  • 「 Drinking on a Monday — Sleeping just to numb the pain 」

(OOC: Sir Aldys Here you go! Hopefully this is a decent starting thread~)

The light of the moon shining down upon the elegant looking kitsune was the only thing that made her pale icy blue fur visbile in the shade of the trees she sat under. The nine-tailed had just woken up after a long day and part of a night of drinking, and god did she feel absolutely terrible. Her azure gaze shifted to look at the few empty bottles that she had brought with her when she left only to be disappointed when she saw that they didn't have any liquid in them left. Next her lightning colored eyes moved to look at her bandaged paw. It hurt so much worse than it had when she originally hurt and if not for the alcohol that was slowly exiting her bloodstream she doubted that she'd even want to move. The doctor assured her that despite things going wrong she'd be fine now that the initial problem had been fixed, but that didn't mean the pain was any less excruciating.

And the headache. The headache from her hangover was quite possibly the worst part of it all. It made it so hard to think and figure out what she wanted to do. If the sun had been out she doubted she'd have done anything more than curl up under the tree and shut her eyes away from the world. Even the dimly lit glow of the moon was still a little annoying to her sensitive post alcohol consumption eyes. She needed to get a move on though so moving at night where she could actually stand existing, not to mention the relative lack of predators in comparison to the day, was probably the best. Even worse than when she had first injured her paw she was defenseless. Now she needed to protect her slowly healing ankle all the while avoiding anyone who wanted to start something with her. And someone always wanted to start something with her. When you saw a pretty kitsune that was defenseless how could you not mess with her in some way? At least that's what it had seemed like over the last few days and she doubted it would change.

That's why it was of no surprise when she spotted the form of a canine heading her direction under the lunar light granted by the large celestial object in the sky. At first she wasn't sure the wolf had seen her, but when his path didn't divert at all she let out a small whimper of fear. The nine-tailed fox wrapped her tails around herself and pressed up against the tree she had been using for shade, trying to squeeze every last ounce of comfort the strong timber would provide the female. There wasn't much she could do to such an imposing figure other than try to reason with the person in whatever way possible. She'd do anything she had to, she just didn't want to die. Another small whimper of fear escaped the lithe fox.

Aranea's vulpine visage twisted into a defenseless beg of mercy as she pressed herself to the ground in submission so the canine would understand before it got close. "P-Please don't hurt me! I-I'll do anything! I'm injured, but I'm sure I can still be useful for something!" the kitsune whimpered as her azure gaze rested on the intimidating canine who was approaching her. She couldn't make out any features on the wolf other than that he looked far physically superior to herself, and that was plenty to make her back down. She didn't like having to beg, but she knew her place when it came to conflicts such as this one. Often times with the despicable animals of the world it was either submit or die. Aranea knew which choice she'd make every single time. Pride wasn't worth death in any capacity as long as she could still create the things she loved so dearly.

Further is forever — Restless 'till the day we die

  • It was a fairly normal night. Aldys had been on his way from one clan to the next, as he had done many times before, to give his protection to those who could not protect themselves. His dark steel armor and chain glittered faintly in the moonlight as the timber wolf walked along, posture relaxed. The repeated movement caused the large claymore of black steel strapped across his back to clank faintly against his armor. The blade itself was heavily engraved with golden symbols all the way to the tip, glittering in the same way as the armor beneath it. Hanging from the males side was a more reasonably sized straight sword in it's scabbard; an arming sword perhaps.

The knight was thinking about where his next destination would be at the time when he spotted a figure through the trees, seeming to glow somewhat due to it's white pelt. Aldys would change his course to head towards the creature, before shortly after hearing it cry out in submission. Well, not it. Her. Halting his approach as it was clearly causing this female a great deal of terror, he called out in a piercingly clear, faintly gruff voice "I do not wish you harm! I am a wandering knight, moving from place to place and offering my protection to those who require it!"

Whoever this female was she was clearly terrified. "My name is Aldys. Sir Aldys." His voice had become softer, almost as if he were talking to a child. What would cause one to react in such a way? Clearly this white-furred female had faced conflict before to scare this easily.

Aranea opened her eyes which moments before she had shut tight as she awaited the way the canine would handle her. Confusion filled her gaze as she hesitantly raised her head from the ground, ears perking at the wolf's gruff voice. The nine-tailed fox squinted her vibrant, striking blue eyes at the figure that had halted his advance in front of her. The guy looked like a knight for sure, exactly as he had described himself. The kitsune's heart swooned at the thought of being rescued by a handsome knight in shining armor, although this knight's armor was noticeably darker than she would have otherwise expected. Still though, the male said he was offering protection to those who couldn't protect themselves. With a bit of an embarrassed realization, face becoming a little heated at the knowledge which entered the forefront of her mind, that was exactly what she was. Someone who couldn't defend themselves.

The voluptuous fox took a few steps closer so she could get a better look at the knight named Aldys, eyes adjusting to the dim light better even if it still made her head pound from even such a small dosage of brightness. "A knight you say? Sorry for the pathetic whimpering then. I was really, really scared... I am Aranea Ariandel. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance Sir Aldys," the kitsune purred softly as she took a few steps closer to the male, although her voice was still shaking a bit as the adrenaline that shot through her veins moments before. The fox's limp was quite obvious as she approached the wolf, drifting fur floating gently in rhythm with her pained movements, and a yelp escaped her as she moved her paw the wrong way.

Aranea's head swam from the sudden motion mixed with pain and she had to pause for a moment before returning her icy gaze to the knight she so fervently hoped would rescue her from the lonely and dangerous darkness of the forest. The female's gaze turned soft as she looked the impressive knight's figure over. He looked so capable and impressive. The wolf reminded her a lot of her father which definitely made the male easier to trust, something she had struggled with doing recently. "I'm a painter and a dancer by trade, but I hurt myself in an accident. There isn't much I can offer you like this besides a companion and a warm body to lay next to, but um... If you'd be willing to accompany me I'd be in your debt Sir Aldys," the vulpine female asked, eyes pleading for his help as her head returned upwards from a respectful bow. She was raised to understand nobility and the like so she was keen on honoring the wolf's title of knight, regardless of whether it was self imposed or not. If the warrior was caring enough to offer his assistance to those in need than he was a hero in her book, one that she desperately needed given her current situation.

  • As the fox drew closer she would inevitably get a better look at the wolf's face, and the numerous scars that crossed it while somehow not detracting from the males appearance. He was clearly accustomed to battle, and had walked off more than one killing field before.

"I would be more than happy to assist you in your endeavors, Miss Aranea. And don't worry about any sort of payment, I do this out of the kindness of my heart." The battle-scarred wolf had expected to find work at the next clan he stopped at, but it appears that work had found him. Not that he minded, It kept hm from having to choose where to go.

Aranea had to admit that the timber wolf had a certain grizzled charm to his battle scarred visage that only added to the masculinity that essentially radiated off the male in waves. She couldn't fathom all the things he must have gone through to get all of those scars, let alone imagine herself being able to do such a thing. She always found warriors so impressive because it was something that she had always been terrible at not to mention being against violence all together. Then again most people couldn't recreate the image of the world perfectly or envision a beautiful new one like she could, nor did many have the graceful talents of a flowing dancer. Some people just had things they were good at it seemed. Aranea's was creativity, and it seemed like Aldys's was combat.

With a delighted yip the kitsune rushed towards the armor clad male and wrapped him in her tails gently; a sort of hug she had grown accustomed to giving when someone made her happy. The female pulled away from the male and looked up at his imposing form, narowe features beaming with happiness. "Thank you Aldys! If only there were more people like you! I know you say you don't need payment, but I'll try to find someway to make it up to you brave knight," Aranea said happily as she smiled softly at the war weary warrior. The movement of her tails had begun to move in a more flowing manner, indicative of her being much more calm, but their was the occasional jerk that was in time with a painful wince from the female.

The nine-tailed fox cocked her head to the side as she looked at the wolf, fur atop her head swaying to one side as she did. "C-Can we find somewhere to lay down and rest? I um, admit that I may have had a little bit too much to drink last night," the vulpine inquired as she carefully placed her paw on her head which was consistently throbbing still. The excitement from her reaction to Aldys's acceptance definitely hadn't helped that situation at all. "Not that I'm an alcoholic or anything though of course. It was just a really long night is all. But that's why I have you now right?" Aranea whimpered shamefully as her eyes found the ground, guilty that she was putting yet another thing upon the courageous knight who had come to her aid.

  • The wolf raised a non-existent eyebrow as his new companion showed her thanks. It certainly wasn't every day someone put their large amount of tails around you, but Aldys wasn't particularly fazed. If that was how she said thank you, so be it.

"Yes, that sounds like a good idea. I've been traveling for quite a few hours anyway, so I don't mind taking a rest." the knight replied, adding a small chuckle at the mention of too much to drink. He may be a knight, but Aldys didn't exactly represent a perfect, virtuous one. A strong drink was one of the wolf's favorite ways to end out a day, in fact. "I certainly understand what too much drink can do, and I say this from experience. I just hope you ate something before you indulged, otherwise this morning will be very unpleasant."

Aranea was quite happy to find that the newly met knight wasn't judging her for drinking, and in fact seemed to be quite understanding of the situation. Luckily she had gotten a little bit to eat even though it wasn't the delicious food she was accustomed to. That being said eating hadn't made her head feel any better unfortunately. It was the one think about drinking that she absolutely despised, but it was never bad enough to warrant giving up the mentally numbing relaxation and removal of inhibitions that came with it. Oftentimes the female was quite high strung since she worried about making people happy while doing everything she could to avoid making them upset. When you worried about everyone's feelings except your own it tends to make life quite difficult for you.

The kitsune took a look around the unfamiliar area and came to the conclusion that she had no idea where they even were, and even if she did know it was far too dark for her to really make things out. Her vision in darkness had never been that good to begin with. At least not with the real dark. Figurative darkness she found herself being quite close with and felt comfortable in it since it's what she had constantly been in for the most recent leg of her life. Aldys's appearance had definitely been a welcome change from the lonliness that she was used to though.

"Well if you know you're way around a bottle I'm sure we'll make the best of friends. I'll be honest though Aldys... I don't know where we are. I've just been wandering on my own... I'll do my best to keep up while you look for a place for us. I don't like the dark so I'll be right next to you," the vixen assured him as she smiled warmly towards the male, pressing herself against him to feel protected. Aranea felt safe and comfortable in the presence of the handsome knight in shining armor. Far better than she'd felt in awhile actually. Schneeps had been helpful to helpful to her in her time of need, but the doctor certainly didn't carry the masculine air of authority that Aldys held. Even still though the vulpine female was careful not to let herself become trusting of the self-proclaimed knight. It was too often that she gave her trust to someone only to have it snapped in half. Maybe he was different, but she'd wait to get to know the wolf first.
