Layla's sharp ears picked up on the sound, and she turned her head towards the edge of camp. Fawn. Her nose twitched as she inhaled the scent, and got to her paws. WiseSpirit hadn't brought anything back, and the scent told Layla that this deer was a child, a newborn. How it had gotten so close to camp, let alone how Wisespirit had missed it, she didn't know. But the gamma wasn't going to miss the opportunity of a free, easy kill. She hadn't hunted in ages. Legend had said they should wait for WiseSpirit to finish talking, but surely whatever it was didn't involve prey. She began to stalk towards the sound, pricking her ears and inhaling to help her find her target without the use of sight.

"Wait," Legend said, putting her paw slightly in front of the older wolf to get her attention. "What ever is out there, I feel it would be wise not to attack it, there's no way Wisespirit would have missed a fawn sitting right out front of camp. Whatever the reason is I feel that the alpha wouldn't want it hurt." She drew her paw aside with a respectful nod to the female, "but I won't stop you from doing whatever you wish."

Layla paused, listening to Legend's request. It was ridiculous, thinking that WiseSpirit could be that blind, deaf, senseless. Yet it was also ridiculous not to go after such an easy kill! It seemed the sound had brought the fawn to their leader's attention though, maybe she would make an order now. But WiseSpirit looked nervous, tense, as if she'd been caught in headlights. The Gamma sighed, looking from her leader to Legend. "Maybe you're right. Still, I need to know now." Layla turned to WiseSpirit, and barked "Alpha, I sense prey just beyond camp. Shall I go take it down for our breakfast?"

Kasimus cleared his throat, his mouth began watering. Oh, he was quite hungry. But it would be rude of him to bound off and kill something in the middle of a conversation... But what doe would allow her fawn to wander so near a wolf den? Kasimus snorted, the thing was asking to be killed.
He heard his mate give him to sharp tone of disapproval but he didn't turn. At least until he felt her tension, why was she scared? Kasimus straightened his posture and snorted.
"What? Are you not hungry as well?"

WiseSpirit breathed in and out, heavily. She knew there was no getting out of this now. It was time to come clean. “Kasimus, there’s some thing I have to tell you. That fawn you smell,” she said, gesturing toward the entrance. “That’s her. That is the child.”

He then turned his attention to Wisespirit and snorted, was this a joke, "Please Wisespirit do not kid around..." He felt dismay, why would Wisespirit say something like that? He turned his head and felt even worse... Why would she do something like that

Layla flicked her ears in confusion, but nodded. She couldn't go against a direct order from either of the leaders, but she wished she knew why they couldn't go and at least look for the fawn. Layla wasn't able to hear what was being said between the two leads, mostly because it would be pretty rude to eavesdrop on them, so she didn't quite understand. They'd better tell us why soon.
