  • "That was kind of him," Rey said softly, before suddenly sitting bolt upright, her eyes wide and alarm. "I sense--"

Suddenly, Rey and the dark world around them were ripped away like a sheet out of a notebook. Darlu's door opened, and in its place stood Kylo Ren. "Darlu?" he asked, looking around and spotting her quickly. "Darlu--! I wanted to speak with you.." He looked nervous, and there was a remnant of a blush on his face.

  • Darlu looked up at him, her eyes widening in fear. She then looked back at the space where Rey had been only to find her gone. She frowned deeply in confusion but pushed it aside. It could wait

Darlu looked back at Kylo, his nervousness reflected on her. “Am I in trouble?” She asked softly. His fury was still fresh on her mind

  • There was a cold, uncertain look on Darlu’s face. But after a minute she nodded anyway. Her journal was still clutched tightly to her. She had never shown Kylo what was inside of it.

  • Kylo sat quietly with his legs crossed a few feet away from her. He looked at her gently, not asking about the journal. "I know you haven't had the best experiences with the Dark Side, Darlu.. but I have to tell you, you will never be as powerful as you would if you used it. The Dark Side is the strongest side of the Force. It can be used for evil. Or you can use it to preserve the First Order. The Resistance is weak, Darlu, not strong enough to keep this galaxy intact without sending it dissolving into turmoil. We need to replace it."

  • Darlu gazed at him, her mind racing with thoughts. She slowly frowned in confusion. "I use to be told the same thing about the First Order. I was told they were evil, and that using the Dark Side would only make me bad like them. But... there are bad things about both sides. How can I know whose the good guys and whose the bad guys? " She looked away from him, and down at the ground. "And both sides have taken something from me," she whispered.

  • Chapter six done!

Kylo had been searching the training room for several minutes. No matter how many times he called for her, Darlu didn't answer him. Finally, he looked into some of the unused pipes in the back of the room. There she was, huddled in the center of one shaking.

"Darlu," he said, relieved, "Come out."

The girl looked over at him. She remained still for a minute before crawling out. She stood up in front of him, her eyes still wide with fear. Kylo gently placed a hand on her shoulder. "They're gone," he assured her.

Darlu relaxed, grateful. "Is it always like that? Is there always fighting and anger?" she asked him softly.

Kylo shook his head. "We were not angry with each other. Just frustrated, but she never meant a word of it."

She nodded, satisfied. "Who was she?"

"Another member of the Knights of Ren."

Darlu frowned, clearly not wanting to accept the answer, but she only nodded. Kylo turned, and walked back to the center of the room, clearly expecting Darlu to follow him. She did, for they were both ready to begin her training.

Kylo turned to her once he had reached the center of the room, and he raised his staff again. "Show me what you remember from the day before," he instructed her.

Darlu closed her eyes as she began going through the forms. Her movements were precise and smooth, lacking any error. Only her footing was slightly off, a mistake even adults were bad to make. Once she was finished, she lowered the staff and opened her eyes. She looked at Kylo, seeking approval. She wanted to make him proud.

Kylo was staring at her. He was impressed, very impressed. She had caught on so easily, and was already on the path to mastering the forms in two days. Not even he had learned so quickly. "Are you sure you never trained like this before?" he asked numbly.

Darlu nods. "I..use to watch the boys in my village train some. I wouldn't call it training through. I was never allowed to join in," she trailed off. She lowered her head, her grief consuming her. She missed her old home, her old life, no matter how badly she tried to deny it. "I guess I'm just a quick learner," she added in a mutter.

Kylo stared at her quietly and found himself feeling sympathy for her. "Well," he said slowly, "you've impressed me. Come on. Let's work more on the forms you need the most practice with."

Darlu looked up at him, shocked. She thought she had disappointed him. Smiling, she nodded eagerly. Kylo smiled softly underneath his helmet, filling with pride. He slid into another demonstrative position, starting with the first form in order that she needed to practice more.

Darlu copied his form the best she could. Her footing, which seemed to be her weakness, was slightly off. Before Kylo could correct her, Elli walked back into the room. She nodded to Kylo, her face void of emotion. "Supreme Leader has summoned you and the girl Master," she informed him. She knew he hated to be interrupted, but when it came to Snoke, no one had a choice.

Kylo lowered his staff, knowing the training session was over. "Thank you Elli," he said with a slight dip of his head. His tone was neutral, revealing without words there was no anger. He understand. "Come Darlu," he ordered as he walked out of the room. Darlu trailed after him, wondering where he had ordered her to follow. He never had in the past.

Elli walked out beside Darlu, clearly having been summoned as well. She looked down at the child. "What is your name little one?" she asked kindly.

Darlu looked up at her, and smiled. "Darlu," she answered her, and Elli returned her smile. The two of them continued to talk in murmurs as Kylo walked ahead of them in silence. Once they reached Snoke's door, they too quieted. Darlu moved behind Kylo, trembling terrible. Elli's gaze landed the man, awaiting his lead.

Kylo stood there hesitantly for a long moment before pushing the doors open and walking inside. He knelt immediately before Snoke, his head bowed. "Master." Snoke's eyes trailed from Kylo to Darlu, cowering behind him, then to Elli who was bowed beside him. He narrowed his eyes.

"There has been reports of Resistance presence on Tarrix 17. I am sending you to eliminate it. The girl and Elli will go with you. It is an easy mission, and will be an excellent first one for the child. Elli has had enough time to recover from her shoulder wound," Snoke explained.

"Yes, my master," Kylo murmured, lowering his head further. "We will go at once."

"Go," Snoke said with a wave of his hand, dismissing them. His displeased gaze shifted back to Darlu. The girl's cowardliness would have to be dealt with.

Kylo rose immediately, and, taking a not ungentle hold of Darlu's arm, swiftly left the room. The girl gazed up at him in confusion, but didn't struggle. Elli trailed after them, her head low.

"Come on...we need to get you ready for your first mission," Kylo muttered.

Fear replaced Darlu's confusion. "What's...what's going to happen?" she whispered.

Kylo was silent for a moment. "We will search for the rebels. And if we find them, we will eliminate them."

Darlu stopped, yanking her arm out of his grasp. "If it's anything like what happened at my village, I won't do it," she looked away. "I can't," she added in a whisper. Her voice began to wobble as she spoke, " I can't watch more innocent people die because of this war."

"They are not innocents," Kylo said coldly. "They are rebels, traitors to the First Order."

"And what about me? I had no part in this war, and yet you still came and destroyed my home! What about the children there like me? What will happen to them?" Darlu demanded, her tiny hands curling into fists. Elli had stopped in tracks moments before, and now gazed curiously between master and apprentice. She had never known of anyone bold enough to speak to Kylo in such a way besides Snoke and Hux. She wanted to see what would happen.

Kylo sharply pointed at her. "What happens to them doesn't matter to you. You will focus on your training and watch what you say," he warned tightly.

Darlu flinched away from him, bumping into Elli. Elli only stepped back. The girl looked off to the side, not meeting either of their gazes. "How can I not care? I would have been one of them if it hadn't been for my gift," she spat softly.

Kylo closed his eyes beneath his mask and curled his fists. "Precisely," he murmured in a low voice. "And you can still be removed as easily as any one of them."

Darlu looked back at him, her eyes burning with hate and fury. However, she kept silent this time. She knew speaking would only make things worse, and possibly get her into real trouble. A rift had been created.

  • (Awesome!!! ;DD)

Kylo gazed back at her with soft thoughtfulness. "Perhaps there isn't truly a good or bad side," he said quietly. "Perhaps it's more like me. My Master has trained me to be able to wield both the light side and the dark, make usage of them both. Although weaker, an ability to wield the light side provides for an important power: that of healing injury. Perhaps you would like to be trained the same way?"

  • (Thank you)

Darlu looked back at him, surprise flickering across her face. After a moment, she nodded slowly. "I've always felt both sides inside of me," she confessed softly. "Because of what everyone told me, I've always been scared, no, terrified, of the dark side within me. When it took control of me in front of Snoke, I had never felt sicker." She finally looked away again, unable to meet his gaze. "Perhaps there is a balance between two, a border. An area of grey."

  • Dalru looked at him, reading his words carefully. She narrowed her eyes. "You're afraid of Snoke, aren't you?" she demanded softly. Her tone gave away she already knew the answer. She suddenly closed her eyes. "And your angered, but by what I can't tell."

  • Darlu opened her eyes, looking at him with fear in her eyes. "There are times when I fear you too," she whispered. She suddenly stood, her journal in hand. "I-I shou-should go," she muttered, losing her nerve. She was more than afraid of him. She was terrified of him. (have him grab her arm or touch her shoulder or something. Me have an idea)

  • (come on he wasn't THAT mad, mostly just flustered XD)

Kylo turned around, looking shocked. He hesitantly reached out to take hold of her shoulder. "Darlu, wait--"

  • (Darlu just has a lot of issues with life.)

The moment he touched her shoulder, he was dragged back in time to a life which wasn't his. He stood off to the side, a silent and invisible witness, to the scene playing out before him. A younger version of Darlu, only three or four, was crouched outside of an open door. Inside, a man whose face was hidden in the shadows was arguing with a woman whose faces was fuzzy. "What kind of life will she have in the middle of war!" the woman cried. The man placed his hands on her shoulders. "I've already lost my family once to the First Order, I don't want to lose you two as well. We need to stay together."

The scene suddenly shifted. Now Darlu, still only four, was standing to the door of a hanger. Smoking Resistance ships were landing, and she appeared to be desperately scanning for one. The same women from the first scene appeared, crying and rubbing her eyes. "Where's Daddy?" Darlu whimpered as she passed by her. The woman paused long enough to say, "He's not coming back. He's dead!" before she vanished along with the vision.

The third vision found Kylo watching as Darlu stood beside a different woman. This one was clear. The woman appeared in her early 20s with smooth black hair and brown eyes. She had a hand placed on Darlu's shoulder as a ship took off, also a Resistance ship. Darlu's eyes were puffy from crying, but no tears were shed as the Resistance left her behind.

Kylo was suddenly thrown back into the room, in the present. Darlu stared at him with wide eyes. "How did you see that?" she whispered.

  • Kylo was so startled and shaken from what he had seen that he jerked back, stumbling and almost falling on his behind. He looked at her, stunned, and managed to stammer, "I-I don't know.. i-it must be some kind of Force link between us..." What did I just see? he thought, astounded as he stared at Darlu, still clearly unsettled. Did she see anything from MY past..? The possibility alarmed him even more.

  • Darlu looked away from him, clearly just as shaken. “Did Snoke tell you my parents were with the Resistance?” She asked softly. If she had seen anything from his past, she didn’t hint at it. Instead, she seemed concerned with what he had learned about her
