Personality: Verene isn’t really what people picture when they think about the Avatar. She’s quiet and reserved, which spawns from a timid nature. She can be painfully shy around new people, she doesn’t do well in crowds, and she’s extremely underconfident in her own abilities. Often, she’s unsure of herself and her decisions, always worried that she’s made the wrong one. However, Verene isn’t the complete push-over most would perceive her as, either. Despite not thinking so, she’s surprisingly wise and gives very good advice. And even if she questions her own decisions, she always commits to them, and would never dream of changing her mind. She’s a friendly, cheerful individual once you get to know her, and is undeniably a kind person. Although she doesn’t like violence, she recognizes it as necessary sometimes, and will always protect those in need, especially the ones she loves. Often times though, she tries to escape a situation by outwitting it, rather than punching through it, which makers her very clever. A sense of loneliness does lurk within her though, due to her shyness making it difficult for her to make friends, which she absolutely craves. Aside from that if she could only get past her under confidence, she could truly excel in life. Though that’s easier said then done. Overall, Verene is a gentle soul.

History: Verene is from a very small Earth Kingdom village most people have never even heard of. She grew up with a normal childhood, barring only the fact that she was too shy to make many friends. Her mother own a tea shop, where she worked until recently. Verene never exhibited any signs of bending ability until she was thirteen, at which point she was able to move a few pebbles. She mostly disregarded her abilities because of its lackluster display, and considered herself a non-bender. However, when she turned sixteen (which was about a week ago), she came into contact with the Order of the White Lotus, who informed her that she was the Avatar. Verene couldn’t believe it, and before she knew it, she was whisked away to Republic City to begin her training as the Avatar.

Trivia:

-Because her bending never really manifested, Verene has no idea how to bend any of the elements, even Earth, which differs from Avatars of the past who usually had mastered their home element by the time they were sixteen.

-Despite having no idea she was the Avatar until recently, Verene is actually quite sagacious already.

-She first began meditation to try and cope with her worrisome nature, but eventually it became a hobby she really enjoyed; one which also promoted her spirituality.

-Verene is a vegetarian, a trait brought about due to her love of all animals, and the fact that she can’t bear the thought of eating them.

-She likes to write haikus in her spare time, but she never shares them with anyone because she doesn’t think she’s any good.

-Surprisingly, dancing is one of her all time favorite activities, and one of the only times her timidness seems to vanish.

-Verene loves being outside, whether she’s gardening, butterfly watching, meditating, or otherwise. If she’s outside, she’s generally happy.

-She loves brewing tea for others, as well as drinking it herself. She’s on a life-long quest to find the perfect brew.

-Verene hates violence, and strives for a peaceful solution. Because of this, she doesn’t really understand the popular sport Pro-Bending because it seems like people are just beating each other up for entertainment.

-Despite seeming a bit flighty at first glance, Verene is actually exceptionally steadfast in her resolve.

-Her favorite game is Pai Sho, which she played often with her mother.

-She loves butterflies.

Personality: Cool and collected, yet superficial describes the first perception of Zirro’s personality. He exudes confidence, and walks with a bit of a swagger to his step everywhere he goes. Zirro is fully aware of how most of Republic City feels about him, and uses their general reverence to get what he wants. A deliberately slow speaker, he’s calm, lax, and very rarely gets angry, the definition of chill. As for his arrogance? He doesn’t think he’s the best; he knows he’s the best. In actuality though, the majority of his personality, at least what’s visible to the public, is a total sham. Ever heard the phrase “I feel like I’m the worst so I always act like I’m the best”? The saying describes Zirro perfectly. He absolutely craves attention and adoration, and often feels that the reason he doesn’t get it from the person he wants most is because he’s doing something wrong himself. As such, he conceals his own inner turmoil by acting as if it doesn’t exist and, by extension, like he’s more perfect thane everyone else. Interestingly, Zirro is deeply philosophical as well, a trait that surprises anyone who happens to stumble across it. In fact, he spends a good majority of his time meditating (usually near water) and contemplating what he refers to as “the flow”. Of course, he keeps all this a very closely guarded secret; philosophy isn’t cool to the general masses.

History: It’s a total mystery! No one really knows much, because he doesn’t talk about it!

Trivia:

-Zirro is the only water bender in his immediate family.

-He’s actually half Water Tribe, half Earth Kingdom; his father is from the Northern Water Tribe and his mother is from Ba Sing Se. In fact, his mother is usually considered responsible for his lighter complexion when compared with the rest of the Water Tribe people.

-His brother married a woman from the Foggy Swamp Tribe, meaning that Zirro has to trek through a swamp at least once a year for a visit.

-His ties to the Foggy Swamp Tribe have been somewhat educational; Zirro has spent some time studying their more rigid bending style, and because of this, Zirro’s own style is rather unique (and really odd).

-Interestingly, Zirro really struggles with the other forms of water bending, steam and ice. He sticks to mostly liquid water due to this.

-Despite hailing from the Northern Water Tribe, he hates the cold.

-Zirro’s father represents the Northen Water Tribe on the Republic City Council. Most people don’t know about this connection due to neither of the two ever talking about it (they don’t exactly look like father and son either).

-The only reason Zirro even started in the Pro-Bending League was an attempt to gain his father’s attention.

-Zirro is often referred to as “The Absolute Defense” in Pro-Bending discussions. This is due to his phenomenal water bending skills within the ring and his ability to deflect projectiles flying towards his teammates. In fact, his defensive abilities are so potent that his team, the Eel Hounds, employ the most unusual team formation of having their water bender stand center as the main defense, rather than their earth bender.

-Although the Eel Hounds have a less than prefect record, in his entire time playing, Zirro has never once been knocked out of the ring (wish he could say the same for his teammates).

-He’s actually a pretty skilled healer, having been taught by his grandmother, though he’s (secretly) too embarrassed to admit it for the most part.

-Even father aside, he never mentions that his brother and sister-in-law are swamp people, and he rarely talks about his mother. So, basically, he never talks about his family.

-He tends to have trouble getting along with fire benders in particular.

-His favorite color is purple.

Personality: Keanu is basically a goofball. He has an excellent sense of humor, and loves to make people laugh with his often dorky antics. He’s fun-loving, sometimes obnoxious, and almost doesn’t know how to get serious. He’s a competitive, and hates to lose, but always does so as a good sport. Despite often being called loud by most people, Keanu is a deeply compassionate and empathetic individual, and will always go out of his way to help someone in need. He’s the type of guy who will drop what he’s doing to help and old lady carry her groceries. An unfaltering optimist, he always tries to see the best in people, and make the best of any situation as well. He’s pretty hard to get down, and even if he does become sad, it rarely lasts very long. Keanu can get along with just about anyone and everyone, and is always the first person to introduce himself and make new friends. However, he does tend to be somewhat of a rash personality, and he doesn’t always think before rushing headlong into a situation. He becomes impatient easily, and once in a while it’s easy to tell that all of his humor and jokes are actually how he copes with pain. Essentially, he thinks with his heart, and very rarely his head.

Crush/Significant Other: He has a crush on Avani, but he definitely will not admit it!

History: Keanu hails from the Southern Water Tribe where he spent most of his life. The majority of his childhood was filled with happiness and laughter, and many jokes on his part. However, he was involved in a pretty tragic accident when he was young that killed his father, mother, and younger sister. No one is quite sure what happened because he doesn’t like to talk about his lack of family, or what the accident was (most of the time, he just lets people believe he has a big family and won’t contradict them). He was left orphaned, but was taken in and raised by his grandfather, Hanrick. Over the years, things got better for Keanu, and his life went back to normal. He arrived in Republic City two years ago after his grandfather kicked him out (out of love!) and told him to go have some life experiences! Keanu started Pro-Bending and currently plays for the Catgators, and has remained in Republic City ever since (with plenty of visits home to see Hanrick and his Water Tribe friends).

Trivia:

-He’s very close with his grandfather, and tends to talk about him quite a lot. Hanrick is Keanu’s main role model, and Keanu aspires to be as great as him someday.

-Keanu is almost always hungry, and will eat just about anything too. He’s not picky, but his favorite food is hot noodle soup.

-He eats at a local noodle shop at least three times a week.

-Despite often acting like a total moron, he’s actually quite smart.

-He has a lot of pride about being Southern Water Tribe.

-He got Nikko as a puppy around a year after he moved in with his grandfather. She instantly began cheering him up, and Keanu has been very attached to her ever since.

-He’s an absolute beast at the water gun booth, present at most festivals and celebrations.

-Keanu talks a big game to his rivals, but usually tends to just be full of hot air.
