It wasn't expected. Probably stupid of her considering the size of her belly and how ready it seemed to pop but... she just never thought it was really going to happen. The reality of what was growing inside her hadn't settled in. Despite the sickness's and the aches and the exhaustion.. she just couldn't comprehend the idea of having kids. Not even the thought of naming them appeared in her head nor did what they'd look like. It was as if she'd repressed the idea of them entirely up until it actually happened. She was training. A couple of daggers were sprawled out in the dirt by her paws. A redwood tree with many holes in its trunk stood tall before her. She picked up a tiny dagger, aimed, then threw. The dagger landed slightly off to the side which made her spit a curse, golden eyes narrowing. If that was an enemy, they'd still be moving straight for me. Littlestar thought grimly, picking up another dagger. She lifted her paw, balancing, and aimed with one eye closed. Then just as she was about to throw it, a wave of pain entered her body. It was like her muscles were seizing up and she closed her eyes, face scrunching up, dagger cluttering to the ground. Littlestar expected the 'cramp' to go away but it came back, again and again. It was growing, she realized, it was getting bigger with every passing moment. "W-woah, hey, not now." The Monarch whispered to the swollen belly as she realized what this was. Fear took over her and Littlestar wheezed, struggling to catch breath. Breathe, calm. You'll be fine. But she didn't feel fine. She felt scared. People were beginning to look. Trying not to cry out loud, the swollen female limped to somewhere secluded in the territory. This particular place was a hollowed out space underneath a bush. Almost like a cave but it was made out of vegetation and the grass was all mossy underneath. She'd been coming here since she was young and she supposed... she supposed she'd be giving birth in it too.
The crampings continued and for a while, she was just lying there, sobbing, feeling so scared and alone. I'm giving birth, she thought inhaling sharply, I'm giving birth right now. She was just a kid.. she felt like she was still a kid. Littlestar wanted to hold someone and have them hug her and tell her it was going to be okay. But she had no one. The tabby cried aloud then, a wave of pain passing through. Blinking hazily, the female rolled onto her side and pushed her muzzle into the ground, face scrunching up. "It's gonna be fine, sweetheart." "Dad?" "Yes, baby girl. I'm here for you. Just hold onto my paw and let me tell you something; you can do this. You're a Grimes. It's in your blood to endure and survive." "Dad." "What is it, sweetheart?" "I'm scared." "All brave girls are scared once in a while. It's what makes you brave. Being scared of something but still doing it." The image of the scarred up, metal legged tiger with the glowing blue eyes vanishes into thin air and Littlestar shakes as pain surpasses her shaken and small body. Her father said she could do it. She had to do it. There was no.. no escaping this. She had to face it head on.
The first kid to arrive on HawkClans soil was a silver male. He was a big little baby and even as she was panting, she watched the first wriggle on the soft mossy grass. Tears welled in her golden eyes. The little boy looked like a kitsune, like Luca. He did appear to have some feline features but he more so resembled his other parent. She could see tiny black claws on each of his paws. Littlestar extended a trembling limb and attempted to pull the baby closer to her. She felt disgusting, gross, exposed. But she looked at her kid and also felt something inexplicable- she made that. That was her kid. The tabby made no more movements to offer the kid love and comfort but she watched him, golden eyes soft despite the tears falling from them. A name popped into mind. The first- "Milestone." She breathed out. That wasn't so hard, was it? Littlestar closed her eyes and just imagined her father, giving her a big hug. I can do this.
The second was small, so small that Littlestar scarcely felt her at first. Even so, when she arrived, the tabby looked at her and felt amazement to see the glowing blue rings. Her base color was once again a grey but it looked very stormy, electric, full of energy. The blue rings around her body only added to that vibe. This kid was small, her little arms and legs thin, but Littlestar had a feeling she was going to be full of energy. The little pawpads of this kid were neon blue, as were various other parts of her. For a while she was just studying her quietly, the only sound being the rain against the little bush cave and the mewlings of the two children. Littlestar figured out a name and gently extended her paw, attempting to pick her up and put her alongside Milestone. "Technokit." Another little feature about this baby which she quickly picked up on was the little freckles she sported across her face. Technokit looked like the perfect mix of kitsune and feline compared to Milestone who looked mostly like a kitsune. She gave them both a quick lick, scared they were getting cold. How many do I have left?
The third was an altogether different coloring, resembling Luca more then a silvery grey storm. He was a chocolate brown, with long fluffy fur that made him look like a little pillow. His tail was also different, for she saw that he only had one compared to the others but it split into a fork at the end as if it were a snakes tongue or something. His fur was so pretty though and it looked as if chocolate was constantly pouring off of him. He looked more feline then kitsune but she recognized the slender limbs and rounded ears to be a kitsunes features. She pondered over a name for the little chocolate baby and although the idea 'Chocolatekit' did appear in her mind, she deemed it too predictable a name. "Liquorwhip." It was an odd name, she knew, but she thought it fitted the little guy perfectly. A sweet little thing tarnished by herself. She was going to try her damndest to raise these kids properly and nicely but she was scared. The tabby attempted to put Liquor besides Techno, giving him a small lick on his cheek.
The fourth kid- fuck, when is this going to end?- was the most painful so far. She gritted her teeth and panted until she succesfully pushed it out, golden eyes squeezed shut. This kid she immediately expected to be huge considering how painful he'd been but when she looked, he was still smaller then the first one. Her golden eyes roamed over his little body which was black as obsidian. All her kids seemed to be very different from one another and this one was no exception. He had pink markings which reminded her of Luca's pink eyes. Littlestar hadn't thought much about it before but she'd basically be seeing Luca every day with her kids. He'd always be present in them and that really sucked. Blinking away more tears, the feline leans over, aiming to pick him up and place him on the other side of Milestone. The more she looked, the more she saw; little details on her little creations. He had a very shaggy neck and back, almost like a mane. Littlestar tentatively poked his mane with the tip of her claw (which was unretractable) and then gave him a lick. She could also notice tiny little fangs poking over his bottom lip. "Nathanael.. that's your name." Littlestar informed the little kitsune-feline hybrid, leaning back into her comfortable position.
The fifth baby was the most interesting to look at. After she endured the painful pushing and muscle crampings, Littlestar blinked and stared at the vibrantly colored hybrid kid. Different colors; pink and grey and all different shades of those two colors splashed the kids body. Her belly was a light pink and she had a cute little black nose. The inside of her ears was very pink and fluffy. Perhaps the most noticable thing about the baby girl was her wings that appeared far too big for her fragile little body. They too were multi colored but less in a patchy way and they were pink too. She was a very lean baby and her muzzle was elongated more so then the others. She had already sorted out a name for the little girl. "Audrey. Perfect for you, I reckon." The Monarch whispered, to both the baby and herself. She reached and attempted pick up Audrey by her scruff and place her besides Nathanael, stub tail twitching. Was it over? She wasn't sure. Littlestar felt her stomach swelling uncomfortably. She realized that something felt really, really off. The tabby panted and her claws tightened into the grass, ignoring the squeals of her newly borns.
Then it happens. The sixth arrives. But it is by no means a real kid, it can't be. No child would look like.. like that. She stares at the disfigured lump that has exited her. It's smoking, she realizes. Smoke is wafting off whatever it is. It's body is burnt so badly she can't make out much but she recognizes two tails and wings. The feline wants to stand up but the birthing has drained her. But she feels like screaming. Littlestar reaches out to the baby- whatever it is- and touches it, finally screaming when she realizes what it is. That's my baby and it's dead. It's burnt. She knows why. It's my fault. The Leader begins to cry for real then and tears her wide golden eyes away from the little carcass. "Help me, please, somebody.. anybody." She killed her kid. She did that. That was on her. What would normally be every mothers best day of their entire life become among one of her worst. She was afraid, she was shaken and she had kids wriggling at her belly. Little kids. How did they survive? She was glad and it was weird because she never wanted these babies but now she had them and she didn't want them dead. Littlestar lowered her scarred muzzle into the pile of her children and whispered to them, voice soft but shaky. "I don't want you guys dead. I don't... I will pro- protect you all no matter what. That's a promise." No longer did her eyes glow a burning golden and no smoke rolled off of her form. It seemed the constant rage wasn't alive as much as it had been before this.
