  • ★ ★ ★ Zephyr had been listening to stories of his clanmates childhoods, all the fun they'd had and all the stuff that they'd done, when he started thinking about his own childhood. He knew that he had not had a normal childhood, cooped up in the medical den from the ages of one month to seven months, but until now he'd never realised how boring his life had been. He had seriously never even been swimming, he had played with another kitten maybe once or twice, he had never climbed a tree and he had never had a fight with anybody. Thinking of this all made him rather depressed and he had now spent two hours in his nest, simply thinking of what he had missed out on.

There was so much he'd never done and there was no way he could do it all, especially with the bandages and injuries that covered the majority of his body. He had then decided to talk a walk and look at everything he could possibly do, although he couldn't do more then half of it. As a kitten, he'd hoped and dreamed that he would either be a medical cat or the leader of Sunclan but now here he was, pathetic, weak and not having done anything worth anything with his life. He was not worthy of being a medical cat or a leader of any kind.

After thoroughly depressing himself, Zephyr would slowly get up from his nest and start down the path he would take to do his normal daily solo patrol and daily routine. It was a few minutes after walking that he would notice a small tree with rather low and thick branches, perfect for climbing. The injured catsune would head towards it and stare for a few minutes as he tried figuring out how tree climbing actually worked. He would slowly sink his claws into the soft bark of the yew tree and begin to climb.

He would scrabble to get grip onto the first branch and feel something in his shoulder pop, a painful wince coming onto his face as he pulled himself up onto the branch. This would continue and he would climb higher and higher, the evening sun shining on his face as he came closer to the top. This would all stop when the branch would give a quiet groaning and break, sending Zephyr tumbling towards the ground, slamming into branches until he landed with a thud. His whole body radiated pain, he could barely move.. oh god, he was so stupid for doing this.

  • Though Eden had never personally climbed a tree, for she didn't trust her own balance, and had not yet at that point learned to fly (though she now could), she also never saw the appeal of the rough, scratchy bark at her paws, or why one would want to put themselves in needless danger. She much preferred to have her paws on the ground, or in control of her movements with her own wings, and not trust the weight of a tree branch. OF course, that was her opinion, and the girl was often found wandering the Gardens of Eden, anyway; it was clear what her favorite pass-time activity was. She got enough of her energy out, as it was, chasing after Levi and her parents to last her a life time.

But even she wasn't blind to the groaning of the tree, as she walked through the territory that day, a happy hum sounding as she skipped along, one paw after the other as her wings fluttered with her, letting them catch on the wind as she bounced, much like a duck for which she had earned the nickname of. She didn't think much of the groaning at first, until all at once, the tree began to rustle, the sharp, cracking sounds sounding from the tree as the branches began to snap under the weight of Zephyr. For a moment, she frowned her brows gently furrowing down as her face became one of confusion. What was that? It wasn't anything she had heard before- she was hesitant about approaching the scene, to scout it out for herself, at least until she heard a heavy thud, but no rustle- that wasn't no tree branch that had fallen.

Suddenly, her heart racing, she began to pick her way forward towards the sounds; what if someone was hurt? What if it was Levi? Though the thought of her grumpy, stern brother climbing a tree was laughable, an amusing thought, it still had crossed her mind in her brief moments of panic. What if it was Irene? Swallowing, she picked up her pace, her wings now quivering with nervousness until she stopped when she found him. Zephyr. On the ground, scattered, torn leaves surrounding him in a small circle to dictate the path that he had taken. Some of the smaller branches now hung by barky threads to the original tree; they had done nothing to stop his fall. "Zephyr!" she would cry, bounding forward to the boy's aid. Maybe she could do something? Was he bleeding? Was he breathing? "Zephy, can you hear me? Can you breathe?" Maybe he just got the wind knocked out of him? But she winced herself as her ears flattened back, even she knew he had fallen hard. "Help! Someone help!"

  • The eerie sound of snapping branches was what intrigued Sylvina to happen upon the scene in the first place. Afterall, nothing good seemed to tie with that all too familiar sound.. When she was a mere three months old her fiesty mindset led the hellpup to attempting her very first climb of a pine tree — It hadn’t ended so well. And in this instance it didn’t seem to have any more of a positive outcome. She stepped out of the foliage just in time to watch the catsune tumble from the yew tree and land quite forcefully upon the ground.

The young canine would hurry forward to kneel besides Zephyr’s body, her crimson optics scanning him for any immediate indicators of where the source of his pain could be originating from. “Holy shit, you okay?” Sylvina would inquire as she attempted to lightly brush debris from the catsune’s pelt.

servals had rather long, slender and lanky torsos. this definitely gave them an advantage when it came to participating in physical activity such as climbing trees, or at least young micaiah would see it that way. the femme considered herself immensely lucky to have been born in good health and be able to run, jump and climb rather exceptionally compared to some others. there were many other kittens or children in the clan who were sick or had some sort of disability or injury and seeing that definitely made her humble herself down, that was for certain. it could have been anyone, right? she'd use her strength to help those who could not use it, she supposed.

that's when she heard the snap of branches and turned her head just in time to see it. a flash of a familiar pelt and then the smack on the ground, followed by the calling of another clan mate for help. "what the fuck..?" she huffed in confusion and ran over to where the scene was unfolding to see a little zephyr on the floor, right underneath the tree. her maw almost dropped and her chest thumped as she swung her head towards eden and then sylvina. she wasn't sure how to handle the situation or what to do. she padded up to the other child and crouched down next to him, putting her head right next to his muzzle, listening carefully. she could hear breath. "he's breathing - tough kid. we definitely need help over here!" her voice got louder as she neared the end of her sentence.

Gareth's ears perked when he heard yelling, for a moment he leaned toward dismissing it, but quickly got to his paws. As soon as Zephyr's scent presented itself Gareth had his fur on end, running as fast as he could. "Where is he?" The catsune shouted, looking absolutely terrifying, as of he was about to murder everyone on the scene. However his fur smoothed and the look of complete fear and rage washed away. Replaced with panic. "Zephyr! Is he okay!?" His heart pounded against his chest. Zephyr was the most important person in his life, Zephyr was his brother and his friend and the only family he truly trusted.

The metallic scent of blood hit him suddenly when he finally saw his brother's unmoving body. His pupils dilated, ears pressed against his head, breathing slow. The pressure of pushing against an animal's chest was all too real against his paw. A flashback of when he had killed that loner who attacked his brother overwhelmed him suddenly, and was gone as quick as it came. Gareth backed up, looking down at his paw expecting to see blood, though there was none.

After a moment he returned to his panicked state, confused. What had he just seen? God, that didn't matter, he needed to know if his brother was going to be okay. "Zeph?" His voice was distant, as if his kind wasn't all there. He then visibly snapped out of the, well, whatever had happened "ZEPHYR!" He practically screamed.

It didn't take much to send Hexane running to a call, especially if it was his younger siblings calling for help. Eden's first cry sent him barreling through the territory towards the sound blood pounding in his ears- no, he wouldn't let the shadows creep any further up his spine. But he would push himself to run even faster. Maybe if he helped quickly enough his curse wouldn't have time to react.

It was difficult at first to grasp exactly who the patient was when he arrived on the scene; everyone gathered looked sufficiently horrified either way. But finally Hex laid his eyes upon the crumpled form of Zephyr, his sickly little brother who looked like he'd just had a battle with an army of branches. "God dammit, what happened?" He padded to child and knelt beside him, giving a visual examination before placing a paw to his chest to feel for his breathing. "Can you hear me kid? You conscious?"

  • ★ ★ ★ Nothing made sense in this land, people were blurs and trees were blurs and the sky was a blur. It was like it was blurland and not sunclan!

Zephyr would lose his train of thought as his body gave a sudden throb of pain and he was brought to reality, concussed and confused. He'd let out a loud whimper at the pain spreading rapidly through his body and found it difficult to breath, almost as if something was poking his lung. He would attempt to suddenly get up only to find that he could not move."C-Can't..move." He would rasp in a strangled voice as he opened his eyes, displaying pupils that were two two completely different sizes.

Zephyr's bandages had broken and slipped off, revealing two near featherless and very scarred wings that seemed incapable of flight. Zephyr would normally never show his wings as they'd been very damaged during the liner attack but he couldn't exactly control it right now.

"G-Gareth" he'd whimper quietly before starting to choke slightly, having to take a moment till he could breathe. "G-GARETH! Zephyr couldn't see or smell his brother, although he couldn't really see anything right now.

"Help him, help him!" Gareth began panicking more than he had thought possible. His voice was shrill, eyes wide. Why was Zephyr yelling, why was he screaming? Oh God, was he in pain, was he dying? WAS HE DYING? Gareth began crying, shaking. Zephyr's wings, his eyes, it was too much for him to handle. The fragile boy began hyperventilating. It felt like everything was going too fast. "Why is he-" he hiccuped, his head bobbing forward. It seemed as if he was having a panic attack.

  • 「 he's the safest memory — but he's in my saddest dreams 」

it seemed like suddenly zephyr was jolted back to consciousness and began trying to reach gareth. and on top of that, gareth himself almost looked at roughed up as zephyr did. "woah woah woah, calm down," micaiah's large ears found themselves pinned to the back of her head as she desperately scrambled for some sort of sense to make of the situation. she honestly had no clue what to do, but if everyone stayed calm then it might be easier on the group as a whole. "we're not going to get anywhere by howling, just breathe, there's gotta be someone who knows something about medicine somewhere around here. if we can carry him without him being in more pain, then we'll do that?" she blinked her large green eyes as they darted from face to face, waiting for someone older to take control of the situation.

Zephyr did not look good. As far as Hex could tell there was some kind of concussion involved here and who knows what other injuries the kid may have garnered up in a damn tree. He dragged his paw lightly along his brother's side, trying to feel for any further harm that may have come to him. The spine was what he had to worry about the most.

He gave a click of his tongue and turned his head harshly to Gareth. "Get over here and keep him calm." There wasn't any obvious tilt or bump to the spine itself, so Hex could hope that no permanent paralysis would result. "Stay still Zeph, stay with me. Just breath and tell me if you can feel my paw on your side or back." HE turned to Micaiah for a moment, offering a mere glance with his words. "As long as he has no spinal injury we can move him, but otherwise we're stuck."

  • ★ ★ ★ Zephyr would immediately quiet when he heard Gareths voice and would let out a soft whimper once more, hoping that his Gareth knew that he wouldn't die. Zephyr would groan softly as his upper back was prodded but he would grow quieter as Hexane got lower.

"Can't..feel lower." Zephyr would rasp, terrified of what might have happened. Was he paralyzed or was it something else?

Gareth wiped at his face, trying to take in what people were saying, but failing. All he heard was "calm him", and god damnit he was gonna do that. Sniffling like a baby Gareth went toward his brothers side, attempting to calm himself down. "It's-It's okay," he said between muffled sobs. Still shaking he pressed his forehead onto Zephyr's in some attempt at calming both of them. "It's gonna be okay," the end of 'okay' was extended in a sort of whine. It'd be funny, how dramatic he was being that was, if not for the fact that his heart was breaking and weeping so hard his body shook. No matter how hard he tried to be quiet, and he was actually trying, the crying wouldn't stop.

"What does that mean?" He said to Hex in reference to Zeph saying he couldn't feel his lower, voice wobbling. "Zeph what do you mean?"
