the wound, her nose constantly curling at the stench of the wound. It smelled terrible. While she was walking through, the blue-ish grey Utahraptor seemed to stop herself completely, and convulsions started around her side. Before her body lurched forward as fluids flowed from her jaws as she vomited. Something that scientists learned long about being capable of doing so. Chunks of meet and other objects came from the inside of her mouth, and after that Blue had stopped moving. Her head hanging low as bodily fluids leaked from her jaw down onto the ground, and even out of her nose. Her tail slightly raised in the air to be able to counterbalance her weight. No, she wouldn't die from this, but if she didn't get some sort of medical attention, her condition would end up getting worse.

  • That acrid scent in the air told him something was wrong. It was sour, and disturbing to his sensitive nostrils now that he could smell way better than he could before. Frankly he was making him sick and he felt like it would turn his stomach but whoever it was that smelled like that obviously needed help. At first he had thought that a medic would surely tell him if Blue needed to be looked at but when no one had come he figured everything had been alright. Usually doctors would look at Blue when they saw she was doing poorly, coming to get him so that he could keep her calm but that hadn't been the case here and maybe he should have taken matters into his own hands. Ugh, paws not hands. He'd never get used to that. So now he was following the scent that was leaking through the air, eyes shifting to see if he can catch a glimpse at whoever was this badly hurt and hadn't been checked out when he spotted Blue. Her hunched down form and the vomit pile that laid just beneath her. That smell was coming from her and he made him freeze up a bit. "Damnit." The male hissed underneath his breath as he made his way over, eyes widening just a bit as he looked at her condition which was deteriorating. Even a bit of a cold could be dangerous for a raptor and he beckoned to Blue for her to come over to him. If she did he would tap the ground letting out a soft and gentle babbling to her. "Down." He couldn't reach her tail which the smell was concentrated at and so she had to lay down or sit down for him and then he would go to look at it before he frowned a bit. It looked horrible, festering and leaking pus which made his muzzle crinkle up sharply. Who did they have that was a medic here? He knew basic first aid but that was it and even then he didn't know the animal stuff. "I need a medic over here!" He called out before he looked at Blue and pressed his head gently against her neck to comfort her before moving to find some water to wash her wound out with, dragging a small wooden bowl with him on his return. Gently he attempted to pour the water over her wound to get some of the pus out of it.

  • retro to body change!

mija never bothered with the raptors, and they never bothered with her. they knew they couldn't get a single drop of fear to radiate off the medic trainee, mija would go into the face of danger without fear. she would face death without fear. it was just... mija. the multicolored tiny carnivore was out and about, scuttling across the snowy landscape- mostly looking on and about for poe: wherever her companion was at. maybe he just went off for a stretch of his wings? most likely. her dark chocolate tinted nose would scrunch at the horrid scent of something, causing the sable ferret to glance about. nothing in sight here.

where the hell was that aroma coming from? the medic trainee advanced towards the scent, soon finding the clouded leopard form of owen and his... beta- blue. there was pus, and other bodily fluids upon the scene- and she clearly needed medical attention. the problem? blue never was around enough to get help, and even with bandages on- she would rip them off because she was a little stubborn girl. mija's lanky structure would advance forth, looking at owen as she mumbled softly: "i'm here." circling around the utahraptor, mija would study the infection upon blue's tail: deep infections, vomiting, and what else?

pressing her paws gently against blue's body, she would feel the temperature of blue- slowly advancing forth to the reptile's cheeks. burning hot, most likely a fever. it looked as if blue had got herself in a clear handful of medical issues, didn't it? mija would huff gently, glancing at owen momentarily. it was as she was about to say something to blue's alpha, but no words left the medic trainee. mija would glance at the small satchel which she had been carrying with her, using her tiny paws to fiddle through it. the female would pull out some ginger within her tiny jaws, releasing it in a tiny bowl.

as she dropped the ginger in the bowl, mija would also add coltsfoot to construct a herbal tea- grinding up the ginger and coltsfoot before using her elemental powers to add the water to the tea. the young medic trainee would then use a faint bit of fire elemental powers to heat up the herbal tea, soon handing it to owen. "give that to her, make sure she drinks it all. it's a herbal tea." the multicolored female would instruct, soon glancing back at the mid section of blue's tail. "i'll do the rest once she's down, i don't want my head bit off."

  • I'VE FALLEN AND I CHOOSE NOT TO GET UP —

Nicklaus was drawn over by the strange, awful stench as well. It was strange, Nicklaus smelled bad sometimes but whatever this was smelled bad. Upon seeing Owen and Mija with what appeared to be an injured Blue, Nicklaus hesitated a bit. He didn't like the raptors... he trusted Owen, but he didn't trust the bigass lizards. He was sure they would love to make a meal of his own bones. Hmph.

Padding forwards, investigating the infected wound Blue had on her tail, he nodded approvingly as Mija made and offered her tea, chiming in gentle for once, "Looks excellent Mija. I'll help you as best as I can. Just tell me what to do." Of course, the elder was sure he could handle the situation solely by himself, but... Mija was an official medical assistant, and she also needed to learn. The best way to learn about how to heal was to preform healing on other creatures. As he looked across Blue's form, he was mentally forming some kind of treatment for her. Draining her wound first, making an antibiotic poultice... but, he was curious to see what Mija was going to do. And she had a good point, they needed for Blue to relax and let them help her if this was going to go anywhere.

  • TAGS ✦ ✧ ✦ — Frank was drawn to the scene by the smell as well, his nose wrinkled in mild disgust. The smell was vaguely familiar- he remembered it from when his childhood friend had gotten seriously injured, but he couldn't quite put his finger.

However, the smell was immediately recognizable the moment he arrived on the scene. It was rancid- the mixed smell of infection and vomit. Frank didn't like to think of himself as squeamish, but he didn't necessarily enjoy situations like this.

No matter; a clanmate was injured, and it looked like Frank could help. The male padded up next to Mija, his words echoing Nicklaus'. "I can help too, if you need it." He was sure Mija knew what she was doing, but a little assistance was always useful- at least, in his book.

  • TAGS ---- (Hella late sorry!)

Infection in wild animals were quite common on the factor that they didn't have any means of taking care of their wounds other than just by licking them. Blue had been spoiled over the fact that she had never really been sick all that much before. Sure, she had at least a common cold at least at one point, but other than that she had been perfectly healthy. They were important assets after all and needed to always have surveillance to a degree so that they didn't die. They couldn't afford to make another batch of raptors if something went wrong just because they weren't careful enough. That wouldn't do. There were many reasons why animals hunted the way they needed to. They hunted in such a way so that they would lesson the possibility of getting themselves injured by attacking something that is larger than them. Such as a pride of lions won't attack a water buffalo with only a couple of members, as they know that's a dumb idea and could result in them getting killed. Wild animals know the stakes that they are dealing with and the possibility of what could happen if something doesn't work out for them. The Utahraptors were no different, being the reason why they hadn't eaten anyone in the clan yet. They were being given food over and over again by those that were either afraid of them or simply took interest. It didn't matter, it just meant that they didn't have to risk getting injured by hunting something that they knew nothing about. Quite strategic, which if someone was to witness that would realize the intelligence that these animals have under their belt. It isn't easy and could be quite boring, but when it came to means of survival they were just going to have to deal with it whether they liked it or not. They can't afford to have serious injuries, because like when Blue got injured from the humans, all she continued to do was lick at her wounds. Her tongue wasn't barbed like a feline's was, but it was enough that scabs had a trouble forming and then her immune system started working on different factors of her body.

Meaning that she was more prone to infection the longer her wounds came to the open air. It was bound to happen as she constantly snapped at anyone that tried to touch her. Blue didn't like being touched unless it was by Owen or her sisters because touching an animal means that they have some level of power or equality with that animal at the same time. Blue doesn't want to be submissive to the animals that she could care less about and the animals that don't submit to her all that often. She is incredibly stubborn because of that, but either way the Utahraptor usually get what she wants. Part of her wishes that the humans were around so that they could stop the pain that was going through body. She had tried her best to remain strong this entire time. For Owen. For her sisters. She was the second leader after all. She couldn't afford to look as weak as she was. Wild animals were known for hiding their pain from those that approach them, giving them the illusion that everything would be okay in due time. Ultimately, this could lead to the animals death because the creatures don't know that the animal is in serious condition as they try to pull it off. They are pretty good when it comes to masters of deception, and the raptors even use that technique when it comes to hunting down prey that is a little bit more difficult to catch. It is what they consider to be their prime hunting strategy after all. Considering her sense of smell was greater than a wolf's meant that the stench that was coming from her own body was a lot more difficult for her to deal with than the rest of the clanners. All she wanted to do was shove her face into some snow and just forget about all of this. She just wanted the pain to go away. That's all she had ever wanted. Considering her condition, the humans that created her were obviously watching her condition, and if her condition were to get any worse, they were bound to come back and bring extra measures so the last mission wouldn't go as bad. And that time, Blue wouldn't be able to fight them off at all. Blue wasn't even able to scent her Alpha as he made her way over toward her. Blue stood there, honestly just thinking about what her next course of action was. She didn't want her sisters to see her, so going back to the nest wasn't an option.

She did catch movement out of the corner of her eye, but unlike times where she has snapped her head in the direction of movement, she barely moved her head to look at the clouded leopard. Owen. The other was telling her to move over toward him, and the blue-ish grey Utahraptor would slowly make her way over, stepping over the contents that she had emptied from her stomach. Her body was working on auto pilot, muscle memory, as her mind was quite foggy when it came to everything else. She had been conditioned by her Alpha to do simple tasks, and laying down was one of them. The Utahraptor didn't just lower herself to the ground though. Blue practically collapsed from exhaustion. She hadn't been resting enough to really heal her wounds. 'Hurts' Blue finally admitted with a very low babble. He could make the pain go away right? He always had been able to. When other approached her though, it stressed her out quite a bit as her head was laying down on the ground, her tail almost curling around her in a protective manner. She didn't trust any of them. And since they didn't trust her the feelings were mutual. Her lips would curl, to show her teeth, but no sound would come out from her jaws. Some of the creatures were fairly big in size, especially frank, as the tiger could do some damage to her. She had killed tigers before though. Blue did position herself so that her legs were underneath her, her clawed fingers at the ready to defend herself. The look of distrust was in her eyes as she looked at every last one of them. Yet she didn't move. She couldn't move. How pitiful of a Beta she was.
