    25

    Signer and Composer

    History of Work;;

Malakai wrote music for a number of small musicals that never got out of local theater. He soon got tired of writing only music for others he got to work on his own album 'Sailor' , once he released his album it began to pick up a following and he moved to LA to get more work, despite preferring New York. Malakai is currently working on a musical of his own writing.

  • Ok lol sounds good to me! I'll start then!

Winter Willow nodded to a few people in passing as she made her way to her manager's office. He had called and wanted her to see him as soon as she was done recording just a floor below his office. And she had done just that.

Knocking on the door first, she waited for his call before entering the room.

  • ((I'm just gonna say Malakai is already there and her manager will tell them the plan at the same time if that's cool with you.))

Malakai sat alone in a room, he had been brought here by his manager, saying there was some 'opportunity for him, but he had to wait a bit. Malakai made himself comfortable in a chair, he reached into his messenger bag and pulled out his notebook and a pen, he flipped it open to the song he was working on.

  • ((Totally works for me!))

Upon entering the room, Willow noticed two unfamiliar figures and her manager in the office. She slowed her steps as she glanced at the two strangers but shook herself and continued her confident stride, "James," she addressed her manager, "I have another session in half an hour, what was it you wanted to speak to me about?"

James, an ordinary built man, standing at about 5'6'' with peppered black hair and greyish-blue eyes, smiled upon seeing his client, "Ah! Winter Willow, yes yes, we'll make this quick I know how busy you are. Ehm. Sawyer Yorke, meet Winter Willow. Winter Willow, Sawyer Yorke."

Raising an eyebrow at her manager as he introduced her by her stage name, she nodded at the man, "Pleasure."

  • Malakai looked up from his notebook as he scribbled down a lyric. He shoved his notebook back into his back "Sorry." he muttered looking up "Nice to meet you." he said shifting in his seat. He noticed how tense Willow seemed. He couldn't really blame her, Malakai felt a bit tense as well, he still didn't know why he was here and why he was meeting this 'Winter Willow' girl.

  • Clapping his hands together, James smiled at the two, "So, to get to the point of this little meeting, Sawyer's manager and I have come to an agreement that it would be in the interest of the both of you, if you were to enter into an agreed relationship."

Willow's eyebrows shot up in surprise, obviously not expecting or believing what her manager was saying, "Excuse me?"

James chuckled, "You heard me right. Sawyer is an upcoming artist, but he isn't quite there yet. Willow, you're already well known for your work and famous, but you've hit a bit of a boring streak my dear. You're working on a new album, I get it, but you need to get out in the public eye more, take some photos, go to interviews and talk shows. Sawyer can help you get back into the center of attention again!"

  • Malakai raised an eyebrow "So you want us to just, date?" he asked glancing at Willow to see if she thought this was as crazy as he did. It looked like she did which Malakai enjoyed knowing that he wasn't crazy, this plan was crazy, he'd never met Willow, he'd heard of her a few times, he kind of enjoyed her music actually, but he barely knew anything about her. How were they supposed to date?

  • "Ok James, I think I'm done listening to this nonsense." Willow said, turning around to go to the door.

James sighed, "Willow, stop. It's not uncommon for celebrities to date for the sole purpose of publicity. It's what skyrockets your career, afterall. More publicity, the more people see of you, the more they want to see what you've got. AKA, they listen to your music and watch your movies. I guarantee that if the both of you so this, the public will be buzzing. Sawyer will get the head start he needs with his music and you'll get more attention for your upcoming album and movie."

Crossing her arms as she turned back around to listen, she bit the inside of her cheek as she thought before turning to Sawyer, "How bad do you need the publicity to get you famous?"

  • "Well right now my only track record is music for weird experimental musicals, and my album, obviously." Malakai said "But don't look at me, I didn't think of this idea, it's just as much a surprise for me as it is for you." he said looking at Willow. He look over to her manager briefly and then back to her.

  • "Willow, like I said, his manager and I both collaborated on this." James explained, "We both think it would be in the best interest of your careers. Have I ever led you wrong in this aspect?"

Willow hesitated, still unsure, glancing between Sawyer and James, she let out a sigh, "No, you haven't. Yet. If this goes horribly wrong then you'll have to pick up the pieces." She warned.

"But if Sawyer agrees to it, then I guess I will as well."

  • Malakai shrugged "I guess I'll agree to it then." he said. He looked over to Willow "I don't really see how this could have any major lasting effects so, I don't see why it wouldn't be worth a shot." he said, Malakai wasn't too sure if this would even work but he didn't really see how it could have any negative effects, any publicity is good publicity right?

  • James clapped his hands together in joy, "Excellent! Now, we won't make any kind of announcement, we'll simply let the press see the two of you together. Take it easy at first, walking around together, having fun, another day maybe you guys are holding hands until you see others around, acting all shy-"

"Ok, ok, James. I think we got the idea." Willow said, cutting her manager off, "I need to get back to the recording room, Sawyer, you wanna uh walk with me and we can plan out our first public appearance?"

  • Malakai nodded standing up "Sure." he said looking at the door "I can't stay too long though, I don't have somewhere to be or anything I just have to write before I lose motivation, strike while the iron is hot I guess, sorry, I'm rambling." he said looking back to Willow

  • She gave a small smile before nodding towards the door. Leading the way out of the office, she let out a sigh once the door was closed behind them, "I wonder what suddenly got into them to make them come up with this all of a sudden."

She began the walk down the hallway, knowing very well how to get to the studio from here. "So, what kind of music do you write?"

  • Malakai followed behind Willow "Yeah, it's kind of sudden I wonder that too." he said nodding "I've composed a lot of musical theatre, which is fun, the music on my album is kinda indie pop I guess. I'm not really sure I just write what I feel. I'm working on a musical of my own writing actually." he said

  • "Musicals?" Willow repeated in surprised, "That's... Interesting. Honestly wouldn't have pegged you for the type. No offense intended, of course." Stepping into the elevator at the end of the hall, she hit the button for the floor below, "So, when is your album supposed to be released? Will it be your first?"

  • "None taken, a lot people say that. I started out composing for them just to make some money but I ended up really enjoying writing for them." Malakai said stepping into the elevator after her "Yeah, but I've released some of the songs as singles already but most of them are new, and it's my first yeah." he said
