  • Val had been tasked with making and delivering gift baskets, which hadn't seemed too hard. He had collected a few baskets, setting them out in a less active part of camp. Along with that, he'd found some other things, like books, treats, and some herbs an NPC had given to him after seeing what the cub was doing.

The only thing Val had an issue with was topping the baskets off with something special. While delievering them all would take a lot of work, he wanted to do this right. Each basket deserves a little something different. Then, he could worry about actually bringing them to allies.

So, he'd collected a few stones just the size of his paw, that he had located due to the snow melting a bit in some areas of the territory. While winter wasn't over yet, he was glad for a break in the cold. And, he also made sure to track down some paints he could use. This time, though, he wouldn't be painting his father's armor or the side of some NPC's house, or even River - even if the bird still looked on warily as Val set things up.

He set about painting each of the rocks with different patterns and decorations, all from his imagination. So far, he'd finished one rock with light blue paint - his favorite color - and reds and purples, hoping to depict in some way the Crystal Caverns. He was onto the next stone, starting with a big red spot, representing Val's memories of the sundown he'd seen yesterday before bed. Unfortunately, some of the blue had stayed on his paw, so it ended up a little messy. Well, maybe instead of his other idea, he could paint a crab swimming in the ocean. That would be nice.

  • "Whatcha' doing there, Val?"

Shining had seen the lion cub working on some gift baskets- his weekly task from Hope, if he remembered correctly. They seemed to contain the usual item: herbs, books, candy, etc. But the feline noticed that Val was also painting on something, which sparked a bit of Shining's interest. So he'd take a moment out of his day to see what was going on. The Delta looked down at Val's current piece of work. "Oh! Painting?"

  • Akro's sensitive nose caught the familiar scent of paint and he absent-mindedly followed it, wondering what it might be coming from. Akro had never been an artist. He didn't mind sketching, but never would he ever attempt to paint. There was no joy in it for him, who saw the world in nothing but greys, and oftentimes he struggled to make out the contents of paintings, especially ones that blended together and didn't have any distinguishing or vibrant features. But, he was very curious about the arts, so a smile touched his lips and he approached Val, standing a respectful distance away from Shininglight. "What are you painting?" he wondered, head tilted to the side. It seemed he was applying the substance to some rocks. What a cute idea.

  • "val! val! put one of those on top of the ones on my head." he urged as he balanced two of the smooth stones right where he had instructed the other cub to place another. if he squeezed his eyes shut, he could save himself from completely tottering over.

  • Val straightened, looking up from his rock as he heard Shine's question. Yes, he was painting, but this was something special, too. "Paint rocks for presents," he explained to the Delta.

Before he could get back to doing so, another query was thrown his way, this time by someone Valemon didn't know as well. He slid the rock toward the individual, smearing more of the blue paint as he did so, but didn't seem to notice. It gave the painting more personality, anyways, right? "'s a crab swimmin' in th' water," the cub said, pointing out the red blob of paint. "'s pretty?" Hopefully, both Shine and Akro liked the ones he'd done so far. Because, if they liked them, surely their allies would, too.

He was distracted before he could get a reply, though, when Pit caught his attention. What was he doing? Val couldn't hold back a laugh. "Silly!" Sometimes, he stacked stones in towers, seeing how high he could get them, but never on his head. Momentarily forgetting his painting, he picked up another rock with his red paint-smeared paw and aimed to place it on the precarious tower atop Pit's head.

  • Akro moved closer to Val to get a closer look at the painting. The day was bright, so his vision was quite blurry, but he could make out the various grey splotches that Val was probably referring too. He chuckled softly. "It's very cute," he confirmed with a nod of his head. "I think the recipients will love them." While he couldn't know for sure if his perception of the paintings was accurate, he was sure such a gesture would pass well with anyone it was offered too.

  • “being the world’s greatest rock balance-r is no joke.”. pit jested as he moved his head in perfect timing to avoid the toppling of his steeple. he figured that if he kept the delicate motions up, he may be looking at having four of them alighting on his cranium. he let his little tongue poke out in concentration before he dared to say “who wants to bring forth the fourth?”

  • Unaware of Akro's vision problems, Val was happy he had his clanmate's approval. He didn't say so, though, as he continued to watch Pit balance the tower of rocks atop his head. Really, if it hadn't been for his continued perception of the wet paint on his paws, the cub probably would've forgotten what he was doing completely. Pit was talented, that was for sure. Picking up another stone, he debated what to paint on this one. A tiger? The bridge of the old RiverClan territory? Unfortunately, Pit's statement once again tore his attention away, and he instead carefully added the stone to Pit's 'crown'. The rocks could always wait until after this little game.

  • "thanks, val!", pit rather cheered. this wasn't exactly favorable to his cause for in doing so, he jostled his accumulating stack and just like that, the whole thing toppled over. a tiny sigh was ripped from him along with a "welp, there go my hopes and dreams." and a dismissive shrug. he could be a champion rock balance-r some other day, anyways.

he decided to officially resign for the moment and went over to the painted rocks that his fellow lion had completed. "these're the bomb! you HAVE to teach us how to paint like this!!!"

  • Val let out a small squeak of surprise when Pit's rock tower finally fell. Oh, was his head going to be alright? The cub hoped so. Despite what he said, Pit didn't look too upset. They were just rocks... but maybe it would cheer him up to have him paint with Val?

Just as Valemon was thinking of bringing it up, Pit spoke again. 'Bomb'? That was a good thing, right? But, if he wanted to know how to paint, Val would be happy to show him. He pulled one of the jars of paint closer and dipped a paw in. When he removed it, his paw was coated in a deep brown paint. It wasn't exactly the right color, but Val supposed it would do. Setting his crab rock aside, he selected a blank one with his clean paw. Then, holding up his paint-coated paw, he made sure to show Pit as he made a few splotches on the stone. The paint was mixed with some light blue and purple from earlier, but that was to be expected. There were a few brown circles... and that smear of blue could be the eyes... When he was satisfied, he looked up at the other lion. "Paint Pit," he said.
