❄WELCOME TO BLIZZARDCLAN!
[guide] | [ooc chat] | [plotting and shipping chat] | [pm for discord!]
Are you a newcomer to BlizzardClan who doesn't know where to start? Or are you a long-time member who just needs some ideas to further develop your character? Well, look no further, because this guide will hopefully offer you the answers you've been looking for!
CREATING A CHARACTER --
If you don't know what type of character you want to play, there are a lot of options open for you. BlizzardClan considers itself a neutral group, so it is best described as a generally lawful group who does not mind resorting to violence when they are threatened. They generally do not actively seek conflict and are mostly reactionary.
Thus, character potential in BlizzardClan is high. You can play most types of characters in this group, but please remember that as long as they are not breaking BlizzardClan's laws, they can stay there. Remember that IC actions of your characters have IC consequence so if they do break a rule, they should expect punishment. For example, you can have a murderer operating in BlizzardClan and as long as they don't kill anyone from allies or neutral groups, they wouldn't be bothered. That does not mean you aren't allowed OOCly from breaking the rules--if you want to work a plot with your character breaking rules, feel free to, though remember that it is likely there will be consequences. Please review the rules posted in the BlizzardClan guide to check limitations!
JOINING WITH YOUR CHARACTER --
There are three ways of joining: you can either create a joining thread where your character comes to the borders and asks to join/visit the group, you can play your character as if they had already joined before or lived in BlizzardClan already, or you can adopt a character from BlizzardClan.
For joining the Clan, BlizzardClan has an auto-acceptance policy, meaning that as long as your character does not display hostile intentions in the joining thread, they should be let in without any hassle. Situations where they may not be let in include if they come from an enemy group, start attacking BlizzardClanners, have caused BlizzardClanners harm in the past, or have been exiled from the group in the past. Use common sense when in these situations--would you let someone into your home if they are acting aggressive?
If you want to start your character already in the group, you can play them as if they were living here their whole lives or have joined in the past, etc, etc.
You may also adopt a character from BlizzardClan from the Character Adoption board. Usually there should be one or two adoptions up and maybe a mass adopt up where you can take a character from. Note that some of them have applications and back stories that you may have to adhere to, based on the discretion of the roleplayer who is adopting them out.
GETTING INTO THE COMMUNITY --
Now that you have a character and decided on how to have them join, what next?
Make a thread or jump into an open one and start roleplaying! Easiest way to get into the community is have your character interact with others already in BlizzardClan so you can make friends, rivals, enemies, etc. Most people start off with joining threads, introduction threads, meet and greets so that others know that your character is new and they can come greet them. If those aren't your style, you can just make your own thread with your own prompt as well, like hunting, patrolling, relaxing, etc.
Make a plotting thread and join others' plotting threads! You can make a thread asking for people to plot with you in the OOC board as well. Here, you can state your plot ideas for your character, ask for another character to fulfill a role for your own, or see if anyone's open to just thinking up of something cool to do with your characters. In addition, other people have their own plot threads up on the board as well, so feel free to browse around those as well!
Introduce yourself in the chatting thread and ooc meet and greet! Come in and introduce yourself and your character here! Make friends, talk about movies, tv shows, school, etc.
Mess around in the OOC activities! There's usually a bunch of fun things to do in the OOC board, whether it be compliment the character above you to spread good vibes or making pinterest boards for your character! Don't like anything you see there? Make your own game!
Going inactive? Post here! If you know you are going inactive, drop a little notice in the inactivity notice thread here.
EARNING RANK --
Sometimes, while roleplaying here, your character receives the unexpected bonus of getting promoted to a rank. If your characters haven't been promoted before, you might be curious as to how to get promoted. Usually, this involves your character being active and bringing up ideas and being responsible.
Note that these are general criteria as I see it and may not fit other groups' expectations.
1. Activity -- especially consistent activity. Characters who are good for promotion usually appear around the group often. Also, it's usually better to be constantly present than appear sporadically.
2. Ideas -- HPs are generally expected to help and contribute to the community, so if your character brings up ideas and suggestions even though they're not promoted, that's already a step in the right direction. In fact, I see ideas as more important than activity.
3. Responsibility -- your character is more likely to be promoted if they demonstrate a certain amount of responsibility and common sense. For example, it doesn't do your character any favors if they're constantly rude or problematic to others, but it looks good if your character is seen giving newcomers tours and the like.
Paladin trainee is a step-up rank for those who have potential to rise further. You can get here by activity, but any further promotions depend more on ideas and responsibility rather than sheer activity alone. After all, if your character is promoted, they should be able to handle events properly and everything else that comes with the responsibility of their duty.
Look to the HP guide here for more info about what your character is expected to do.
