He'd rarely heard of laughter? And Paladin though falcon was the weird one. But now it was even stranger, Falcon saw that astonished, gaping look on Paladin's face, and Falcon took one step back in alarm. Quickly looking behind him, his tail started to bristle. "What? Is there something behind me?" He meowed in alarm.

"No." Paladin meowed. "I didn't think your eyes could get any stranger. But lo and beyond, I'm wrong."
-
"My eyes...? Uhm, OK, what did my eyes do?" Falcon asked, the lavender coloring glittering with confusion. He wasn't aware of the fact that Paladin was talking about the warm glow from just a few moments before.
-
"I don't know. They just looked nice. Like… Not icy." Paladin meowed. "Whenever my dad looks at me it's always with ice in his eyes. I never realized how chilly it was when he looked at me until now." He didn't know what was in Falcon's eyes right now, but he knew what wasn't there.
-
Falcon still didn't quite get it, but from what Paladin said, he was guessing his eyes weren't harsh, but kind. But to have your own father look down at you with harsh, icy eyes... that was a terrible thing to have happen to you. "Well, I'm sorry about that Paladin, it's never a nice feeling when your own family looks at you like that..." He meowed, feeling a sudden compulsion to comfort Paladin.
-
"I didn't even realize he did that before you…" Paladin meowed softly, ears drooping. He'd never known anything more the icy eyes of this father. The serval hadn't come to expect anything else- that was the norm. So when the tom had looked at him like that? It was overwhelming.
-
C***, how was I supposed to know this? He thought to himself, and Falcon's urge to comfort Paladin grew further. Biting his lower lip, he gave a soft, inaudible sigh. Comfort her would deliver for this mess he caused. "Hey... it's OK, I'm pretty sure he never means to look at you like that. Heck, I'm pretty sure Elixor is just as proud of you as he is himself." He meowed, padding up the short distance between him and the Serval. He didn't know what to do other then speak, so...
He rested his smokey, feathery tail against Paladin's shoulder.
-
Paladin looked up at the tom at feeling his touch, and rested his head on the tom's shoulders. He had to hunch to do it, but it felt tingly. "I really…" Nay, this feeling in him was not lust, there would likely never be a point where he would feel that way for a guy. But he did feel loved. And not in that gay way either. One of this mystic creatures had just deigned to love him. He was nothing special, he was even less than special. Afraid of the dark, as afraid of the light he was the empire above him meant little. He could never fight their battles. "Can you adopt me?" Paladin had never felt more loved than he had at this moment in time. He really liked it.
Elixor had paid attention to Epiphany when she had whined for his attention. But this tom hadn't had to be asked. His silence hadn't made him invisible. Paladin wanted this father.
-
Oh jeez, what do I do? WHAT DO I DO? Falcon's heart rate went up under such a situation. Paladin wanted Falcon to adopt him? That'd be slightly awkward, besides, he'd most likely be banished. But as Paladin's head was resting on his shoulder, Falcon didn't know what to do.
Say the wrong thing, and he'd hurt Paladin, say the other wrong thing, he'd still end up hurting Paladin. Not only that, but falcon had really only just met the guy, and now this had happened? Sure, the tom felt affection, a pull to Paladin like a moth to light. It wasn't necessarily bad, just more... awkward for Falcon himself.
Closing his brilliant lavender eyes, he took in a deep breath. What was he supposed to do? Supposed to say? Falcon didn't know what to do.
"I... Paladin, if I was to adopt you, your father might not like that and..." He was starting to get the horrid choking feeling in his throat, as he took in another breathe. "And that might result with me going to the prison, or... or I get banished." He tried keeping his voice as calm as possible, but it did shake here and there. Oh, how emotionally one could get in just a matter of moments.
-
Paladin's eyes narrowed as an inkling of testosterone edged into him. He was young for a serval- so it wasn't much. But it was there. "Who says he has to know?" This feeling was strange. He felt protective. "If you go I'm going with you." Sure, this was fast. But Paladin was seeing a good thing here. He didn't want to loose it. IT was the best thing he'd ever had in his life.
-
Falcon felt a little nervous at this fact, and took in another breath. Was he sure about this? After all, that most likely meant that is Elixor found out, they were gone. "Are you absolutely sure Paladin? I mean, why? Why do you want me to adopt you?"
He needed a good explanation before he was dragged into something. Though, Falcon wanted it to be that they could have it there way, that life was good. Life is almost never good... He thought to himself, but he wanted to know why Paladin no longer wished to be the son of Elixor. Why he wanted Falcon instead. It was all so.... confusing and slightly heart warming at the same time.
-
"I've never had a guy treat me the way you have. I really like it." Paladin meowed. He hadn't known Falcon for very long, but already he aspired to be like him. "Cross that, I've never had anyone but my mother treat me this way. And that time is long past."
-
Falcon nodded his smokey head, lavender eyes contrasting to his otherwise drab fur. In truth, he wasn't that much older then Paladin. The Serval was thirteen moons, Falcon himself was sixteen. Just a three year difference. How awkward could that be?
Sighing, he put on a soft smile. How much of an adventure would this be? Falcon Tibious would never give up on an adventure, not on his life. "Alright Paladin... but this is our secret? Mkay?" Oh how his heart writhed in a tight fear that he was making the wrong mistake. But... maybe Paladin would see that this wasn't the right idea? That he should stay a Tufani?
But then the thought crossed his mind? Would Paladin take on Falcon's last name? No... he'll always be Paladin Tufani. No matter what. That thought helped ease Falcon, but all in all, he awaited to see the next move.
-
"I'm fine with that." Paladin found himself purring. Huh. His fur crawled at the idea. Someone else had made him happy. "What's your full name?" He asked in an almost conspiratorial whisper. The idea of this secret was thrilling. There were so many of the Tufani family, and when they reached breeding age there would be so many more. But how many cats in the world would have his new father's last name? Meh. Well, Paladin found himself not caring. This father meant the world to him.
-
His full name? Oh, now where was this to lead? But Paladin see,ed to happy... "My full name is Falcon Tibious." Oh how this would get them both into so much trouble if any cat had ever found out...
But that was that, at least Falcon had brightened someone's life. Er, day. At least that was what Falcon thought.
-
"Paladin Tibious…" He mulled the name in his mouth for a moment, enjoying the taste. He looked to Falcon's worried lavender eyes. "Don't worry, I shan't say that in public."
-
Ah, that news helped ease Falcon in a slight way. Giving off a small smile, even though the circumstance was very weird. "Well then Paladin, er, what would you like to do now?" He asked, perhaps Paladin would forget about it all, if they played a game or something?
What am I thinking... Paladin's thirteen moons, games? Pft. He thought to himself, awaiting a response.
-
"I dunno, lets just keep on talking." Paladin meowed. "Like… I dunno."
-
((Should we get more people involved with this thread?))
"Talk... uhm, I can tell you more about outside if you want." Falcon said to his new adopted son. Was that really right? Ah well, perhaps Paladin would be intrigued enough about the bright, colorful worked outside.
Sure, the tom would never force Paladin to go outside, but talking about it may encourage him...
-
OOC: If you like ^^
"As long as I don't have to be out there." Paladin meowed, shrinking against the ground scarily. Even the world outside was terrifying.
