    The soldiers eyes narrowed slightly. He didnt like that question and she wouldnt like the answer. However, he understood her concern. At first, he let out a short sigh.


    "Well, you wouldnt want to kill someone that is well known or anything. I tend to take people who are alone.. or are going through something that wouldnt make their death or disappearance very worrying. The woman today had been widowed recently and the neighbors saw that she was contemplating it." Kano trailed off, not sure what else she wanted to hear.

    She hummed. That's all Juliette did when she replied. What more could Juliette add to the honest answer? She understood why he did it, and as bad as it may sound, it's good that it wasn't someone who was dearly loved or known. From what the demon had explained to her once, he was made to do these sort of things. He was made to serve. But that didn't lesson the guilt that she felt for tearing into the old lady's body. Even if it wasn't her who did the killing, she was still responsible for her death. "Are there others that are like you?" She asked changing the subject and moved on to another question that would fly around her mind.

    "I do believe so. Of course, there are other servants for the higher level demons. However, it is uncommon to have a servant for lower level demons. They do not really require them since the host is usually in control most of the time." Kano answered, falling behind as the path began to get a little more rough and narrow.

    Juliette thought about what he had just told her. This means that there were more demons, and she was expected to rule over them. 'Just great.' Who wouldn't want to command an army of demons? "How was the demon inside of me as a ruler?" Juliette asked him as the demon materialized before her.


    You could of just asked me that. I would be happy to tell in detail. He replied with his signature sinister smile. "You wouldn't give me a straight answer." It looked like she wasn't talking to anyone, but the demon for some reason could show himself to her.

    That was another good question. One he didnt really know the answer to. Kano opened his mouth, but snapped it shut quickly when he heard someone walking toward them. He stepped in front of the new ruler, his eyes turning red. There felt as if there a slight tug on them, as if you were underwater and the current was pulling at you. However, Kano made no note of it. His now red eyes scanned the area carefully. There were still footsteps, but no one was seen.

    You don't ask the right question. It all depends in what exactly it is that you want to know and if you truly want to know the answer. He taps on his head and also says I know what you are thinking and feeling. I'm inside of you. There isn't anything you could hide from me that I can't find. The demon walks beside her. Juliette would of replied back, but Kano had shifted in front of her. "What's going on?" She asks feeling tense as she looked a head at where he was looking at. Someone is coming. Let's see how you handle things Julie. The demon leaves, but Juliette growls in annoyance, "Don't call me Julie." It was a pet name her parents gave her, but she felt unworthy of the name and it was sacred only to her parents.

    He raised an eyebrow in question. He hadnt called her that at all. Perhaps she was talking to the demon. That would make a lot mroer sense. Instead of answering directly, he began walking forward like normal but motioned for her to follow. The male went ahead by a couple feet before turning around to tell her something.


    "Something is coming. I dont know what it is or why they are so close. Stay close. They cant see us right now. Nor can they hear us." Kano figured that because he was turned toward her, she could see the red eyes instead if gold. Did she know that he had powers yet? He could only hope. Without waiting for an answer he turned back to walk again.

    When he had turned around, she couldn't help but keep on staring into his eyes. She had gotten used to seeing his eyes be a gold hue, but now that he was on alert his eyes had changed into a red color. 'That's new' She thinks to herself as he kept on walking. Taking a look around the area once more, she hesitates for a moment, but continues on walking down the path that would take them to the town. His eyes had brought new question into her mind, but figured that it could wait for later.

    Juliette didnt seem to question anything. He kept moving forward, still scanning. Nothing. The footsteps suddenly stopped. Kano focused on hiding them from view, making the tug harder. He couldnt help but wonder for a split second if she was feeling it to. Slightly picking up the pace, the forest seemed to have died all at once. There was no noise aside from Juliettes footsteps along with his own. They had to get out of there and going back to the house didnt seem to be an option now.


    "Tell me if you see anything." Kano instructed.

    The eerie quietness of the forest wasn't sitting well with her. Subconsciously she moved closer to Kano and kept on alert. She nods her head at his command and scans the forest. "What are you sensing?" Juliette asked as her insides tightened making her have a bad feeling. She wasn't in tune with her new found powers, and Juliette was obviously rejecting the demons help, so the teen wasn't able to tell anything. It would be wise if you used the powers I gave you. The demon suggested in her mind to which Juliette immediate declines. "No. I won't"

    "Im not sure." Kano murmured, mostly under his breath. After a couple feet, life began returning to the forest. The birds began singing and the faint sounds of the town were in the air. It was almost as if they had been in a soundproof bubble that just popped. Kanos face was drawn into a frown. However, he kept quiet about it.


    "Anymore questions?"

    "None here." She responds when she hears the town. Just hearing the town already made her stomach clench and cause her to panic. 'Normal. Be normal. Don't draw any sort of attention to yourself. Just keep your head down.' These were the words that chanted in her mind. Her legs propelled her forward not allowing her to back out. Besides, she'd rather be out there than the smelly house. "Actually um... I have one. Where are we going first?" She asked softly wanting to prepare herself for any heavily populated stores or spots.

    Kano glanced at her. Where were they going first? Well, Kano certainly didnt know that. He knew that he ordered her a lot, most likely due to the old rulers clumsy and careless attitude, but she was still the boss. She was supposed to decide where to go and when, not the other way around unless she was in danger. Here, he hardly thought that he had to worry. Still, he would never say that to her. Telling her how to rule was crossing the line there.


    "It is up to you. We can go where ever you would like." Kano replied in his normal, formal tone.

    The closer they got, Juliette was able to finally catch sight of the town. It hadn't been that long since they've moved, but it gave her anxiety to be amongst people again. Taking in deep breaths she relaxed her face to not give anything away,'Keep your head down. Just get what you came for and leave. Don't stall. Be normal.' "I don't know this town yet. Let's look around and if we come up to a store that has what we need we'll go from there. Or we could look for a drugstore, which ever comes first." Juliette didn't turn around and kept on walking.


    You're almost getting there. A true queen you'll one day become. The demon appeared taunting her, hoping to see her crumble. However he wanted to see what it will take to break her even more in order to change her into a true ruler of hell. You've already getting used to commanding. You have a puppet, use him however you want. He'll be doing your bidding. Juliete just hears him and tries to not let his words get to her. "Kano I want you to be keeping a look out. We don't know what happened back there, but I don't want to take any risks of getting discovered. I'm not in the mood to be moving again."

    Kano gave her a single nod. That was understandable. As they grew closer to the town, he was forced to stop using his powers. The tug went away and Kano once again had to wonder if Juliette was able to feel it. Although he had used his powers on many other people, he never asked them if they could feel the tug. It was strange and rather unnecassary. 'Perhaps shell ask about it later. Its not very often she gets out. Probably nervous.' A small smirk of a smile made its way onto Kanos face, although it vanished in a second as they stepped onto the grounds of the town. There was around a dozen people walking on the sidewalks and moving in and out of different stores. The golden eyed boy made sure that no one was seemingly out of place or might be a problem for them. After a couple steps, he was tempted to pull up his hood. He was never a fan of talking to people. However, that might cause some worry if they go into a store. They didnt need that sort of attention. A certain s sign, a rather old one, caught his attention. It had big fancy lettering on it with a simple "DRUG STORE- MEDICINE CANDY AND ALL YOU NEED" on it. Right before he could point it out, a woman approached them. At first, Kano tried to go around them, sticking close to Juliette. The bright red haired woman seemed determined to talk to them though. She donned a pack that was full of a bunch of random pictures from buildings to animals to people.


    "Hello! You guys were just looking really, really cute and I was wondering if I could take a picture?" Her tone was way too enthusiastic and internally Kano was cringing. The male forced a happy smile before answering.


    "Well, we are trying to hurry to get a present for somebody. Rather in a-"


    "Oh cmon! Itll be real quick!" The curly haired woman seemed like she wasnt going to leave them lone until she got something from them. Kano looked toward Juliette, to see if she was okay with it.

    'This wasn't part of the plan!' She shouted in her mind to which the demon snickered next to her. It irked her and having the persistent lady bugging them didn't help her mood. She stopped walking and looked at the ladies attire before looking back at her. Keeping her face neutral she shakes her head," No thanks. We have some errands to run, and also get a present for someone. So if you'll excuse us." She kept up with his lie to not cause any suspicions. Juliette really hoped her voice was kept firm since she didn't want to give in. Too much attention. And if someone were to see a picture of her, who knows if it'll each her family, but she'd rather not risk it. No pictures.


    A picture won't hurt you know. She even said you looked cute. The demon replied standing beside the overly excited photographer. This causes the short haired teen to narrow her eyes at him. "Kano, let's get going."

    Kano gave an apologetic nod to the woman as he weaved around the woman to cath up to his boss. He began to point out the store some more when the sound of heavy boots came up behind them. Kano was the first to react, immediately putting himself in between the person quickly approaching them and the Queen. There was a small scowl on his face tha quickly dropped when he saw the woman.


    "Ill just take one picture! I swear! Ive never seen a cuter couple! Look, even when you thought she was in danger, you put her first and stood to face the danger. Although I couldnt hurt a fly!" The woman let out a hearty laugh. Kano could feel his face heat up a little. A picture might not really hurt here, but if it got to the other realm it might. The woman looked expectantly at Kano, as if she was expecting him to say yes. After a moment she continued. "I dont do anything with these if thats what youre worried about. Yasee I love drawing and you two seem like the perfect models. Especially youre lady over there. Couldnt really see her, but what I did, she was pretty!" Kano stifled a little laugh but refused once more. The red haired woman seemed a little disappointed, but she eventually backed off. She crossed the street and began to ask some other people about whatever. With a sigh, Kano turned back to the sign.


    "How about there?"

    Juliette just scowled at the woman that kept bugging them. 'Just leave already.' She didn't want to say anything, but if she didn't back off, Juliette would. She sighed in relief when she finally left and looked at where Kano was pointing. She stared at the sign for a few seconds before walking in. The store had several people inside already, but Juliette was able to hold back her fear and just keep moving forward. Her hands clenched in her pockets, but didn't give anything away.


    Hungry. Hungry. Hungry. The mouths chanted, but they were quiet this time and more distanced. The amount of people must of awoken them and made them want to feast. "Go and get the stuff that we need. While you do that I'll be looking around for any extras. Hopefully the store has everything we need." She didn't wait for him and already headed towards a less crowded aisle. 'Don't lose control. Just take in deep breaths and you'll be fine.'

    //Its so nice out today!! We rarely get any cold weather here so it being in the 50s is a dream come true for me. lol



    Kano opened his mouth to suggest that they stay together in case of anybody, but quickly closed it. He was given an order. He must do what she says. After a moment of reading off where things were, he went to get some more of whatever they needed. Kano figured that they could just get a little extra of everything, just to be safe. The blonde walked down the aisle, grabbed the stuff, and then went to go find Juliette. A customeer left and a small breeze blew in. It smelled of coffee, something that Kano adored. Why hadnt he realized it before? Maybe they could actually go get some. Let Juliette relax too.
