  •   TAGS Out of the dark forest and into the dark ocean. He had not made it all the way across. The chilly wind had thwarted with his crossing and the rocks had been slick from the recent high tide. The tom had slipped from the breakwater at the northern end of the island. Once the surprised face had vanished beneath the ocean one would have guessed that was the end of that, but Kidd was a pirate cat and a strong swimmer because of it. The short distance to land that remained, the juvenile swam. The shivering body emerged from the cruel water onto the dark sandy shore. His blue-grey fur was flattened to his body and his singular golden eye burned from exposure to the salty liquid.

Kidd took a shaky step forward. The ruffians that lived here would need to find him. He sought them for he need their help. He would freeze without a shelter. The air around him was busy freezing the water stuck in his matted fur. The lands of the Black Isle were harsh and unforgiving. Kidd was not used to the chilling breezes. He was only familiar with the warm rays of the sun and the burning beach sand. Still the air here was salty too, yet it burned with a stinging cold.

The trainee called to the beach in his high-pitched and scratchy voice, ”Ahoy! I am a former member of the pirate crew, The Skulls! Me name is Kidd if any of ye remember. This is not the Skulls but could this be what’s left of ‘em? I have had a fall into ye sea and I would like to take shelter regardless!”

  • The voice of an young male attracted the mender upon the scene, the harsh glacial winds ruffling her fur and her bandanna as she traveled to the source. An former member by the name of Kidd, of The Skulls which had been converted into the Black Isle. The amnesiac female conjured up an warm blanket, attempting to pass it to the male as her gentle, rich Japanese accented voice rumbled from her lips. "Welcome back, I'm Hiyori- the mender here."

Though despite her short coat, it had an faint thickness layer which protect her from the chilling breeze and snow. Then her bandanna which she always wore, clutched the warmth around her neck and kept her neck warm from the cold weather.

  • Why did that name sound so familiar? Had he been a part of the Skulls during Sel's time as Captain? Xylia had more than enough questions for him the second she spotted him being greeted by Hiyori. A pang went through her at the sight of him at the same time though, reminding of a time that continued to put in the far reaches of her mind. Burrowing through a thick little snow drift, she shook her thickening fur out and scampered onto the black sand to greet him. "Hello there, and welcome to the Black Isle!" Hadn't he been a part of the Skulls the same time as Terra? And Nico, and Edward, and Sel, maybe? "I'm Xylia. I used to be a member of the Skulls, too, but I'm the Pirate Queen of the Black Isle now." At least Hiyori was on it in getting Kidd warmed up.

  •   TAGS The young buccaneer smiled a wide toothy smile in greeting to the bandana clad tortie. The smile only grew when suddenly a blanket materialized from nowhere and passed to him. All before words were even spoken! Kidd was surprised by the warmth of the natives despite the cool environment. His greedy paws accepted the blanket and he wrapped it around his body and held it with his forepaws. He listened to the strange voice of the femme. ”Ahoy to ye, Hiyori. And thank you fer this blanket. Then this must be the Skulls?” The mender had said welcome back, hadn’t she? Must have meant he had arrived where the rest of the ragtag crew resided. They certainly had changed…

Kidd’s single eye trained upon a ferret scurrying nearer. Her light fur almost blended with the sparse snow but stood out against the black sand. Kidd barely remembered a ferret. He had perhaps met Xylia and Selfdestruction once before in the Skulls old terrirtory, but his memory was vastly full of times of Wolfgate and Ymir. With Xylia’s words he gained more information. This was not the Skulls but another group now. It was a bummer to Kidd who had hoped the old crew still thrived. This was the Black Isle. ”Arr! The Black Isle, huh? It is what is left of the crew? If ye are a real rough and tough pirate crew then I have journeyed to find ye and join ye.” He drew the blanket’s fabric over his head and began to massage with his paws in order to dry his fur.

  • "SPEECH" ••• THOUGHTS

This joiner looked like a real pirate! Sure, all the Isleites were pirates, but none of them bore the hook hands and peg legs that the ones in fiction always did, nor did any of them speak with the trademark accent she heard so often before. Perhaps all that did stay within fiction, she had decided. Perhaps pirate groups had moved beyond the traditional icons of their profession. But now, someone who actually looked and sounded like a true pirate was here, eyepatch and everything! From what she overheard before making her way over, it seemed like he knew of the Skulls, too, something that led her to wonder whether this group had formerly bore everything they now lacked to make them appear as a perfect pirate crew. All that stuff was cool, but now that she thought about it, keeping the accent would get old quickly. Plus, she wasn't exactly eager to lose an eye or a limb, even with how gloriously rugged it would make her look.

Still, it was pretty awesome to see a real pirate, even if she didn't think she would want to adopt all the traits herself. Wei finally padded up to the group, wearing a light smile as she ducked behind her fellow Isleites only to be pushed forward by Bao, the little femme jokingly scowling at the giant salamander before turning to Kidd. Strange name, but hey, she wasn't one to talk. Besides, it sorta fitted him. "Hi!... uh..." As she piped up, one paw fiddled with the striped scarf she donned, gaze sliding to the side as she trailed off before brightening and focusing back on Kidd. "You... you were here when we were still the Skulls, right? Are you... a real pirate? Like, have you gone on amazing adventures to find treasures and fought in battles atop ships? Is that where you got your eyepatch?" She couldn't help blurting out a few questions, head dipping down as she realized she didn't even introduce herself. Man, she was just great at greeting joiners, huh? "Right, my name is Wei... welcome back, I guess? Yeah, welcome back! Nice to meet you!" Juuuust great.
