Dya gave him a small smile. "Don't worry about me. I'm just a servant, nobody pays me any mind." She assured him softly before turning to leave quickly.
-
bump!
-
Taern rested in the bed and painstakingly waited for her return
-
Dya went to find the man quickly, hoping she could get there before the king did without being seen.
-
The man was in his quaters and Dya would arrive five minutes before the guards would
-
"Excuse me, sir?" Dya asked as she approached him.
-
The man looked up, a questioning look on his face, “Miss?” He asked
-
"I need you tickle with me quickly. And quietly." Dya told him, glancing over her shoulder. "The king believes you are his nephew, I needed get you out of here before he arrives."
-
The man raised his eyebrows but then nodded, getting up and waiting for her to leave
-
Dya quickly led him out trying to stay out of sight.
-
They waited in shadows and avoided guards even while there was commotion among the guards that the person they were looking for was gone now
-
Dya reached back to grab his hand to make sure they stayed together as she led him out.
-
He didn’t object, he knew his life was on the line and he couldn’t afford to lose it- but...would he be the reason his family would befall harm?
-
As soon as they were away from guards and out towards the road she stopped. "You need to go and move your family. At least until they give up looking for you. You need to stay safe." Dya told him. "The King would only think I was protecting the prince if I said you weren't him."
-
The man nodded to Dya, “Thank you for telling me, and please. If the real prince is within those walls,” he points to the castle, “Please keep him safe. He’s the only chance we have,” he speaks before he tells Dya goodbye and turned to leave
-
"Don't worry, I will." Dya assured him softly. "And stay safe." With that, she hurried back to Taern, praying desperately nothing had happened to him while she was gone.
-
When she would come back, she would find him asleep in his bed, seemingly knocked out by the medications administered to him
-
Relieved to see him still safe there, Dya took a seat at his side, gently taking his hand. She knew she had to stay awake in case anyone came by, she could have no connection to Taern, but she took comfort in holding his hand.
-
Taern responded slightly with her hand on his, but otherwise he remained asleep. He rarely got any due to his vigorous training
