  • Second chances.... He was silent for a while. A second chance? His parents killed each other. His sister killed their younger sister. He lost his leg and couldn't swim as much, which he LOVED to swim. His only sister left left. He fell in love, which was good, but he was taken by twolegs. Beaten and abused. Killed many cats including his treterous pregnant sister. Came back to RiverClan only to find out his love was dead... His clan starving and he was just dead weight since he couldn't hunt well... it did seam likely to be a second chance. Or maybe he was just born to this. He was born dead, so maybe the price for him living was to be that his family would die. Probably not... but ThunderClan needed him. He knows how to heal and could hunt... which both they needed. Infact every clan needs a medic. Perhaps... if a clan still needed a medic when he finishes training Asterkit... he would be brought to them and train another kit. Then another, then another, and keep training the clans until he dies... if he were to die he'd want to be buried at Sunning Rocks which he truly believed belonged to RiverClan.... "I see..." he meowed. His eyes were now opened completely to StarClan...

IC: Foreststar sat forward to touch her starry nose to his. "I hope so. But I think that's enough business talk for now; I'm supposed to be here to help you relax," the snowy warrior chuckled.

  • He flicked his shredded ear and looked off at the water. You could practically feel his heart breaking as he listened to the rushing water. "How could I with so much going on? Copperpaw and Coldthroat nearly died, as did Aspenkit. I went to save the life of Lionstar and a warrior of his, I'm trying to heal Pumpkinpatch and a variety of other cats. We have no herbs practically so I've had to resort to stealing from the borders... Bearmumble is questioning my loyalty and stupid Petalwhisker won't stop bugging me! As won't Asterkit!" He groaned.

IC: "Such is the life of a medicine cat," Foreststar chuckled good-naturedly. "But even so it'd be hard for a medicine cat to heal their Clan if they are not strong enough to think themselves. You might be the one who knows how to heal the sick, but that doesn't mean you can't let your Clan lend you a helping paw, and that doesn't mean you shouldn't be getting enough sleep to stay on your paws. That was my folly, in life..." The snowy StarClanner smiled wistfully to herself for a moment before giving her head a light shake. "To find herbs in leafbare, you'll have to get creative. I was once a loner, and when my Clan's supplies in leafbare grew low, I would dig around near Sunningrocks and Snakesrocks, and venture into the cleaner parts of the nearby city--Twolegplace. I'm not saying you and other warriors should take such risks; the only reason I ever did was because I knew how to handle adders and I knew what to look for in city gardens, but that was knowledge I'd had to earn the hard way. But perhaps you can come up with some better ideas than I? Perhaps there are roots sheltered by stones, or sprouts hidden in the snow beside the Thunderpath? Perhaps there's a garden nearby you could sneak into?"

  • His eyes softened a bit and he looked up at the warm sky. The sound of crickets bringing sweet days in the nursery memories back to his minds eye. "Perhaps... or perhaps not... Sometimes I feel like eating a whole bush of yew berries and then curling up at the bottom of the river..." Well that came out of nowhere.....

IC: "I don't think ThunderClan needs two dead cats in the river," Foreststar joked wryly. Her tone turned more serious and sympathetic. "Especially not two high positions. The Clan needs you. Do you think you could find it in yourself to let them depend on you? Could you go on for them? Could you let them be your strength?"

  • Let them be my anchor.... It was a strange thought for the ex-RiverClanner to both hear and think. How could he? His heart still yearned for the water whilst his destiny dragged him into the forest. Why was life so cruel to him? Could he perhaps merge his RiverClan beliefs and pastimes with those of ThunderClan to where they were both comfortable? Can StarClanners read minds? He stiffened at that thought and looked to Foreststar. "How?" He simply asked.

IC: Foreststar shrugged. "I don't know how loyalty or will works for you. And, to be entirely honest, I don't think I'm the right cat to be asking about work ethic," she chuckled, smiling with somewhat saddening irony at herself. "When I joined ThunderClan, I was looking for something to work for, and somewhere to be safe. And I felt like I had to prove myself to my new Clan. I had many cats throughout my life tell me not to push myself so much, to rely on the Clan as much as I needed, but it was hard for me to fathom. I think I had the opposite problem you have."

  • He sighed. "I'll try..." After a while he lied down on the rock and looked off into the RiverClan territory. He blinked a couple of times and lied his head down upon his one front paw.

IC: Guessing he was going to try to relax, Foreststar laid back down again. She wasn't sure if he'd try to have a conversation again or anything, but they did have a little while longer until sunrise.

  • Everything was so... peaceful when all your thoughts of cats dying at your paws cede to flow and the sound of the gurgling water is replaced. He felt tired and kind of just lied there next to the dead leader. After a few minuets he finally spoke in a tired raspy voice. "I'm sorry if I can't keep everyone from coming up here to be StarClanners... I-I'm trying my hardest... and that's the best I can do... I'm going deaf and blind on one side of my face... I can hardly smell from one nostril... I'm just- not perfect... but I'm trying..."

  • He nodded as best as he could with his head upon his paw... he felt guilty for attacking Bearmumble the other night... but that didn't matter now. Hopeclaw yawned and closed his eyes, tired
