  • *:・゚✦ FITZWILLIAM BENNETT

    —— * I'm looking for a mind work:・゚✦

Both brothers seemed surprised when she started to answer. They both laughed though when she laughed finding her comment amusing as well. Brandon had caught her momentarily flustered feeling and smiled with a knowing glint. She had just given him something he could use to the tease her with. Will's blue eyes locked with his brother's darker eyes. "She had figure us out already! You're a sharp one. Just wait though. I am sure you will meet much better connections and we will be a thing of the past." Brandon insisted causing Will to roll his eyes.

"Do not assume to worse of everyone dear brother." Fitzwilliam insisted as Brandon turned his attention to the group he had been socializing with had found a group of young ladies to ask to dance Brandon smirked softly. "It was lovely to meet you Elizabeth I hope we will meet again soon. But, I must go make sure my friends do not make drunk fools of themselves." He said with a bow before kissing her hand again for disappearing into the crowd. "I believe you promised my brother a dance." Will said somewhat reluctantly as he could see his brotger glancing around nervously as one of the last songs had come to an end.

    "Speech."

  • She looked up and raised an eyebrow as Brandon made an assumption that she would just grow away from the siblings. "No I wouldn't... I wouldn't do such a thing. Besides I like being with your siblings. You're definitely not a boring group of people." She defended with a small pout as she looked up at the almost identical sibling. Though she did smile a little when Will stood up on her behalf. It made her feel a little more confident and not to mention happy as well.

She looked up and smiled as Brandon excused himself and curtsied with a small blush once again at the kiss. "Have a good evening, Brandon." She called as he was enveloped by the crowd. Elizabeth looked up as she was reminded about her promise. "Don't worry, I wouldn't forget a promise to one of the first people I met tonight." Elizabeth laughed and started to make her way over to Edward, not before sending a glance back at Will.

Elizabeth made her way over to the anxious male as the song came to an end. "Hey Edward, do you happen to still be ready for a dance?" She asked with a small laugh looking up at him with a friendly smile. "I did promise that I'd come and join you for a dance." She added cheerfully.

Edward was standing with his sisters while he waited they all tried to give a pep talk in their own ways. Eleanor assured him that he was handsome and smart enough to make any woman here fall for him. Lydia was fussing with his jacket and waist coat even pushing hairs back in place. The entire time she was telling to relax and just have fun. Fanny would throw in a quiet word of encouragement in there every once and while. The sisters could see how afflicated he was and wanted him to succeed. Eleanor didn't seem very approving of his choice but, did not discourage it.

Ned was looking around as yet another song ended wondering it Brandon and Will were keeping her entertained and busy. Compared to his brothers he didn't think he held much of chance. When he did spy her, he turned back to his sisters only to met with emptiness and them hurrying off to find dance partners so their brother would have privacy. He nearly jumped when he turned back around and she was already right in front of him. "Most certainly, especially it seems my company has abandoned me already." He chuckled smiling his blues glittering with his excitement, he couldn't hide even if he tried. Offering her his hand he lead her out to the dance floor. "I hope you can find my dance skills tolerable." He said smiling despite it as the music began.

  • She noticed that she seemed to have scared the taller male and smiled up at him after stifling a small giggle by covering her mouth. "Yeah, noticed you're sisters leaving as I made my way over. Sorry to interrupt you're conversation by the way but I did promise that I'd dance with you though. I don't break my promises often either." Elizabeth laughed, noticing his excitement and gently took his hand as it was offered to her. She let herself be lead to the dance floor and smiled as they got into position.

"Tolerable? I should be saying that to you. You've probably been dancing longer than I have... I'm not exactly the best, especially with heels. I'm surprised I didn't stumble when I was dancing with Will earlier." Elizabeth laughed looking up at him as the music started. "But then again, I'm the best at slow dancing out of everything I've learned so far." She added as she glanced down at her feet every few moments to make sure she was making the right moves before glancing back up at him.

Elizabeth gave him a happy smile before saying cheerfully, "But I'm glad you finally seem to lighten up. It's impossible to fully enjoy this dance if you're completely nervous anyway. Not to mention, Will was right when he said you're a good dancer. It's really easy to follow you." She smiled supportively up at him.

  • ★ ★ ★ edward bennett

"You did not interrupt much of a conversation. They were just comparing the men they have danced with." He chuckled shaking his head, well that and giving him a pep talk but, she didn't need to know that detail of the conversation. Moving her easily around the dance floor even though he was still abut nervous he focused on the steps instead. "You are doing very well, just try looking down at your feet less it throws you off balance." He explained with a smile.

He blushed when she mentioned he had become much more relaxed. "It took me a while. I don't have the pleasure of being as social as my brothers. Fanny and I seem to have a contest going to see who can talk the least at parties." He clearly cared deeply for his family especially his sisters who he seemed to adore. "I was always my sisters' dancing partners. They claimed Will was too slow and Brandon was much too short." Giving a soft chuckle he shook his head looking her in the eyes. "Enough about me. I want to hear more about you. How are you adjusting to things?" He asked trying to stop talking only about himself since it seemed rude to him to do so.

    "Speech."

  • "Really? But it is really hard not to look down. I don't want to step on your feet or anything of the sort either." She said, looking up at him with a small laugh. She tried not to glance down between them at her feet though she still slipped up a few times. "Sorry, it seems to have become a new habit." She apologized with a small shake of her head apologetically. Elizabeth really tried to not look down as much as she did moments before and try to focus on him.

She smiled a little as he spoke about how unsociable he was and reassured, "Don't worry, neither am I. Well not in a crowd like this. Sometimes it's fun but most of the time it's awkward." She squeezed his arm softly as another sign as reassurance. "And you really are a good dancer, Edward. I'm not surprised your sisters wanted to dance with you." Elizabeth added with smile, accidentally taking a quick glance down again.

When she looked back up, she was looking into his eyes as he asked about her. She blushed a little and said, "It's definitely a whole new world for me... I've gone from a humble home to a giant mansion that I'd probably get lost in if it weren't for all the lessons my grandmother signed me up for that leave scrambling around the place. It doesn't help suddenly everyone is watching me." She laughed a little before adding in. "It's still a bit surreal for me but I never would've thought I'd end up at a party like this and not as a caterer either."

  • ★ ★ ★ edward bennett

"I know it can be hard to do. But, it helps you not to think too much about it either." He was offering up the advice but, she wasn't a bad dancer by any means. She just needed more experience was all. "You're doing great." He assured despite her apology leading her easily around the dance floor. Ned was having a fun time dancing with her.

Giving a good natured laugh he tried to accept her praise but, it was hard to do since he didn't like to boast or even really brag on any of skills. Still, he appreciated it and did pause to look down at her hand when she squeezed his arm as further reassurance. Clearing his throat his cheeks toke on a pink hue as he took a second to regain his composure.

Leaning forwards he looked down st her listening attentively as she spoke. Nodding in understanding he smiled softly as the song started to wind down. "I am sure you will get used to it. I can't imagine how much of a shock all of this must be. Hopefully it will get easier." Bowing to her as the song ended he walked to the edge of the dance floor so the musicians could play a more lively song.

    "Speech."

  • "I'll try to keep that in mind, Edward." She said, taking the advice with an appreciative smile looking up at him. She tried to keep herself distracted with him to not look down at her feet. Elizabeth listened to the music as she kept her focus on him and smiled at his compliment. "Thanks... just remember that compliment if I fall flat on my face." She teased looking up at him with a lighthearted grin. This was enjoyable for her and it also gave her some more confidence as she started to improve her dancing while with him. It seemed to be a good ice breaker between the two as well since Edward didn't seem to be as nervous as when they were first acquainted.

"I hope you're right.. I do want to fit in with everyone else and make some friends. I really want to represent the Ermengarde name and earn what I've been given." Elizabeth said with a sheepish smile. "Even if it means one day I'll be acting perfect, even though I'm obviously not, while making a good name for myself and my family." She added with a smile. As the song ended, she curtsied to him and followed him off the dance floor. "That was fun, Edward. We should do that again one day. Specifically when I get a little bit better in the future and get some more experience with dancing." She laughed with a soft smile as a cheerful song started to play in the background.

  • ★ ★ ★ edward bennett

As they left the dance floor he looked her up and down for a moment before nodding his head. "Yes it would appear you are still in one piece. You survived." He laughed softly as he turned to briefly watched the more lively dance that seemed to take up the whole floor. He was rather glad he had gotten to dance a slow song with her since he wasn't as comfortable dancing the quicker dances.

"If it makes any difference you are off to a great start. Six friends in one party that is a great deal." His tone was much calmer and playful now, even seeming to share Brandon's playfulness at times. It helped to have had some time to get to know her. Now he felt at less comfortable enough to hold a conversatiom with her. "I do too hopefully it will be soon." Sheepishly looking away he didn't relaize his sisters were about to descend on them like vultures.

Lydia appeared first almost from thin air and Eleanor and Fanny followed the same vain. Lydia had a huge grin on her face as if she had just gotten what she wanted. "Elizabeth my parents would like to invite you and your grandmother to tea with us tomorrow. You are very good company and I know Edward would be very glad if you did accept." Lydia blurted out not seeming to notice she had barged into the pair's conversation. Ned cleared his throat his cheeks becoming red when his sister mentioned he would be happy if she accepted it was true but, Lydia didn't have to point it out.

    "Speech."

  • She laughed a little as he made a playful observation. "Yes, I'm definitely a true survivor of the ballroom floor. And you're feet aren't severely damaged either. It seems like a big win-win situation for us both." Elizabeth laughed looking up at him just as playfully as he was to her and glanced over at the guests dancing. She would've joined in but she was once again held back by her heels and the fact she was hardly familiar with the dances. But she could always take the time to learn the dances but for now she planned on taking it slow and steady. It wouldn't do her any good to go faster than she should to learn the dances and to get them right.

"Thanks! It's great to know I'm off to good start, my grandmother would be proud to hear about the progress I have made. But it couldn't have been possible without the help of the Bennett siblings." Elizabeth laughed with a small appreciative curtsy. "I really am glad I got to meet you and you're family. I am pleased that I got to dance with you, and Will too, tonight as well." She added, politely folding her hands together in front of her. "It was an honor to know I made a good impression on you all while you've all been so welcoming toward me." Elizabeth smiled.

She looked over and jumped slightly as suddenly Lydia appeared out of no where with her siblings in tow. For some reason, she looked as if she just accomplished something and she couldn't help but wonder if it was a good thing or a bad thing. However she soon received an answer for her thoughts as she heard she was invited back over along with her grandmother. Elizabeth felt excitement and overjoy come over her which showed in her emerald orbs and on her face. This was the first time this had happened with her alone and it seemed she made more progress socializing than she initially thought. She hardly noticed the comment about Edward being happy as she tried to calm herself down and keep a cool head about it. "I-I would love to! My grandmother would be pleased to hear about this as well!" She cheered, still a bit in shock by the sudden invitation. "I really appreciate this, thank you!" She added with a grateful smile as she clasped her hands.

Lydia clapped her hands excitedly glad that her plan had worked. Before she had even opened her mouth to ask her mother brought up the idea, she must have seen how well her and Ned were hitting it off. She was rooted for Edward to get to spend more time with her while also hoping to get to know her better herself. Smiling himself he was happy to hear she was coming to visit tomorrow and was a bit surprised that their parents would extend such an invitation to someone they hadn't formally met themselves. "I think we are all looking forward to it. My parents are dying to meet you." She giggled softly as their father walked out into the center of the floor thanking everyone for coming. Slowly people began to say their farewells a few stopping to say goodbye to the Bennett children. Lydia gave one last curtsy to Elizabeth before hurrying off with some young gentleman to say private goodbyes. "Have a goodnight Miss Ermengarde." Eleanor said politely making her own departure. Fanny looked around in panic realizing she had been left. Nodding quickly she opened her mouth to say something but, quickly turned red and scurried off.

Edward was now alone with Elizabeth again. "It was really nice to meet you. Did you come here all alone?" He blinked abruptly realizing she didn't have anyone with her all even. He was about to ask if she would like him to ride with her until she gotten home safely. But, that didn't get to happen since his brother strolled up to talk to Elizabeth now. Brandon smiled softly and bowed to Elizabeth. "It was a pleasure to meet you. Since you came alone my father thinks one of us should have the pleasure of taking you home. I believe one of these two would be more grateful for it then I would." Brandon said bluntly but, wore a good natured smile the whole time.

  • "I am very much excited to meet the people who threw this magnificent ball as well. I apologize if I seemed a bit over excited at such a thing but it's a bit flattering to receive such an invitation without my grandmother here with me." She said once she took a moment to calm down, just leaving her flustered. Not to say she wasn't still excited about the invitation but she was doing a bit better job at masking any over excitement. She had come far socially tonight and she didn't want her emotions running loose and accidentally make a fool out of herself.

Elizabeth looked up as what appeared to be the head of the Bennett family calling an end to the party and thanking everyone for their participation. She turned back to the sisters and said, "It seems the party is over.. I had a delightful time tonight and meeting you all made it a lot better for me. Have a great rest of the night, Bennett sisters. Let's chat more tomorrow, okay?" She murmured, giving them one last curtsy for a night before they left her alone to be with Edward. Elizabeth turned to him and gave him a friendly smile.

"Yes I did come alone. My grandmother can't babysit me forever at events like this and thought this would be the perfect place for me to get my bearings. I'll admit it was nerve wrecking at first but she was certainly correct. I had a good time and I met some fantastic people, including you Edward." The young girl said before giving him a curtsy just as Brandon showed up. "It was an honor to meet you too, Brandon." She added with a smile, curtsying once more.

She looked up at his next words and blushed at the offer of an escort home. "Well... I don't really need one but Edward, you can come with me if you wish. I just need to say my goodbyes to Will first okay? I should also at least tell your parents that I accepted their invitation and thank them in person for their invitation too." Elizabeth said looking up at him with a soft smile.

  • ★ ★ ★ edward bennett

Edward had almost missed her compliment but, he did an it made him blush noticeably. Brandon who was now standing with them slapped his brother on the back catching his brother's blush. Of course Brandon drawing attention to him made him blush even more now. "I couldn't have asked for better company." Managing to get himself put back together well enough offering her a shy smile.

Casting a disapproving look at Brandon sometimes he wished that his brother would keep his mouth sealed. Of course it did make him wonder how obvious his attraction to Elizabetg really was. It was a mortifying thought to think she even knew of how smitten he was already. Blinking with surprise he was caught off guard for a moment. "I would have no greater honor. Please take your time. My brother and parents are saying goodbye to the last of guests now." He said quickly shifting slightly. The ballroom was almost empty now with only a few strangling couples. Brandon only gave a mischievous smile before bowing to the lady. "Til tomorrow." Brandon said his farewell walking away and stifling a yawn when he thought no one was lookingz

The young man had kept himself busy by socializing with guests and dancing a dance or two, one with Fanny and then finished the dance with Clementine's younger sister when Fanny became to nervous to go on. It had been a very good ball that had been much more pleasant then he thought it would be.

He escorted his fiancé's sisters to door with assurances he would make time to see their ill sister. He walked back into the now very quiet ballroom which had become occupied by servants who had begun to clean any signs the ball had taken place at all. He nodded to Brandon and his sisters as they went to their rooms to undo all the things they had done for the party. He spied Elizabeth and Edward together letting out a soft sigh. He should be very happy for his brother and he was trying to be.

    "Speech."

  • She noticed that he got flustered at her compliment, and even more so after his brother slapped his back. He did seem to blush sometimes when he received a compliment that she said to him. Did he really think she was that important to seem hung on her every word? For some reason, she felt flustered herself at the last question she thought about. How could she be so important so quickly? It took her a moment but soon it hit her like a pound of bricks. Did... Did he like her? Has he fallen in love with her?

Her face turned bright red at sudden realization. She thought he was just really shy and not much of a socializer. Though the thought made her heart race as she glanced up at him before looking away trying to calm herself. He was handsome and a decent man him who treated her kindly and he liked her. She started to compose herself as he accepted the role of her escort for the night. She smiled and curtsied. "Thank you, Edward, this should be quick. I don't want to keep you out later than needed." Elizabeth said with a smile, a small blush still on her face.

She looked over and quickly noticed Fitzwilliam. Elizabeth gave a soft smile and said, "I'll say good bye to Will first." She said looking up at Edward before heading over to the older male and smiled up at him. "Hey Will, tonight was a great time and it's all thanks to you. If you hadn't asked me to dance or introduced me to your siblings, I wouldn't have made as much progress as I did and I would've had such a horrible time trying to socialize on my own." Elizabeth said with a smile and curtsied to him. "My grandmother and I was invited back tomorrow for tea, I do hope to see you then." She said looking up at him. "I wanted to get a chance to say farewell before I left."

  • ★ ★ ★ edward bennett

Edward didn't fail to notice her face turning red as well. But, since he wasn't inside her head he had no idea why. Catching her sly look back at him the thought suddenly dawned on him. She must be suspicious that he had feelings for her. He managed to smile and nod when she excused herself to say goodbye to Will. After she was gone he let out an exasperated hoping that he was just imagining thing.

Turning his head he saw Elizabeth making her way over to him. Out of sigh his brother looked like he was about to faint again. Flickering his blue eyes back to Elizabeth he gave a wide smile shaking his head. "You give me too much credit but, it was my pleasure all the same." Bowing at the end of his words he tipped his head curiously as she mentioned being invited for tea tomorrow. Well it seemed mentioning to his mother had done just the trick. "I will make a point to find you tomorrow." He assured looking towards his parents.

They strolled over, an older gentleman and a small woman on his arm. The gentleman nodded bowing slightly to Elizabeth and his wife curtsied shortly after. "I hope you enjoyed our little party Miss Ermengarde. I know my children has grown quite fond of you already." He chuckled a hearty laugh. Lady Bennett smiled a small polite smile. "Dear I hope you don't find our invitation too forward." The Lady of the house said softly worried that they may seem too bold in doing so.

Fitzwilliam said a brief good night to his parents kissing his mother on the cheek before turning back to Elizabeth. His eyes lingered on her for several seconds as if trying to find the right words. "Sleep well sweet Elizabeth thank you for the dance." Will said bowing one last time before kissing her hand. His blue eyes seem to study her for just a brief moment before he smiled and followed his siblings up to their rooms giving one last glance back pausing at the banister. Edward deserved the chance to be happy. Continuing up the stairs he made his way down the quiet hall to his room.

    "Speech."

  • "Don't be humble Will, I truly did have a good time with you and I got some experience with socializing with you and your siblings. You're more responsible for my success tonight than I am myself and I completely appreciate you that. God bless your soul." Elizabeth said with a thoughtful smile looking up at Fitzwilliam. To her, she'd would've been standing off to the side, awkwardly fiddling with her fingers all night and hoping she could socialize with some of the guest but never getting the actual chance to do so or her awkwardness holding her back.

She glanced up at Will as he said he'd find her tomorrow. "I'm glad... Because tomorrow I am going to take notes from you on how to socialize with strangers." She laughed although she was half serious. "But I'm sure my grandmother will want to meet all of the new people I socialized with... mostly to see how I did and if I was better than being awkward or talking to one of the servants all night." Elizabeth laughed putting a hand in front of her mouth to quiet herself down a little.

She looked up as the Lord and Lady Bennett approached them and she quickly straightened up a little, trying to make a good first impression and show them her best posture. Elizabeth put on a polite smile and curtsied back just after the Lady did. "Thank you, sir. I had a great time tonight and I got to meet the family that invited me as well. I apologize for my Grandmother's absence but she felt that I should test out my social skills without her to see how I did." She apologized with a small apologetic smile. "Thanks to Fitzwilliam, Eleanor, Lydia, Fanny, Edward, and Brandon I had such a wonderful time."

Elizabeth smiled reassuringly as the woman seemed to fret. "Mrs. I really appreciate the invitation and would like to officially accept on the behalf of the Ermengardes. My Grandmother will be more than pleased and thankful for this invitation tonight and to know I made a good impression tonight. I would like to thank you as well." She said politely, curtsying. "Have a good night, Sir and madam." She said as they headed of to bed. "Sweet dreams to you too, Will." She murmured with a curtsy and a small blush as he kissed her hand. Elizabeth watched as he left her and once he had vanished, she looked back of to Edward.

"I have finished saying my goodbyes," she said softly as she rejoined him. "Are you ready to go?" She asked with a small smile.

  • ★ ★ ★ edward bennett

Lady Bennett smiled sweetly and looked up to her husband. They both shared a pleased look before turning their attention back to her. "We look forward to tomorrow then." The Lady said curtsying before following her husband and children to bed. Now the only people left were the occasional servant and Ned and Elizabeth.

When she rejoined him he was talking to a servant who then rushed off to fetch him a horse to ride. Nodding he turned to Elizabeth. "I believe we are ready to depart. We do not want to keep you too long and let your grandmother worry." He said as the servant he had been talking to handed him a hat in case it rained. He hoped the weather would hold and it would an uneventful journey both ways.

Leading her out the door the carriage and the young man's horse had already been brought out front held by servants until they were ready to depart. Taking the horse's bridle he swept up on to the horse and took a lantern from the servant's other hand. Nodding a thank you he turned to look and see if Elizabeth had made it into the carriage yet.

    "Speech."

  • She smiled and looked up to him as she was spoken to. "Okay, Edward. I'm sure she is awaiting my arrival soon. I am very grateful that you're coming along with me, Ned." Elizabeth said cheerfully as he was given a hat. She truly thought the man was a sweetheart for coming along with her even at the possibility of rain. Though she was hoping it didn't rain, especially while it was dark outside. It wasn't her goal to get them stuck while it was raining, cold and dark outside. She followed after him as they made an exit and headed to the carriage. "Your horse is beautiful, and so is the carriage." She complimented, though tempted to pet the man of the horse. However she didn't want to spook the horses mane by accident and headed for the carriage instead.

With the help of the servants, who made sure her dress didn't get caught on the way in. She sat down on the seat, get comfortable and thanked the servants for their help. Elizabeth smiled as Edward looked back to check on her after getting on the horse and gave him a thumbs up. "All set back here, Edward! We can go when ever you're ready!" She called out to him and gave a small wave.

  • ★ ★ ★ edward bennett

Edward laughed as she complimented the carriage and his horse. "I had little to do with the carriage but, I am glad you like it." Smiling he gathered his horse's reins noticing her momentary pause looking at the horse's long mane. He would have to offer to show her the horses and stables tomorrow. For now, he was glad she didn't stop to pet the horse since any delay could lead them to be caught out in the rein and he did not want to return Elizabeth wet or sick. When he got her thumbs up he nodded and whistled to driver of the carriage who cracked the whip and the horses started to make their way through the night.

The entire ride there Edward rode close to her window of the carriage every once and a while looking to make sure she was comfortable. Holding his lantern out in front of him it wasn't hard to see although the sky had started to become darker and he could smell the faint hint of rain in the air. Luckily for them they made it before the first raindrops started to fall. Leaving his horse with the coachman he walked over and opened the door of the carriage offering her his arm to help her take the step down. "Here we are Miss Ermengarde." He said with a soft smile although he could feel a drop hit his hand which did make him look briefly up at the sky.

    "Speech."

  • Elizabeth spent most of her time by the window, watching the nighttime scenery passing by the carriage as they moved ahead. It was still unbelievable to her that she ended up in such a high class position and how much progress she seemed to make within the few months she'd been in the Ermengarde mansion. The months were mostly spent with her various lessons and catching up with her Grandmother. She stared out of the window, wondering if she really deserved everything she was given so far. Shaking her head and trying to distract her wandering mind, Elizabeth often sent Edward a smile or two when she caught him checking up on her from his horse.

She looked up as the cart came to a complete stop. Elizabeth looked out the window to see the faint figure of a familiar mansion and Edwards own figure approaching the carriage door. As it opened, she cautiously made her way down using his arms for support. She gave a thankful smile as she was soon out of the carriage and facing him. "Thank you, Edward." She said before noticing that he looked up at the sky for a short moment and did the same only to get a small drop of water land on her forehead. "It's about to start raining... would you like a coat to take with you? I don't want you to get drenched or sick on my account..." She fretted looking back at him.
