-History; Lin was born around the same time his mother died. While he didn't miss her-- he'd never met her, he didn't have any siblings who knew her-- he felt her loss in the way his father reacted to it. He coped with alcohol, and although he never put a finger on Lin, and was very kind, Lin had to cook himself dinner, get himself to and from school, and when he was sad, he dealt with it himself. He was pushed around during school for being kind of nerdy, but he had friends to hang out with. Mid-life, he attempted to do pre-med, but upon failing the tests (due to what he later realized was depression), he decided to major in biology. Then, he got a PhD in that and worked in a lab. He had one particularly significant relationship, with a woman named Miriam when he was 30, that left him bruised and insecure (both literally and figuratively). He got better, though. In the past, he has had issues with alcohol, but thankfully never got into other drugs-- much.

Personality; Lin is quick to talk to people and eases into conversations. He's quite the extrovert, unable to spend too much time alone, or else he feels sad. He seems quite confident on the outside, in the way he holds himself, and the sideways smile that often appears on his face. However, he occasionally makes quite self-deprecating jokes, and looks a little upset when someone comments on something he's insecure about. He is quick to make friends, and quick to start caring about them, which gets overwhelming to him at times-- since he cares about really everyone he meets, he tends to have a lot of people to care about at once, often taking on their stress. Sometimes, this sends him into a spiral. He works very hard, and is very passionate about a lot of things, but once in a while he stresses himself out too much and basically burns out. When this happens, he acts much more tired, has more difficulty getting out of bed. He still goes out of his way to be nice to people, even at his own expense.

Appearance; Lin's the kind of person who's rather nice to look at. He has a sharp, square jawline, and clearly defined cheekbones, giving him the look of someone like kinda hot, I don't know, I don't feel like describing him as a Greek god or something. Maybe a demi-god, at most. Besides, the lucky bone structure balances out a tired look about his face. He has eye bags, and he looks a little bit gaunt, a little unshaven. He wears square glasses, which make his generally sharp face look even sharper. His eyebrows are low over his dark brown eyes, and cast shadows. His hair is black, and shorter on the sides than on the top. He has a strong-looking body, muscular (he works out), but at the same time he's got a bit of chub since he stress-eats a little. He looks rather serious when you first see him, but he usually has a friendly smile on. His clothes tend to be simple-- just jeans and a t-shirt, or in the winter a flannel shirt, unless he has to dress formally.

-History; She was born in Britain, to her mother Tessa Woods and her father Brian Woods. They raised her, but realized when she was about 3 that they really weren't right for each other. So, they split, but without significant drama. They managed to be peaceful about the whole affair, so it wasn't too traumatizing for young Orchid, and by the time she was old enough to totally understand, she was used to the whole thing. She had a rather normal childhood, except for the fact that she was vegetarian when she was with her mom and her wife, Sarah, and that didn't very much matter. She went to college at age 18, deciding to double major, in botany and environmental science. She really loves plants.

Personality; Orchid has always been encouraged to challenge and disagree with people that she thinks are wrong. She is headstrong, stubborn, and willing to disagree with people, including her close friends. She's quite blunt with people, and will tell someone, without dancing around the subject, when she doesn't like what they're doing. However, she is quite compassionate when you get through the exterior. When she gets close to people, she cares for them deeply, and makes sure they are okay whenever she can. She's a bit flirty, but only on a superficial level, and actually can get rather flustered when someone is legitimately, seriously flirting with her. She uses a lot of slang and often swears, but is still clearly a smart person.

Appearance; Orchid has a lovely mahogany skin tone, which tends to be rather even-- but appears moreso because of some mild makeup. She's kind of the opposite of Lin, since Lin is very pointy in many parts of his face, but Orchid has rounded edges and soft curves. Her face is oval-like, and her nose is equally round. She has thick lips, often commented on due to their fullness. Her eyes are very dark in color, and often, just by how her face looks, she seems a bit annoyed, but she sometimes isn't. Her hair is in very thick braids, and is often held up in a messy bun, just to make it easier on her. She wears lots of green, leafy print, or floral, combined with black. She is rather fashionable, but at the same time goes her own way with things.
