  • It had been a bit of time since the fight between Mike and Steve. The feline had heard what had happened after she had left the place, and wasn't pleased in the slightest. After all, Mike was injured as can be. What was he doing trying to fight with someone clearly in perfect health? Honestly, she wasn't sure. The older feline's reaction to Mike's actions was what really set her off. He ended up insulting him and everyone else. It bothered her that someone could be so arrogant for so long. Normally these things wouldn't bother her so much, but something about this made her really irritated. Was it because of the situation then, or just how rude he was towards everyone? Maybe both.

Lierre tried not to think about this now though as she wandered a little ways outside of camp. She wasn't going to go to far due to their war status, but she was going to leave for a little bit. After all, she needed to get some herbs for her own personal stash. Not only that, but she would likely have to make her own shelter due to not having anywhere in camp to stay. If she was going to do this then she would have to get some supplies and ideas.

So, off the female went to look for herbs and supplies for both herself and maybe ChessPieces. She knew she wasn't technically supposed to leave camp by herself, but she didn't need anyone near her at the moment. What she needed was a bit of a breather from everything so she could have time to think. Think about the state the clan was in, and think a little about how she was going to adapt to it. She had never really been at war with other people after all. She had always been at war with herself and that was it. To be at war with a whole group of other people was unsettling despite having her clanmates to be by her side if something happened.

With a small sigh, Lierre began to pick some herbs and such putting them into a woven ivy basket.

    oh dude np at all!//

Steve knew he wasn't supposed to be outside of camp. It was dangerous right now for a plethora of reasons, and he was taking a risk when doing so. Did that stop him? Hell no. Steve was being his usual reckless, carefree self, jumping from tree branch to tree branch and having a great time doing it.

The great time stopped when he spotted Lierre down below. She had been at Billy's joining, and at the 'fight' between him and Mike. She'd seen his worst two moments, where he'd been the worst person he'd been in a while. What was she even doing outside of camp? He didn't see a reason until he spotted the basket and the herbs inside. "Fucking great," he grumbled. He knew that Lierre liked him about as much as he liked her, and that meant that she did not like him. Being the sensible, mature person he was, he called out to her. "What the hell are you doing here?" Still in the trees, Steve was practically out of sight.

  • What the hell are you doing here?

Honestly, Steve was the last person she wanted to hear from at the moment. She was already on edge from everything that was going on. Hearing his voice just made it about ten times worse. Actually, it might have been more then that. She didn't care though as she set the herbs in her mouth into the basket before speaking up.

"I could ask the same," Lierre said in a slightly bitter tone not even bothering to look around for him. No, she wouldn't even waste her time trying to figure out where he was. She had things to get and important problems to think about. After all, something told her something extremely horrifying would come of this war. Something maybe more horrifying then when her mother passed.

The feline continued collecting herbs keeping a calm that would make some people uneasy. Instead of showing her bitterness in her expression she showed a collected look. It was kind of odd since the feline usually tried to smile around other people. A slightly fake smile sometimes, but still a smile.

Steve watched the feline as she collected herself and responded, continuing on her way. Steve felt ignored, and he gave his tail a single flick before climbing clumsily backwards down the trunk of the pine tree, landing with a thud on all four paws about ten feet away from her, in front of her and to her left. His shades gave a jump as he landed, nearly falling off. He took them off, letting them rest on his forehead with the ends tucked behind his ears.

His amber optics pointed at the basket and then at her, he gave a passive aggressive, subtle yet there glare. Steve was not one to hide any emotion he felt. Very expressive, he had a reaction for everything, so seeing Lierre so calm and collected despite her irritation was odd. "Why is that any of your business? I'm technically older than you, so you might want to think about respecting your elders," he said, his head held high. Steve was approximately 18 months physically, and 18 years mentally, but was acting less mature than Lierre.

  • Upon hearing a soft thump the feline looked up and glanced over at the male. She couldn't deny, it was slightly odd seeing him with his eyes actually visible. Usually he had his shades on so it was a bit odd. Didn't stop her from continuing what she was doing ignoring him a little initially. When he spoke she kept a relatively bored look. At least, until the last sentence that is.

A very subtle, amused smile graced her maw as she looked at the male's glare. Oh, how funny it was to see him so angry. "Are you sure about that because you are acting like a kitten," Lierre said with a short, quiet chuckle. After that she picked up her basket and began to walk past him. As she reached his side she flashed him a small, mocking smile and continued walking away from him. It was amusing how irritated he was getting just by her being there. Maybe seeing him wasn't that bad. After all, she could use him as a stress reliever. A punching bag in a way.

As she continued to ignore him, he realized that she had caught on, albeit subtly, to the fact that it annoyed him, so he decided to hide it, putting on the face he’d usually put on at times when talking to people he hated, like Billy, or Jonathan, both from Hawkins, but one, the former, currently residing here, like him. Closing his eyes momentarily as the female approached, Steve reopened them. Having caught the mocking smile, the chocolate colored tom listened to what she had to say. He gave a shrug, shielding a small stab of annoyance in his chest. “Whatever you say,” he said, looking down at his paws and turning to face her, as she was now behind him. The tom’s amber gaze settled on making eye contact.

“Well,” he said, his ear twitching once or twice. “What are you doing out here? Other than putting random plants into a pretty little basket,” he said, gesturing towards the basket filled with what he didn’t know were herbs. The male detected in Lierre’s amused smile and mocking gaze that she was enjoying antagonizing him. It made him feel a bit annoyed, but what could be done, honestly? It’s not like he could make her go away. “What are those, anyways?” he asked. “More plants for that little pansy Gardner?”

  • After a couple moments Lierre set her basket down again near a yet another plant. She soon began taking what she needed from it listening to his words as he wasn't super far away from her. No, he was a good distance but not that far. When she heard the last part she found herself chuckling a little. She wasn't that surprised that he didn't know what the herbs were. After all, he didn't seem to be the type of person to be knowledgeable on medicine.

"I decided to take a break from camp," The feline answered though she was being honest. She needed a break from the noise and activity in camp. Being that she was used to being by herself out in the enchanted forest she wasn't used to it. "And these aren't for Everett. These are medical herbs for both me and Chesspieces," She added as she cut off what she needed from the plant with her claws. She didn't chop up the plant or anything though. No, it was clear from how smooth and careful she was that she knew how to handle them. So, when she cut off leaves or got seeds from plants she got exactly what she wanted. Nothing more, nothing less.

"What made you decide to leave the camp?" Lierre questioned as she finished up with the plant she was gathering from. She also sheathed her claws as she looked at the herbs and began making a mental note of all she had and how much she had gathered so far.

Nodding at the female's reply, he couldn't find any reason not to believe her. He usually looked for one, since he'd been lied to and deceived several times. The male figured it was better safe than sorry. It was almost a shame that they weren't for Everett, since if they were, he would have gladly ruined them in some way or another.

Shrugging at her returned question, he decided to answer. "Doing things." To be perfectly honest, he was out here partially for fun and partially for the sake of being rebellious, but he wasn't going to say that. "Like, you know, tree climbing. Working out. Being better than you," he added quietly, just loud enough for her to hear. Steve was petty as fuck, and he wasn't going to hide it.

  • The female glanced over at him as she listened to the last few words. She let out a soft chuckle again as she looked back at her basket. She knew well that being better didn't mean being physically or mentally stronger. To her it didn't mean it at all. No, she was quite weak in comparison to him on that note. After all, she was the one who mentally beat herself to a pulp at night and rarely fought anyone unless she felt it was what she had to do. To her though that wasn't what made her a bit better then him. No, it was the fact she had opened her heart to her clan.

"Says the one who destroyed someone's joy on purpose," Lierre said back as she looked back at her herbs with a bored look. She made sure that everything was just the way she needed it to be organized before speaking again. "Does that make you better? Being able to be is arrogant and cruel to others?" She asked trying to keep her fury at bay. She refused to show him exactly how she felt. Honestly, she wasn't angry at his comment. No, she was angry that someone could be so uncaring. She had grown up to show people kindness, especially her mother. No matter what she did she tried her best to keep a smile on her face for her no matter how hard it was. She did that with just about everyone.

    Well, everyone but Steve.

He was the one thing that actually drove her to show some emotion that was leaning towards the negative side. Usually she tried to be positive for people, but he....he was just so frustrating. How could someone lack compassion as much as he did? She couldn't understand it. It made her want to claw her eyes out sometimes.

Steve looked up at her when she laughed, he looked back up at her, a grin appearing on his face. He knew he'd struck a nerve, and it was refreshing after her ignoring him for the entirety of this interaction. At her first comment, he nodded. "That I did." He'd have normally felt bad, but recently he was becoming a bit more emotionally numb each day. With everyone he knew and loved either missing or angry at him, he hardly cared how others thought of him anymore (at least personality-wise). "Well, it depends on who it is, but I'd say I'm feeling pretty damn good right now," he said, a mocking expression on his face, his words laced with sarcasm.

Steve was also behaving the way he had recently because he felt, in a way, threatened. Threatened, because he'd finally, finally gotten the one person out of his life who'd tormented, emasculated, mocked, and humiliated him in front of all his peers, and he turned right back up again. Billy Hargrove, the greatest douchebag on the planet. He felt the same way as he did when that creep Jonathan had gotten together with his now ex-girlfriend Nancy. A tiny hint of exasperation flashed in his amber optics, which quickly darted to the ground. Sighing, he continued. "So, yeah. Long story short, I feel great about everything, and thank you for asking." He flashed a fake grin, returning eye contact for a brief second.

  • Lierre quickly noticed his grin when he looked at her. That grin of accomplishment that she despised so much. It made her furious to see him taking pride in what he had done. It was like people's emotions were irrelevant to him. The only emotions he wanted on someone was pain, anger, or hurt. It was disgusting.

"Of course you are," The female said quietly as she looked away for a moment, her ivy green hues flashing with something other then fury for a moment. It was brief and hard to see, but there was almost this sadness to them. She wasn't sure what caused it at that moment, but it happened. She quickly covered it up though by returning to her bored look. She wasn't going to let Steve get to far under her skin. He already was irritating enough as it was.

"People like you take out whatever they need onto others with no shame. No sense of guilt. It's revolting," She said almost seeming to be talking to herself now. She hadn't even really realized that she had finally revealed why she didn't like him. She was just focused on her thoughts and anger, and her rational mind was slowly going out the window. It was a horrible feeling to lose control, but it happened from time to time. After all, she couldn't hide her feelings all the time. They had to come out at some point.

With that said, she began to pick up her basket again getting ready to head off once more to gather a couple more things. Mainly some extra herbs for sleep. She had grown to use the plant after her mother had passed away, and nightmares began to bother her rest. It was the only thing that could make her sleep when it actually did work. Something that wasn't too often, but enough to make sure she was healthier.

Steve nodded at her first statement, still actively putting up his facade, the purpose of which was to piss Lierre off to her breaking point. He did find it mildly funny to see people angry, even though he knew he shouldn't. It was even funnier seeing people he didn't like angry, and he forced back a real grin at her anger. Seeing a flash of sadness in her eyes, his amusement died down and fizzled. He didn't like seeing people sad, save for one or two, and though he did feel a tiny bit bad, he hid it.

At her next statement, a bubble of anger and/or defensiveness rose in his chest, bursting in the form of a sentence. "Hey, this may come as a surprise to you, but I do feel some sort of guilt for what I did, so why don't you shut your goddamn mouth." It came out so fast that he couldn't keep it from coming or take it back, albeit the fact that it was true. He felt absolutely terrible about making Mike cry, and although it wasn't much, he did feel a distant pang of remorse for the way he'd been towards Everett. Amber gaze blazing, Steve stared fiercely at the ground. He closed his eyes, thinking to himself. Way to go you fucking genius. You just revealed your feelings to an asshole bitch!

  • Lierre looked at him with a bit of surprise as he snapped at her. It wasn't the fact that he had snapped at her that surprised her. No, she was quite used to that from past experiences. It was his words that made her stop. She wasn't entirely sure if she should believe his words. After all, people say irrational things when angry. She learned that from first-hand experience.

After she turned her head towards him she realized he was telling the truth. Even with his amber eyes blazing with fury she could see the inner feelings. The ones he must have been hiding earlier. With that she set down her basket so she could speak.

"And there is the truth," The feline murmured once she set down the basket. She tried her best to hide whatever emotions she felt as she looked at him. She wasn't sure if she should trust that he was guilty, but she did. Anger was one of those things that she learned was tied to another emotion. So, what was that other emotion that made him so angry towards her all the time?

"If you feel guilt then you should tell Mike or Everett. Whether you actually tell them I don't care," Lierre said as her ivy green hues watched him carefully. It was odd since he almost seemed to be trying to mask his feelings with a different one just like her. The only difference was that he hurt people consistently while she tried to help others. He showed anger while she tried to smile. Maybe they weren't so different on certain things.

Steve grumbled, closing his eyes with a deep sigh. He felt like he'd gotten some sort of weight off his chest, but he also felt like he was telling this to the wrong person. Steve still wasn't fond of Lierre, and probably wouldn't be for a while. "Look, you tell anyone I just said that," he said, opening his eyes, them still blazing with part fury, part regret. "You'll be fucking sorry." The statement sounded a lot more aggressive and threat-like than he had intended, and he shook his head. "I mean -" he forced back a laugh, grinning. "God, what a fucking douche," he said in a low whisper, talking about himself. The grin died quickly. Putting a paw to his temple, he attempted to rephrase. "Just don't tell a single person about this, okay?" He slid his sunglasses on, still looking at Lierre. If this got out, then, in his mind, people would see him as weak, whether or not that was true or not. At her suggestion about Mike or Everett, he hesitantly (and vaguely) responded. "I might. We'll see." The last thing he wanted to do was to suck up to Everett.

  • Lierre gave a small nod as he spoke. Honestly, she figured he wouldn't want anyone to know. From what she could tell he was the type that didn't want to appear weak. So, admitting guilt would likely be seen as weak to him. A little understandable, but to her it still didn't make him strong to deny it. She wouldn't say this though as she felt it wasn't necessary.

"You have my word," The feline assured him and a soft smile graced her maw as he said he may apologize. This smile wasn't mocking or anything. No, it was quite genuine. Now that she was seeing a different side of him her mind was slowly (and I mean slowly) beginning to change. Maybe, just maybe, he wasn't as bad as she had thought of him initially. "And I'm sure if you apologized things may start to improve between you and them," She added indirectly speaking about his current state with the two. So far neither were found of him, but maybe he could change that with a little bit of effort.

Letting out a small sigh of relief, he still looked at her with a sort of untrusting gaze. She now had verbal ammunition against him. She could let word out and humiliate him (even though, if anybody heard, they'd probably be glad that he was sorry). Steve gave it a thought. He'd admitted he was wrong and guilty several times in the past, and all it had really done was make him feel... Better.

Nodding reluctantly, he sighed. "Yeah, I'll try with Mike, but I know he's still mad at me. That kid's always held a grudge." Mike had kept being mad about a lot of things from even his past life, so Steve didn't see how the younger tom would make him an exception. "As for Everett... we'll see." Steve did still feel genuinely a little bad after verbally beating Everett down to the point of tears, but this was a matter of pure pettiness.
