Kebechet was not ever going to call herself a lonely child, nor did she ever plan to let others do so. Perhaps, in some sense, she was a loner (she didn't have any friends, but that was okay)—her only friends were her parents. They were strong, and she had no qualms with how much she looked up to them, no matter how embarrassing it might be to someone turning apprentice-age soon. They were a guiding light in a place so dark and harsh as the Shadow Veil, a place that would be nowhere near suited to the girl had she not been born into it. Not that she minded, of course. Keb didn't mind much.
"Mama? Papa?" The two were always busy, so it wasn't common to see their daughter calling out to them so blatantly, but the meeting had already been held and it was new years! They couldn't be busy now... no, that would be impossible. "Are you guys even in the camp? I miss you!"
