  • Teal was from a litter of four, and her mother was a runaway pet cat. She had given birth to her kittens near the river, while being pursued by humans. She thought they were safe, until the humans came, rampaging into the den. They shoved the hissing, clawing mother into a cage, then turned their attention the panicked kittens. Teal darted in between the huge, grabby hands, and ran, not looking where she was going. A hand had attempted to snatch her as well, but missed, sweeping the tiny kit into the churning, freezing water below. Helplessly she plunged into the water, quickly swept away by the strong current. "Help!" She squealed, but her mouth filled with water, and she sank, pinned under the merciless river water. It was no use fighting the current.

The small kit was washed up on RiverClan territory, her pelt cold as ice. She had been knocked unconscious by rocks at the bottom of the river, and the RiverClan warriors would soon find a limp, small scrap of fur on their shore.

  • BERRYPAW

Maybe a cat more experienced would have been better off finding the half-drowned kitten, but as it stands, Berrypaw was the first one to arrive. The bright white fur along his spine stood up on end as he quickly realized what he had found was not actually a water vole, but a young cat, one who probably wouldn't survive without aid.

But what could he do? He couldn't handle this alone- he--

Looking over the soggy ball of fuzz, he gently tried to pick her up. If he could get this kit to camp, she would be fine.

    ....He hoped.

  • "Berrypaw?" A grey feline with white splashed markings arrived in the scene. From the way Rainsplash approached Berrypaw, she couldn't see the drowned kit nor could she smell it because the river washed the scent away. To her, it looked like Berrypaw was leaned over eating the fish he had caught. "What are you doing? You must fish for the clan, not yourself. You should know this! Especially with your assessment coming up!" Rainsplash scolds the apprentice, who was supposed to be fishing for the clan. She knew that Berrypaw was generally a nervous cat and typically Rainsplash would attempt to console or talk softly to him; however, she knew the apprentice was supposed to be fishing. Then, as she approached the apprentice, the drowned scrap of fur came into view and her response changed. "Oh starclan!" She exclaims, rushing closer to press her nose to the soaked kittens fur. A shiver ran though her, Great Starclan, this kitten is nearly frozen to death! "Bring her over here." Rainsplash meows urgently, ushering the apprentice away from the river and behind a boulder and some bushes; she hopes it will block the wind while they warmed up the kit. In this state, Rainsplash doesn't know if the kit will make the journey back to camp in it's state.

  • Teal's tail twitched slightly, then wrapped itself tightly around her shivering body. She let out a loud, scared cry, then opened her blue eyes. She stared up at the two cats, curling up into a ball. "W-who a-are you?" The kitten mewed, her teeth chattering from the 00BDBD. For a few moments she forgot what had happened to her, and her family. Then the memories all came flooding back, of the giant, stinky hands that took away her mother and siblings. She didn't know that they were actually animal rescuers, and would treat her family very well. To her they were just as dangerous and evil as the loud, barking monsters with snapping teeth and the shrieking sky monsters with huge talons that would swoop down and grab her at any moment.

The skittish tom jumped as Rainsplash had begun to scold him for something he wasn't even doing. Of course he knew better! He would never put the clan at risk - how could she accuse him of--

Oh. Yes. Right. The kit. The bobtail quickly padded over to where the warrior had shown him, gently placing the young kit down and looking to the older molly for ideas. But, miraculously, the soaked kitten began to speak, and Berrypaw seemed thrilled to have found her in time.

"Oh, um. I.. I'm Berrypaw. This is Rainsplash. We're, uh, we're from RiverClan. Can.. can you tell us what happened?"
