Paige blinked after taking a whiff of the fresh dessert. "Hm? Really?" she asked. Did Paige ask because she thought they'd steal her title? Nah. She found it kind of cool there was someone aiming to be the best. Though she herself would admit it wasn't always great. "Did they eat just as much I did?" The only title she seemed to worry about losing was her status as the kid who gorged herself on sweets to the point of almost passing out.

The lady laughed in an almost unbecoming fashion at Paige's rather childish worry. "Don't fret! They haven't quite gotten to that! They looked promising though... Ah, youth... It takes me back to the old times when this place used to be a dream..." Aaaaand there went the lady again, off on another long-winded talk of her past like usual. Not to offend, but it was a very effective way to make someone fall asleep...
-
Paige didn't mean to be rude. Really. But she ended up zoning out just enough before snapping back...And taking a bite out of her cookie. Then zoning out again, then taking another bite.
-
After a good while of absolutely nothing, Cobalt peeked a gaze out the windows of the bakery to notice how dark it was getting. Giving a light tug at Paige's arm, he gave a quick nod off to the window as a warning. They'd probably have to get out and back to where they were before if got too dark out. Hoenn was a strange place once it got dark...
-
Oh! Paige downed the rest of her Lava Cookie. Then, she began reaching into her bag. "Sorry, ma'am. I wasn't paying attention." the blonde produced enough to cover their orders. "Can we have those poffins to go, please?"
-
"Oh! Oh dear oh dear oh dear; Im so sorry!" The old lady said, almost helping the process speed up until Paige and Cobalt were standing outside with what they wanted... Well, minus an extra Poffin that Cobalt snuck out...
-
Treats in hand, Paige decided they should go back to the hotel. And fast, before something happened or someone approached. Couldn't be too careful when you walked Hoenn's streets at night. She, again, took her partner's arm in her own.
-
Okay... This was going to be simple, just walk home as fast as possible and nothing bad'll happen... Cobalt was a bit embarrassed with how Paige insisted on walking home with him arm-in-arm, the way he nibbled at his Poffin an indication as they braved the darkening streets.
Thankfully, nothing crazy happened as they finally made their destination, and a last, quick check around from Cobalt's Aura Detecting Abilities confirmed it for the jackal...
-
Home stretch. Now they just had to make it through the lobby. Easy...Peasy...
"Cobalt, how many people are in there?" Paige asked him. She figured the jackal would be able to tell whether they'd have a hard time sneaking in or not. Just by searching for auras.
-
Cobalt took a moment to focus in at Paige's request; trying to exclusively hone in on Auras of other humans was a specific order, and that required a bit of time... Nonetheless, Cobalt was able to get a number, said number being appropriately small for such a late time...
Cobalt came back to the real world as he held up three digits with his paws... Three people...
-
"Nice!"
The odds were in their favor. Paige led the way inside, going before Cobalt. She decided he could walk without her assistance now. Plus, in case things went south, he'd be able to ward off any obstacles.
-
As soon as Paige let go, Cobalt made sure not to draw too much attention to either himself or his Trainer. They already had enough of trying to avoid the fans and paparazzi (not to offend them) and frankly, he doubted either of them wanted attention in the dead of night...
-
Luck continued to be on Paige's side. The blonde smiled to herself as she successfully made it to the front desk. "I need my room key." she told the worker at the desk. Keeping her voice low enough so that passerby wouldn't hear and look over. She could be easily hidden; Wearing plain clothes rather than her flashy costumes.
-
One look at Paige's voice gave the desk clerk a small smile on his face. Wordlessly he handed the star the key to her room, seeing Paige already a reward in of itself...
Of course, Cobalt was nearby keeping a close eye on Paige. Despite being a lone Pokemon, the jackal did a surprising job of being unsuspecting to the naked eye so as to not attract attention. Since the lone bystander didn't even see him, he was almost free to wander about so much as he kept a low profile...
-
Paige waved the hand holding her keys to signal to Cobalt that the coast was clear. After this, she approached the stairway. Stopping just at the bottom while awaiting her partner. She was confident Cobalt would find his way to her. Again: She believed in the intelligence of Lucarios.
-
With enough stealth to make a Shedinja proud, Cobalt was quick to reappear by Paige's side without raising attention. Now that they were at the staircase, they were essentially home-free from any danger of discovery... The both of them could finally relax for a brief bit, sleep for the night, and then get ready for the next day...
-
The pair wasted no time in heading to their room on the third floor. Paige had changed into her pajamas shortly after arriving. Don't worry; She ducked into the bathroom, so as not to traumatize Cobalt. The blonde sat on her bed in the room, fiddling around with one of her Pokeballs. Cobalt's, to be exact.
"Alright, Cobalt. Ready to call it a night?" she asked.
-
Cobalt nodded softly to himself, though there was a certain atmosphere of melancholy as he gently pressed the button on his Pokeball. Amidst a gentle red glow, Cobalt slowly vanished as he was sent back inside, resting and waiting for the moment Paige would call on him...
-
Rather than putting him with the rest of her party, Paige placed Cobalt's ball on a bedside table. Pretty much keeping him close. Like she always did. "'night, pal." she told the Pokeball. Off went the lamp as she reached over to turn it off. That's when she shut her eyes.
(Cut to: Dream sequence. Memories sort-of play out, only revealing details Paige never remembered)

(do what you must, since Cobalt's not likely to have such a major role unless you say so...)
