  • waste time with a masterpiece

Licking his jaws, he looked down at his handiwork. With his bigger size and lean strength, the loner feline didn't have much on him to fight back against Nathanael. Picked off something more than he could chew?

The taste of blood was thick in his mouth as he jabbed a paw at the feline's corpse, as if checking if the cat was really dead. Well, it had the same look in its eyes as his mother, the same faraway gaze as if focusing in on something far off in the distance. It even had the same torn throat as his mother, but perhaps that was deliberate.

"Uhmmm," Nathan began. "I...." He backed away slightly, his breathing growing harsh and ragged.

  • Cadence was in the middle of her nap when the metallic scent that swarmed in the air trailed past the feline's nostrils, catching the kit off guard. She continued to blink her sleepy foggy eyes open before shutting them once again from the bright light that shone in her eyes, the kit attempted to try again before her brain got use to the lighting, bringing her attention back to the weird smell in the air. It was awful weird and it made Cadence curious of were the source was, shoving the feline to her paws as she started to flap her cloud wings awake. Determination filled Cadence to find the strange scent, the pastel feline exiting camp to start following the mysterious scent trail, her paws lazily hovering over the ground with her clouded things flapped slowly.

It didn't take long for Cadence to find the end of the trail, but more curiosity filled her as she saw a silhouette of two figures, one laying on the ground and other abruptly backing away from them, confusing the child even more. Cadence then decided to get closer to what on earth was happening to find out that the body laying on the ground had been the source of the strange scent while a red liquid slowly oozed out from there neck. The kit continued to stare in confusion before looking at there eyes, her eyes wide with shock. The strangers eyes looked glass like and there chest looked still, there whole body looked stone cold. It was at that moment everything seemed to slow down as the child started connecting the dots more confusion and horror racking her brain. It suddenly got quiet as well, for not even the atmosphere was bright and cheerful, instead it felt heavy and dark, it was too much. The feline continued to stare in shock at the body, feeling her own body turn numb.

Cadence! Skip cried out, rushing after his sister. He had seen her wander into the forest. He had just finished making flower crowns, and he was going to surprise her with one. He skidded to a stop when he felt something was wrong... very wrong... Skip's ears pinned back as he quickly skidded to a stop beside his sister. He pushed up close to her as his nose detected the metallic stench that was undoubtedly blood. The purple kitten pushed himself close to the ground, unable to face the truth in front of him. He didn't even want to look at the corpse. He could tell they were dead. Whoever did this did it on accident! That was the only explanation. Skip refused to look them in the face. If he knew who it was, his judgement would be corrupted. He would treat the person different for an accident. He couldn't do that. P-people make m-mistakes! Forgive and forget. Remembrance and recover... right?.... this had to be some kind of twisted nightmare.... this couldn't be right...

The sound of his breathing was hard and loud in his ringing ears. He thought about swallowing the liquid in his mouth, but remembered the iron taste so he spat it out. An ear turned slightly as he heard the sound of arriving paws and his head jerked towards them, eyes landing on the two kittens that arrived on the scene.

"I...I didn't meant to--he attacked me!" the catsune blurted out, his large ears flattening against his skull. He had the claw marks to prove it, where the dead cat's claws had raked through his flesh before Nathan had ripped out his opponent's throat with a savage twist of his head. His next words came out in a croak. "I didn't mean to."

The boy would turn from the kittens back towards the corpse, his eyes wide and pupils narrowed into pink slits and shoulders hunched almost defensively. It was probably the adrenaline in his system making him behave erratically as his legs and body were strung with tension.

  • ★ ★ ★ Sloan was not exactly sure as to what he should do in this situation. He was rather intimidated but he had seen a dead body before..just not as gory as this one. The pastel blue kit stifled a quiet whimper and would move in front of his siblings, wrapping his tail around the still form of Cadence and the terrified body of Skip.

"I-It's alright sir, you simply defended yourself." He'd murmur, although his voice cracked once or twice. The older feline had done what he had needed to, nothing more..hopefully. "You did not mean to do it and it is not your fault."

Hopefully the tom would calm down soon, having him lash out at others would not be good. "Sir, I w-would very much like it if you got some medical attention for your injuries."

  • On the other hand, there came Aron, none too concerned with the fact that Nathanael had killed someone. If it wasn't a clanmate or an ally, he couldn't give less of a shit. They were an anti-clan, after all, and like Poe had said - they needed to start acting like it. Half a grin plastered to the leopard's maw as he approached, he attempted to pat Nathanael's head, in some vague attempt to comfort the catsune. "Don't worry, kid. No one's gonna persecute you," the regent said, soft enough so that he wouldn't be booming at the children around him. "Why don't you use that strength of yours on our enemies, huh? Bet those fuckers in the Sanguine Ruins won't know what hit them." Obviously he wouldn't let Littlestar's son set foot in that hellish desert, or even let a hair on these kids' bodies be harmed, but it was good to encourage them while they were young and impressionable. They'd have to get used to it, anyway, so why not start now? Turning his attention to Nathanael's injuries, he'd frown briefly, before asking, "You need a medic or you gonna walk it off?"

He knew it! He knew it was an accident! There had to be something wrong with this story. People don't kill on purpose. That's just unethical! The purple cat tilted his head up, his ears pinned back. I-its okay... the kit sniffled, I forgive you. We need to get you patched up, though. He agreed with his brother. Sloan was normally a pretty smart guy.

There was a small moan as others came, as others saw him like this. The catsune's tail twitched from side to side, his head lowered as if cringing slightly from the gaze of his Clanmates. He'd never killed before--at least, killed someone sentient like that. Sure, he had hunted and killed before but to kill someone who was....conscious? The feeling was strange.

Instead of properly responding to their words or suggestions to find a medic, Nathanael just shook his head and continued, "I really didn't mean to. You have to forgive me. Have to." Aron seemed like the only one who didn't really seem to care at all.

The smell of blood was not hard to miss. Worried for his Clanmates, Poe quickly hunted after the origin of the scent, a worried osprey flying behind him. Was it BloodClan again? Were they under attack? Memories of Littlestar's dead body lying on the ground flashed through his mind and he picked up the pace, panting in anxiety. It didn't take him long to see a group up ahead; Aron, Sloan, Skip, and a few others gathered around something. His fear spiked, but only for a moment. No one seemed particularly on edge or upset, it seemed. Maybe nothing had happened then.

The monarch finally reached the group and noticed not only the dead body, but Nathanael's erratic behavior. He frowned at the sight, reaching a paw out to rest on the corpse. Definitely dead. It didn't have a HawkClan scent, or a Clan scent at all, so it had to be a loner of some kind. If it had attacked him, Nathanael had every right to defend himself. The poor guy seemed to be beating himself up over it thought. Poe's worry ebbed away to sympathy for the younger male. It was hard to take a life for the first time, but... Hmm, was it terrible to say you got used to it?

"Nathanael, hey, look at me," Poe ordered, "It's okay. You're fine. If he attacked you, you have to defend yourself. We all forgive you. You have nothing to worry about." Once Nathanael calmed down a little, perhaps they could get some more details on exactly what had occurred.

Nathanael couldn't help but shrink away from Poe, his large ears twitching from side to side. As he listened to the leader's words, he kept his slitted eyes on the ground, nostrils flared. "Nothing to worry about?" he returned back a bit querulously, as if he wasn't sure if the leader was telling the truth. He glanced up now, at last, his sharp gaze fixing on Poe. If the leader said yes, then it was really nothing to worry about, but Nathanael wanted confirmation.

Skip's ears pinned back, he... was disturbed... but... He couldn't let the other feel alienated for a misunderstanding. The purple kitten slowly stood up, lifting the dropped, and previously forgotten, flower crown off the ground with his teeth. He took a few nervous steps forward before breaking out into a slow jog. He stopped in front of the wolf(?). He smiled and stretched his neck up, offering the other to take the crown. Gifts made everyone feel better! It was the least he could do.

Poe frowned a little more at Nathanael's continual anxiety, but tried to keep his voice cheerful. He still wanted to know the details of what had happened, but he'd have to ask after the male calmed down. So far, he obviously had not. "Yep! Nothing," Poe told him, glancing back at the body. If Nathanael was so scared, how on earth had he managed to kill this loner? It was a curious incident. He stepped aside to let Skip pass, his brown gaze returning from the corpse to the HawkClanners.

The adrenaline that had rushed his body seemed to have left and he felt a little bit woozy after the whole ordeal. An ear twitched as he noted Skip's approach with the flower crown and there was a certain expression that crossed his face. "For...me?" he inquired. After all of that, it was still for him?

As Poe reassured him, Nathan would give a small nod of understanding. Nothing to be worried about, nothing to be worried over--it was all going to be okay.
