  • Candle light envelopes the whole room in a hushed and quiet peace. Ideal conversations drift around the room like smoke filling everyone's ears and mouths. It is peaceful and quiet the kind of peaceful that hardly ever existed without hidden strife. At one end of the table sits a young couple gazing fondly into each other's eyes not seeming to notice anything about the world outside of each other's gaze. On the other side is a young couple who seem very frigid to each other sitting an arm's length away while their silverware makes the only noise between them. The young man's gaze keeps drifting across the table. His eyes never leave the happy couple and he seems almost solely consumed with watching their every little move and mannerism. The only thing that delivers him from this trance is a sharp bump from his fiance's elbow. Snapping to he glares at the roast duck laid out before him. Stabbing up a couple bites with his fork the duck tastes like nothing special just another dull boring thing. When he stole a glance back up at the couple his jaw tensed and with all the poise he could muster he excused himself from the evening. Before a face could even turn to acknowledge him his chair flew back and he stalked out of the room leaving a wadded napkin laying on his plate.

    Plot

I'm sorry if the plot is a little confusing I just really liked it and wanted to make a thread for it. The plot is fairly basic but, we can make things more complicated if we want to. All I need is a picture and a name and we can start. It will start at the ball where Muse B will met Muse A and then later on in the night Muse C. Hope you enjoy :)

    *:・゚✦ FITZWILLIAM BENNETT

    —— * I'm looking for a mind work:・゚✦

It had begun the Bennett's annual ball that had every young woman from the nearby estates giddy. Anyone who received an invitation was considered to be of great importance afterwards. It was right before the London social season and provided a grand opportunity for young men and women to rub elbows before being thrown into the whirlwind of parties and social gatherings that happened in London. As the guests started to arrive promptly at 6 o' clock the Bennett children were all lined up on display in their finest clothing. At the head of the line was one Fitzwilliam Bennett, the oldest of the children and certain to come into a great fortune when his father died. As guests arrived Fitzwilliam talked pleasantly with several of them not remembering a single word that was said to him afterwards. It all went by in such a blur. Still, as the last of the punctual guests arrived the children were released to enjoy the festivities. Floating along the edge of the dance floor he watched his sister's disappear in a giggling frenzy. His younger brother had disappeared as well going to find his hunting buddies.

Letting out a labored sigh he stood at the fringe of people trying to keep away from anyone's attention. Normally Clementine would have her hands wrapped around his arm stirring him around the dance floor and instructing him who to to speak with and who to avoid. He did not miss her one bit and thought it was an act of God above that she had come down with a fever the night before, thus unable to attend the ball. Her sisters came in her stead sending their deepest regrets all while smiling and in awe over the people there. The band was playing a lively waltz that seemed to match the atmosphere that seemed to be almost electric everyone but, Will seemed happy and jovel. What he wouldn't give to have simple joy. Instead everything perplexed or bored him. Nothing made him feel the thumping in his chest. He was almost unsure if it was there anymore.

His eyes drifted listlessly across the ballroom covered in ribbons and tables decorated in intricate lace. Turning back towards the front entrance his eyes caught a young lady walking in alone. Studying her as she made her way across the room he concluded she could only be the new arrival that now lived with her grandmother. She was an absolutely stunning creature and at once he felt the faint thump come from his chest. Not knowing what pocessed him his legs carried him through the crowd to her side of the ballroom. As he neared his brisk walk slowed down considerably until he strolled over casually and gave a small bow to the young lady. "I know this may seem quite sudden but, I couldn't help but, notice you. Would you care for a dance?" He asked with a polite smile not knowing where this was all coming from.

    Elizabeth Ermengarde

<> All I have’s my honor, a tolerance for Pain, a couple of college credits and my top-notch brain <>

Elizabeth took a deep breath as she looked up at the mansion. She had practically been thrown into an unfamiliar world she wasn't used to. The young woman had been used to small dances in the humble country side, where the dances were slightly more fast paced and less formal. But here... here the all the party guests probably had shoes that cost more than her groceries for a month back at her old home. However, her grandmother insisted that she goes to this party and that she wore a formal dress and shoes like all the other classy young women that had attended even though she didn't even want to know how much the dress cost. Her grandmother made her attend to one or two smaller gatherings before to make her 'place' among the nobles and other high class guests. But this time, she was told to go alone.

The thought intimidated her slightly. She wanted to appreciate everything from the beautiful dresses to being able to live in her grandmothers estate but was this really something she could get used to? Finding out that her grandmother was rich one thing, but learning to carry on the Ermengarde name alone and become someone who was good with the higher class society within a few months was a different ball game. But she didn't have much of a choice and she was already at the Bennett estate for the ball. Pushing her fears and nervousness back, she held her head high and walked in. Elizabeth was graceful as she entered, making sure of it as she entered. Guests were chatting away with each other but she suddenly realized she didn't know anyone there and the few she'd seen before was already in a conversation. Quickly but still graceful, She moved to the edge of the room, avoiding a few glances from the other guest.

However, Elizabeth kept a positive mindset as she watched the guests start getting into pairs and dancing. She did take a few lessons so she could keep up at events like these. Maybe she could socialize with her partner and be introduced to others. She wasn't ready to butt into a strangers conversation but if she could get a small window to socialize, she would do it to at least get some experience and to give herself a good name. Fortunately a taller male came over and she was captivated by the man at a glance. She fought down any feelings of nervousness and smiled back at him. Giving him a small curtsey, Elizabeth looked up at him with a soft smile. "I would be honored... My name is Elizabeth Ermengarde. I would love to dance with you."

It was unusual for him to feel the way he did. He felt slightly anxious and nervous about her answer. He never felt this way when talking to anyone really. Why was he afraid of rejection? It would not destroy anything if she said no. But, he felt like a man proposing to the love of his life. He soothed his nerves trying to assure himself it was a dance, simply that. When she finally gave an answer his smile grew and his eyes sparked a bit. Although it was just a dance he felt wave of relief was over him. "Really the pleasure is all mine. It is lovely to meet you Miss Ermengarde. I am Fitzwilliam Bennett, Will if you prefer." He suggested clearing his throat as the band paused for a moment to shuffle through their sheet music.

In only a moment they began playing the first notes of a new song. It was a much slower one but, all the songs were lively for the noble circles since Lord Bennett himself thought the children should be able to enjoy a bit more lively party. "Shall we?" Will suggested outstretching his hand to her. Leading the way out on to the expansive floor he put his hands just where they should go and his feet seemed to sync with the music on their own with little in put from him. That was good since at the moment he was almost completely distracted by the young woman in front of her.

The music carried them around the floor along with several other young couples. "The rumors say you have just arrived. What do you think of it all? It is different to say the least." He did not know her exact feelings about the high society life but, he could imagine it was quite the culture shock to say the least.

    "Speech."

  • Elizabeth felt her cheeks grow a light shade of red as he seemed to brighten up at her answer. It was almost cute and she couldn't help it as her own smile grew at his own. Though she honestly didn't recognize him at first, at the sound of his name she quickly realized that it was his family that was holding the ball. "Please call me, Elizabeth. Ermengarde is my name as well but it is also something I think I need to work for and earn." She said with a sheepish smile looking up at him, keeping her mild surprise about his name under control. She noticed the band switching songs and took the moment to glance their way and back to him. She definitely didn't want to be caught staring at him especially since they first met only seconds ago. Though she did find herself quite charmed by him at the moment.

Gently she took his hand as it was offered to her and answered with a smile, "We shall." She followed him to the floor and had to look down slightly to make sure her feet were in position with his. Elizabeth smiled as she looked back up at him and put her hands where she was supposed to and followed his lead. Thankfully she wasn't so nervous as to stumble against him or step on his feet, but she did find herself often trying not to stare up at him. She wanted to look good, not just as a social thing anymore but she wanted to seem elegant as she looked up at him. However she also wanted let go a little bit and show him a less formal side to her, not that she'd let that happen at the moment.

She looked up as he asked her about being new on the scene. A question she got often and normally told the truth to. Though how would he react to her story? Nonetheless, Elizabeth gave a small nervous laugh and said, "Well, it is different from my old home... My mother and father worked at a bakery in the country. The community wasn't as... fancy as this and there was less worry about who's talking to who. I also knew who I was talking to... since I'm new in this scene, I don't know much about anyone here except that they have high statuses." She admitted glancing away before glancing back up at him with a small blush. "What about you though? Isn't your family the ones holding the ball tonight? I wanted to say I was glad to be invited but I didn't exactly know the faces of who threw this Ball in the first place. " She added with a slight flustered look at her admission.

While she was succeeding not the state he was having a much harder time with it. She absolutely gorgeous and he hadn't felt this way about a woman in a very long time. Of course if his fiancé were here this dance would not have even been offered and he would have been spoken for. Since she seas not here it provided him a rare freedom he did not often get. Although it was improper to dance with others when you are engaged no one would know that he was being anything more then friendly.

Nodding along as she told her story he supposed it was a strange one but, also very intriguing. Very few people from the outside breeched into the tightly sewn together elites. "You will find meet people quickly. You are the talk of the town capitalize on it." Moving her with the music he did not seem very put off by her origins. Others would easily find fault with it but, there was no use in judging her for something she had no control over. Giving her a reassuring smile he glanced over at his two sisters staring out at the sister who had been asked to dance. "I will introduce you to my siblings if that will help you become more acquainted." The young Mr. Bennett offered failing to notice his second oldest brother staring wistfully towards his dance partner.

At first he didn't really seem to want to address her question of his family. It was a familiar question that normally ended with the lady asking how much he was estimated to make a year. "Yes I am the oldest and I have five younger siblings. My father thinks he is doing everyone a service by throwing these parties. Since you are all the rage on the social scene it seemed only right to invite you. I would be lying if I said I wasn't glad we had." He admitted with a bit of a sly glance towards her before turning his attention to the band as the song wound down. "Would you like to be introduced to the rest of the Bennett siblings?" Offering her arm out towards her he saw no harm in helping her put names to faces. He would later come to regret this decision.

    "Speech."

  • She smiled as his words, she replied, "I know everyone has heard of my presence now. Though the women are busy trying to socialize and kind of out do the other women in class and the men are either mingling with others or being told who they should talk to and who they shouldn't talk to. However my grandmother would have a fit if she heard I tried to socialize with the caterers again. It's hard to capitalize this as I can barely start a conversation." She chuckled with a smile as she looked up at him. She felt nervous as she almost wanted to stare at him. He was handsome and kind. Not to mention, he was the easiest person to talk to at the moment.

She perked up as he offered to introduce her to his siblings. "Thank you, I would love to meet your siblings, Will. It would be nice to get some experience in these types of social situations, you know?" She said with a smile as she let him lead the dance. She was happy to say she hadn't stepped on his foot yet, taking a moment to glance down every few seconds to see where his feet were compared to her own. Elizabeth was doing great, better than she thought she would but she definitely didn't want to mess it up by stumbling. Especially since he was a charming man alone and didn't want to make a fool of herself in front of him.

She listened as he talked about his siblings and the party. Elizabeth blushed at the last part before replying. "I'm flattered to be here as well. I know its not everyday someone like me gets a chance as great as this but I'm really nothing special. But you... The oldest child of five siblings? That must've been difficult too.. I'm an only child, but I heard siblings often quarrel. Though that may have been different with your family." She murmured looking up at him with a small laugh. "But I would love to meet your siblings tonight. I want to make the best impression here that I can." She laughed taking his arm politely. "Shall we go then?" She asked with a gentle smile toward him.

It was strange that he found her so charming since he had only just met her but, she seemed much more normal and down to earth. "I will not tell her I promise. I don't see much wrong with socializing with anyone. The best hunter I ever met was a blacksmith. You never know." He dropped his voice with a wink since he wouldn't spread it that she loved to talk to the caterers and servants that wasn't something you wanted leaking out. When she took his arm he gave a soft nod and looked around the room picking out where his siblings were.

Locating his three sisters all gathered together he started to walk their way. The eldest of the girls a fair brunette spied them and began whispering with her sisters. He knew him walking with another girl would get back to Clementine but, he would excuse it as merely being hospitable. As they approached the three girls separated. "We rarely fight but, we do love to play few good pranks on each other." He snickered as he saw the man Lydia his other sister had been dancing with joking and laughing with his youngest brother. Will cleared his throat and three girls curtiesed on que. "Elizabeth these are my sisters Eleanor, Lydia, and Fanny Bennett. Sisters this is Mrs. Ermengarde's granddaughter Elizabeth." Smoothly explaining the connection the three girls all chattered on excitedly.

Eleanor smiled looking the girl up and down as if she were a new dress in the window of a shop. "It is lovely to meet you Elizabeth. You look absolutely incredible." She said with a smug air about her. Whic earned her a narrowed glare from her brother.

Lydia the youngest with wild black hair giggled softly. "Oh do be nice Ellie. Your dress is gorgeous. I would love to know where you got it." The girl smiled warmly.

The middle girl Fanny blinked before stepping back a couple steps. "Good to meet you." She said in a very meek and timid voice drawing back behind her sisters.

Fitzwilliam cleared his throat looking affectionately at Fanny as she tried to be social but, it was not working well. "Should I leave you three or would you like meet my other siblings?" He asked quietly to Elizabeth so the other girls couldn't hear. "My brothers are decent people I swear it." He joked turning his head slightly as he saw his middle brother walking over as if he too were possessed. His face was red and he was looking away but, he knew his brother well enough to know he was coming this way.

    "Speech."

  • "I really appreciate it, Will. It'll be our little secret," Elizabeth said with a small smile. Although she did blush at his wink and glanced away slightly while he looked for his siblings. Thankfully, he didn't seem to notice it and she quickly calmed herself before they walked across the room toward them. She stood up straight and tried to seem as eloquent as possible. Though there was still an awkward air around her that she couldn't avoid. Admittedly she was nervous, but that didn't stop her from keeping her head held high and seemingly confident as they approached his trio of sisters. "Pranks huh? Sounds fun." She laughed looking up at him with a grin before looking back at the sisters as they got closer.

She was shocked about how smoothly he introduced his sisters and herself. Taking a mental note to ask him how to do that later, she smiled politely back at the trio and curtsied back. Eleanor did intimidate her slightly with her smug air. She couldn't tell if she meant what she said or she was just playing but she still kept head up. Lydia and Fanny seemed nicer, though Fanny was obviously shy and less talkative than the other two. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Eleanor, Lydia, and Fanny." She said just before Fitzwilliam asked her if she wanted meet his brothers. A tough question at first, since she wanted to meet the rest of his siblings but she didn't want to seem rude and leave the sisters as quickly as she met them.

"Let's stay for a few more moments, and then can I meet your brothers? I want to meet your siblings but I don't want to seem rude and like I want to get away in a hurry." She replied just as quietly as him. "And I'm sure your brothers are more than decent company but they're probably not so excited to meet me to drag me away from your sisters." She added with a small laugh. She didn't notice an unknown sibling coming towards them as she turned back to the Bennett sisters for more conversation. "I got my dress from my grandmother.. She had it custom made for me and I really can't thank her enough for it." She said, looking at Lydia. "I could ask my grandmother about the people who made it if you want." Elizabeth added with a kind smile.

Will was glad to see she could keep up with his sisters especially Lydia who could talk circles around most people and tended to drive of people away when she wouldn't let them get a word in edge wise. "Alright just do not worry about Eleanor she is harmless." He mumbled feeling eyes staring their way. Turning he caugh his brother's eye who standing back looking like he was about to pass out. Furrowing his brow he looked his brother over.

The sisters hadn't noticed how ill their brother was looking behind them. They were solely focused on Elizabeth since she was a curiousity to all of them. "Please do I would love to know who made it." Lydia clasped her hands and looked between Eleanor and Fanny. "So what do think of our humble home?" Eleanor asked a bit pointedly which Lydia quickly bumped her sister shaking her head. "What she meant is that we hope you are enjoying the party." The younger sister added quickly.

Fitzwilliam turned abruptly as he saw his brother slowly coming over. "It looks like you will get to meet one of my brothers already." He joked and motioned to his brother who was standing a bit away looking at him seeming as shy as Fanny was. "Elizabeth this is the second oldest Edward Bennett." Will said bringing his brother into the conversation. "And Ned this is Ms. Elizabeth Ermengarde." Will have a polite smile trying to make it easier for him to come in and maybe relax a bit since he seemed so tense.

Slowly making his way over he was a bundle of nerves. As soon as he had seen Elizabeth dancing with his brother. He felt almost sick with jealousy that his brother was the one she was dancing with. Despite quite a few doubts running through his mind he managed to make it over to them by the time the pair began talking to his sisters. He prayed that he would have enough courage to say hello.

When his brother introduced him officially he gave a small bow giving a sweet smile although his cheeks were a bit red from his embarrassment at being so caught off guard. "It is lovely to meet you." He said with a nervous laugh. "Sorry for barging in on your conversation it was rude of me."

    "Speech."

  • She nodded once he told her about not to worry about Eleanor. It reassured her a bit though she still had some doubts. She smiled as Lydia clasped her hands and said, "It'd be no problem. I'm sure that I could get her to tell me the tailor is and send you a letter with the details." Elizabeth looked up as Eleanor asked her a question that made her a little nervous to answer. "Your house is beautiful, something to be admired." Elizabeth said, choosing her words carefully as not to make her irritable. "I really am enjoying the party. It's my first one without my grandmother so I'm trying to become a bit more social and make good impressions." She added with a smile.

Elizabeth looked up as Will spoke up and smiled as she was told she was about to meet another sibling. She followed his gaze to see a man that looked just as handsome as Fitzwilliam but a bit shy like his sister. Putting on a friendly smile, she looked over to the sisters. "Excuse me ladies. If I don't talk or see you the rest of the night, you can be sure that I'll get back to you on the tailor, Lydia." She said with a smile. She curtsied and said, "Good evening ladies." With that she made her way toward the second brother with Fitzwilliam as he introduced them.

She curtsied as she was introduced to Edward and gave him a friendly smile. "It's great to meet you, Edward." She said, noting his nervousness. She shook her head at his apology. "No, no don't apologize at your own party. Besides, I need to meet as much people as I can and Will was going to introduce me to you soon anyway." Elizabeth reassured with a laugh.

Just from the way his brother was acting he knew how his brother was feeling. He was already smitten with Elizabeth. Will of course couldn't blame his little brother and thought he should be happy for him. But, he also was feeling a little bit uneasy knowing that he and his brother both were attracted to the same woman.

"Edward is the best dancer of all of us." He said finally trying to help his brother. Ned kept looking at Will and Will almost wanted to leave the two alone if it weren't for the fact that Ned looked like he was about to pass out this moment. He was trying to let Ned doing most of the talking at not but in.

Her smile seemed to help calm him down a little although he kept glancing at his brother. He didn't want to be caught staring at her even if he was barely looking at her to begin with. Rubbing his arm he looked at his brother for a long moment before finally getting the courage to look at her fully. "I am afraid I am impatient at times." Of course he should have known Wil was going to introduce them.

"I unfortunately had very little to do with putting this party on. My job is to smile and talk to guests neither of which I am very good at." He laughed softly taking a long deep breath to calm his nerves. "My brother is probably the best person to help you get know everyone." He assured her looking at his brother who exuded confidence while he seemed to struggle to socialize. Normally he could hold a conversation but, that was extremely tough with someone as goregeous as she was. His cheeks grew hot again and he rubbed his arm again. "After you make your rounds would you save a dance for me?" He asked sheepishly. Now he was avoiding his brother's darker eyes.

    "Speech."

  • Elizabeth smiled as he looked at her fully for the first time and said, "It's perfectly okay to be impatient. Anyway, It's nice to meet you even if it's earlier than expected." She gave him another friendly smile as he spoke. "It's fine Edward, It's still your families party. And you're doing a fine job a smiling and talking to guests since I am a guest myself. No need to be humble." She added, trying to make him more comfortable than he seemed. "Will is definitely good at socializing, so I might ask for some tips on it later." She laughed looking over at Will.

When she looked back to Edward, she noticed that his face was suddenly bright red and he looked a little nervous. Why was he so flustered all of a sudden. The answer came when he asked to dance with her. She felt a blush creeping up her face and murmured, "I'd like that, Edward. Especially if you're as good of a dancer as Will said." She smiled and added, "I promise once I get more acquainted with the last sibling of yours, I'll gladly come find you." Her emerald eyes gazed up at him before glancing toward Fitzwilliam. She felt a little torn between the leaving Will to be with Edward. But maybe this could be a chance at making a few friends.

"Do not over appraise me brother I do not want to disappoint her." He said teasing him softly before turning to look at Elizabeth seeming to be gaining some confidence, steadily at least. The young man felt a wave of relief washed over him when she agreed to dance with him. He didn't want to intrude on his brother's time with the young lady. "You flatter me. I hope you enjoy meeting our family." He smiled brightly bowing to her. "I look forward to it." He said softly nodding to his brother.

Giving her one last look before nodding a farewell to his brother. Walking away before he said anything he would regret he walked to his sisters smiling brightly to the women who were with them.

It was good to see his brother trying to be social. "It takes time to reach the social level of mastery I have achieved." He joked before chuckling signally he was not at all serious. "If you need a social guide then I am more then happy to help." He offered turning his attention to locating the last of his siblings. Of course it wasn't hard to spot the young man since he was almost the spitting image of Will.

"Would you like to meet the last of our little gang?" He asked playfully leading the way to the last of the Bennett children. He was talking with some of his old friends laughing and joking. "Brandon I am introducing Elizabeth Ermengarde around." He explained easily getting his brother's attention. Stepping away from the crowd the young man smiled politely and bowed before taking her hand and kissing. "It is very lovely to meet you Elizabeth. I can see why my brother has taken it upon himself to introduce you around. All the same I am glad to meet you." The younger brother said clearly poking fun at his older brother.

    "Speech."

  • "Don't worry, Edward. You can't do worse than me. The only reason your brother can walk after dancing with me is because it was a slow dance." She joked with a small laugh. Elizabeth may had appear graceful looking but slow dances were easier than the faster dances. Not to mention, the heels she was wearing made it a bit harder when she was hardly use to them just when she was walking. "Ok Edward, have a nice evening until I come back." Elizabeth gave him one last curtsy before following after Will. "I might need a social guide.. My grandmother is great and all but it's not very helpful." She admitted looking over at him with a sheepish grin.

"The last one huh..?" She asked as she looked to were he was looking. "Will... You look exactly like him!" She gasped in a hushed tone looking up at him as they approached. She quickly straightened up and put on a polite smile as Fitzwilliam called out to his brother. "Hello." She said as he turned around and curtsied. She blushed as her hand was kissed by the young man. It's happened before and she really couldn't get used to that as well. "It's nice to meet you as well, Brandon. You're the last of the Bennett siblings that I've met tonight." Elizabeth said with a polite smile, though still blushing a bit.

Will couldn't help but, laugh at her observation that they looked just a like. Brandon quirked a brow looking to his brother. "Dear brother how could you? I am guessing that you were the first sibling she met? Now I see you wanted her all to yourself and meeting me earlier would have ruined your chances." Wagging his finger Brandon was clearly teasing his brother. "So serious brother lighten up." He said with a dismissive wave of his hand to look back at Elizabeth. "Well now that you have made all our acquaintances tell me truthfully which sibling you prefer. I promise I will not be offended or tell the others." He swore with a soft smile.

Will shook his head at his brother. He loved Brandon and it helped that they looked like copies of the same painting with only very minor changes. "I would not answer he will tease you with it endlessly." Fitzwiliam assured earning himself a light punch on the arm from his younger brother. "You tarnish my good name in front of a young lady I have only now had the pleasure of meeting." Brandon insisted shaking his head softly at his older brother. Brandon was clearly very playful and loved making fun of his older brother who just smiled and played along with it.

    "Speech."

  • Elizabeth smiled and laughed a little as she watched the two siblings. It was obvious that Brandon likes teasing his older brother and they had a good relationship with each other. She always wanted a sibling and seeing the two together almost made her wish her parents had another child. Though she was still a little flustered as she was apart of the teasing. She looked up and got a bit more flustered at the question. How could she choose a favorite when she just met the people? Besides depending on who she said, Brandon could easily tease her and possibly Will. She smiled a bit in relief as Will gave her a small warning and advised not to answer. But she decided to give a vague answer instead. "I won't say my favorite person out of the Bennett siblings but I'll just say I've narrowed it down to six possible candidates." Elizabeth answered with a laugh.

"You all have such different personalities, I don't have a favorite." Elizabeth added with a smile. "Will's a good socializer, Eleanor is kind of smug I think, Lydia is upbeat, Fanny is shy, Edward is a bit shy too, and You're the playful type. It's hard to have a favorite between you all. I like you all especially since you guys are some of the first people I met on my own at a party like this." She laughed with a grin.
