Candle light envelopes the whole room in a hushed and quiet peace. Ideal conversations drift around the room like smoke filling everyone's ears and mouths. It is peaceful and quiet the kind of peaceful that hardly ever existed without hidden strife. At one end of the table sits a young couple gazing fondly into each other's eyes not seeming to notice anything about the world outside of each other's gaze. On the other side is a young couple who seem very frigid to each other sitting an arm's length away while their silverware makes the only noise between them. The young man's gaze keeps drifting across the table. His eyes never leave the happy couple and he seems almost solely consumed with watching their every little move and mannerism. The only thing that delivers him from this trance is a sharp bump from his fiance's elbow. Snapping to he glares at the roast duck laid out before him. Stabbing up a couple bites with his fork the duck tastes like nothing special just another dull boring thing. When he stole a glance back up at the couple his jaw tensed and with all the poise he could muster he excused himself from the evening. Before a face could even turn to acknowledge him his chair flew back and he stalked out of the room leaving a wadded napkin laying on his plate.
Plot
It is the early 1700s in England where young nobles and ladies try to assure themselves a good place in the world. They are drilled from a young age to think only of securing a good job and making good connections. Our story begins with a quite prosperous family, the Bennett family. The head of the house has been blessed with a large brood of very smart and talented children. He has six in total three girls and three boys. The oldest of his children is Muse A, a dashing young man who has caught the eye of many women who see his looks and status as a package deal.Muse A seems very uninterested in the whole social lit scene. That is until he meets the granddaughter of a well off widow who has brought her granddaughter to live with her so she can be groomed to be considered a proper lady. Muse B only recently found out how rich her distant grandmother actually was. Until, now she has been living independently in a quaint little home in the country far away from anything like British higher class society. She is sharped witted and attractive. She has drawn attention to herself and is admired by many men Muse A being one of them. At a dance hosted by the Bennett's Muse A asks Muse B for a dance. During this time they introduce themselves and find out they have a lot of common interests and Muse A finds himself falling for her almost instantly because of how intelligent and engaging she is. There is only two small problems Muse A is engaged, and has been for quite some time. The woman he is engaged to comes from good money and it seems like a good political match but, they have little love for each other. The other problem being that is younger brother Muse C has fallen in love with Muse B as well. Muse A decides in that moment to introduce the two and let his brother be happy. Muse C and Muse B hit it off as well. Muse B and C even begin to court one another and there is much talk of them soon becoming engaged. All the while Muse A continues to try and steer clear of both of them. He still has deep feelings for Muse B and doesn't want to ruin his brother's happiness. Still, Muse A and B always seems to find themselves alone together and it is becoming harder and harder to look past the fact they both still have feelings for each other.
(This is meant to be a plot about two brothers both wanting the same woman. The younger brother has no idea that his older brother is in love with the same girl. I got this idea from reading Jane Austen so much. I would be Muse A and C who would both have their own ways of winning Muse B's affection. We could develop the plot further and see what will happen, she can end up choosing either brother or none at all)
I'm sorry if the plot is a little confusing I just really liked it and wanted to make a thread for it. The plot is fairly basic but, we can make things more complicated if we want to. All I need is a picture and a name and we can start. It will start at the ball where Muse B will met Muse A and then later on in the night Muse C. Hope you enjoy :)
*:・゚✦ FITZWILLIAM BENNETT
—— * I'm looking for a mind work:・゚✦
It had begun the Bennett's annual ball that had every young woman from the nearby estates giddy. Anyone who received an invitation was considered to be of great importance afterwards. It was right before the London social season and provided a grand opportunity for young men and women to rub elbows before being thrown into the whirlwind of parties and social gatherings that happened in London. As the guests started to arrive promptly at 6 o' clock the Bennett children were all lined up on display in their finest clothing. At the head of the line was one Fitzwilliam Bennett, the oldest of the children and certain to come into a great fortune when his father died. As guests arrived Fitzwilliam talked pleasantly with several of them not remembering a single word that was said to him afterwards. It all went by in such a blur. Still, as the last of the punctual guests arrived the children were released to enjoy the festivities. Floating along the edge of the dance floor he watched his sister's disappear in a giggling frenzy. His younger brother had disappeared as well going to find his hunting buddies.
Letting out a labored sigh he stood at the fringe of people trying to keep away from anyone's attention. Normally Clementine would have her hands wrapped around his arm stirring him around the dance floor and instructing him who to to speak with and who to avoid. He did not miss her one bit and thought it was an act of God above that she had come down with a fever the night before, thus unable to attend the ball. Her sisters came in her stead sending their deepest regrets all while smiling and in awe over the people there. The band was playing a lively waltz that seemed to match the atmosphere that seemed to be almost electric everyone but, Will seemed happy and jovel. What he wouldn't give to have simple joy. Instead everything perplexed or bored him. Nothing made him feel the thumping in his chest. He was almost unsure if it was there anymore.
His eyes drifted listlessly across the ballroom covered in ribbons and tables decorated in intricate lace. Turning back towards the front entrance his eyes caught a young lady walking in alone. Studying her as she made her way across the room he concluded she could only be the new arrival that now lived with her grandmother. She was an absolutely stunning creature and at once he felt the faint thump come from his chest. Not knowing what pocessed him his legs carried him through the crowd to her side of the ballroom. As he neared his brisk walk slowed down considerably until he strolled over casually and gave a small bow to the young lady. "I know this may seem quite sudden but, I couldn't help but, notice you. Would you care for a dance?" He asked with a polite smile not knowing where this was all coming from.
"Speech."
