  • OOC: WE'RE DOING THIS MAN WE'RE MAKING THIS HAPPEN

IC: The response honestly surprised her a little. Foreststar had been expecting Lightning to consider the life of a loner. She had to admit, it wasn't bad if one knew how to take care of themselves, and she could imagine Lightning being one of those nobler loners who had helped a scared little apprentice called Ice so many moons ago. But no--she chose the life of a warrior. It didn't really matter to Foreststar which clan she claimed allegiance to--it wasn't like they were in a clan's camp. They were before Starclan! That was all that really mattered, though the mild disgruntled feelings she could sense in some of the eldest gathered Starclanners would beg to differ.

Foreststar glanced around the clearing to catch the eye of a few Starclanners she thought had a little more say in this than she did. Pinefrost smiled; several older Shadowclan leaders nodded or flicked their ears indifferently. Foreststar nodded to no one in particular and turned back to the young she-cat before them.

She never did feel like Lightning's heart fit in Thunderclan. It should have been obvious; trees that lose their leaves in leaf bare kind of catch on fire around lightning.

"You would not need my blessing for such a thing, but I will give it," she replied formally, and squared her shoulders again. "That being said...Lightning, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and to protect and defend your Clan, even at the cost of your life?"

  • ----~ Lightningpaw felt her shoulders relax, yet another weight lifted from her. She would miss Thunderclan - at least she would miss the good memories of old. But it was almost fate determined it to be that way - the only cats she cared for had all vanished, leaving no bodies or graves for her to be tied to. But while the idea of being a loner was not completely out of her mind, she knew she wouldn't fully be able to enjoy it. At least, not yet. There was still one more good memory she hoped to keep safe. One more good friend she couldn't walk away from.

    She would join Shadowclan.

And she would become it's finest member, should that truly be the place she was meant to be in.

"I do," she said, clear and strong.

  • OOC:

IC: Oh, thank goodness. Foreststar hadn't realized how much she needed to hear those words. If not because they'd been waiting then because it meant Lightning was swearing to cool it, though to be honest she'd grown a lot in the past two moons or so. She only allowed herself a moment of relief before she squared herself again to finish the ceremony. Heck of a ceremony it was too.

"Then by the powers of StarClan, I give you your warrior name. Lightning, from this moment on you will be known as Lightningspirit. StarClan honors your passion and energy, and we welcome you as a full warrior under Starclan."

Foreststar quickly hopped down from the Great Rock to rest her muzzle on top of Lightningspirit's head so that the gathered warriors could greet the young warrior by her new name.

    Lightningspirit.

The molly let out the breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding. It was better than she could have ever imagined. Lightningpaw-spirit grinned, cheeky and confident as ever as her mentor returned to her side, before promptly wrapping her paws around the she-cat once more. "I love you," she informed the other, the words coming easy to her. When she had been a child, waiting in the nursery from sun to dusk, hoping for her parents to returned, she had quickly learned they never would. Who knew she'd find an even better mom waiting for her in plain sight.

  • OOC: lovin the new fancypost~

IC: Foreststar let out a huff of surprise as Lightningspirit broke tradition and cat-hugged her instead of licking her shoulder. She guessed it was appropriate for this she-cat. And not heretic, judging by the mrows of amusement that rippled through the hollow.

Lightningspirit's next words, her first words as a warrior, came as even more of a spook--but that was probably because Foreststar didn't recall ever hearing or saying them, probably as a result of not remembering her own parents and never finding a long-term mate in life. In fact, when she tried to copy Lightningspirit, her tongue got stuck, and so she saved the self-depreciation for later and simply settled for her version.

"Dead or not, I will always be your mother," she replied warmly, returning the cat-hug. She added a quick lick between the ears and a mischievous "Lightningspirit~." She wanted to be the first to say it to her face. Mwuhahaha.

"Hey, I hope there's room in all that lovin' for Papa?" a voice chuckled nearby. A dark tabby StarClan warrior with icy blue eyes was striding towards them from the ShadowClan side of the hollow.

    "Pinefrost!" Foreststar laughed incredulously.

          "What~? If you're Mama, doesn't that make me Papa~?"

Apparently, there were other ways to say "i love you" and yet hold more power to them. Foreststar's words proved that.

The molly bet out a soft breath, torn between wanting to cry like a baby again and wanting to smile so wide her face cracked. Instead, she opted for simply purring, wiping away any potential tears before they could fall. This was a happy time, and she'd be happy - for Foreststar, her mom.

She perked her ears at the sound of another cat, unfamiliar yet was immediately alright in Light's book as he made Foreststar laugh. Lightningspirit waved her tail, chuckling herself, "I didn't know you got hitched, Forest!" she chuckled, before playfully leaning against her former mentor, "Not a bad looker ill say, either!"

IC: "Lightning!" Foreststar scoffed, glad she was covered in fur so that they couldn't see the heat that was surely in her cheeks. Actually, would her scars show it?? Nevermind. She cleared her throat and curled her tail in embarrassment. "Besides, I thought I told you about Pinefrost?"

The tom looked up from jokingly licking his chest with pride and flashed them a familiar mischievous grin. "Considering Lightningspirit, I don't think I'd be as memorable as you, dear."

"Pinefrost!" Forest gave him a playful glare and whacked him with her tail. The tom just laughed.

"Anyway, let's get a look at our new warrior, eh~?" The tom slunk past Foreststar and in a circle around Lightningspirit. "StarClan, a new daughter and a new clanmate, all in one day? You really got a way with apprentices, dear~."

Foreststar's tail curled at the compliment again. "Pinefrost is from ShadowClan," she explained, thinking the tom was just confusing Lightningspirit. Or maybe she was just looking for a reason to ignore him. Though she had to admit she really liked the sight of her mate and her daughter in the same place.
