She and her littermates were born in the middle of leafbare, one of her sisters dying from the cold. They were mostly raised by their mother while their father barely ever left the tribe's council's room. Rune was very close to her mother and she never left her side. Her mother taught Rune all she knew about herbs and healing, as she was the tribe's healer. Rune was allowed to treat a sickly queen one day but gave her deathberries on accident. As it was law that killing someone resulted in death, her father pleaded with the council leader until she was only exiled.
Rune wandered the rogue lands, helping who she could and running away from the others. It took a good while but she found a gentle looking clearing with a few herbs growing nearby. She immediately made herself a comfortable home and helped anyone who passed by. One tom decided to stay and hunt for her as she's rather horrible at it. They grew to be close friends and he soon told her his name, Single Blade.
