Imagine you are in the world of Eragon or even Lord of the Rings. Only in this world dragons and riders soar through the skies with the commonality of hot air-balloons or helicopters. Humans, Dwarves, and even the occasional elves leave their dwellings to tour the Earth and uncover its rich cultures and hidden, mystical treasures. Though there's actually a name for that here, adventurers.

People who come into the Grey Basset pub only come for one reason, if they are adventurers. All around the pub large, muscular men and women with scowling faces and scarred bodies sit drinking heavy liquor and eyeing their peers. Not one being here does not carry a weapon, and likely not one being here hadn't faced their fair share of combat. Up on the wall hangs an adorned wooden message board plastered with yellowing requisition posters. This iss the place where adventures start, and this is the place where we start.

Open to playing a male or female depending on your preference. Feel free to jump in whenever you want. It's first come first serve. :)

  • A tall slender women got off her horse mount that she had borrowed for her short trip to this pub. She dusted her clothes off. Her white hair shined in the light of the candles. A small tiny dragon came onto her shoulder. It looked around looking somewhat tired. It slept in the warmth of her hair. She walked into the pub. She didn't look like a fighter. She was of course. She had stayed in a inn where all her armour and weapons were. Her dagger was under the dress she was wearing. She hated to wear a dress but her other clothes were a mess. She walked up to the board and looked a the posters all the adventures. The dragon looked around.

  • Ooc: Hello. :) Is it okay if I play a girl?

    Ic:

Mia threw open the door to the pub and couldn't help but wrinkle her nose at the foul smells that suddenly permeated her senses. Her long red hair was slung over her shoulders, falling like waterfalls over her collarbone. Her bright blue eyes danced with flashes of other striking colors, ever changing. She was new to adventuring now, and her longsword was slung across her back awkwardly. The lighting in the room was dim, however, and she took a second to adjust to the sudden change from the sunny weather outside. As her eyes squinted open, they fell upon a head of long, wavy white hair and pointed, elven ears. The woman was stunning, and even more intriguing was the toy green dragon perched on her shoulder like a parrot. Mia realized her mouth was hanging open and she snapped it shut. She had come here to find an adventure to go on and maybe even a team to join, but looking around all the other patrons of the Grey Basset they looked very unapproachable. Finally, unsure of herself, she walked across the room and tapped on the white haired woman's shoulder. "Excuse me?" she spoke loudly over the cacophony from the bar.

    Mia
  • Ooc: Hi :) Defiantly.

The women turned her head and looked down at the red head woman. "Yes?" the women asked in a soft voice. Desdemona never spoke loudly. But it was loud enough for the women to hear. Spitz looked at the women and puffed his chest growling trying to be scary. Desdemona ignored this her blue eyes shone in the light. She brushed some hair out of her face her ears showing more.

  • Mia smiled, noticing the scar across the elf's beautiful blue eye and deciding not to bring it up. Somehow it only increased her beauty. Smiling, she gestured at the papered poster board.

"I noticed you were looking at the board," she said. "My name's Mia, and I'm pretty new at this. I was wondering if you could help me get started... somehow." She blushed and looked down. "I've kind of never done this before." She couldn't help her eyes as they drifted back to the elven woman's, the question lingering in them.

  • Desdemona raised an eyebrow. She never really met humans before. She was more of a loner. She smiled softly which was rare for her. "Yes I was looking at the board. My name is Desdemona or Des for short" she looked back at the board saying "I'll help you get started" she let out a soft chuckle noticing the blushing. "It's fine. I'll be glad to help" she looked at Mia's eyes smiling. Spitz puffed his scale cheeks and coughed letting out some smoke. He growled. "This is Spitz"

  • Mia smiled down at Desmonda's small dragon companion and resisted an urge to stick a hand out to pet him. He was just so adorable with his little claws and tail. She laughed softly and pulled her hair across her shoulder. "It's very nice to meet you, Des, and you too, Spitz," she said. "Whatever I need to do, just let me know. I know how to fight, but I get lost in the details sometimes." She passed her eyes over the board of posters. Nothing stood out to her. With a more somber expression, she turned back to Desmonda. "How long have you been an adventurer, by the way?"

  • Spitz sneezed and flapped his wings. He looked around. Desdemona nodded. "I've been adventuring for over 50 years. Elves as you know live a long time so I'm pretty old." She grabed a paper and pulled it off. "How about we start small.Bandits" she looked at Mia saying. "Yay or nay?" her eyes looked into Mia's. Her face usally had no expression so some people were intimidated by her.

  • Mia blinked, feeling as if an elephant had just barged into the room and she had been the only one to notice. Had she heard that right? Desmonda was over 50 years old? She had known that elves lived long lives, but for her to be over 50. Mia was blown away.

The poster displayed a series of black and white drawing of men and women in bandit gear along with a list of bounties and locations. Mia found herself again and blinked away the sudden bombshell that had been dropped on her. Desmonda's eyes were flashing in the dim light of the bar. Somehow, like a cat's eyes, they glowed in the shadows. Mia almost felt a little bit intimidated by the gravity of this person. In her mind she saw the elf raising her foot and flattening a man into the ground not unlike a giant. It was attractive and scary at the same time.

"Yeah," she finally responded. "I guess I'm in then. I have nowhere else to go." She pursed her lips then blurted out something from the surface of her mind. "By the way, for a 50 year old you look good."

  • Desdemona watched the girl. She saw humans as children. A grown man was a boy to her. Woman. Girl. She chuckled softly when Mia responded. She put the letter away saying "I'm at the inn near by if you don't have anywhere to stay you can stay in my room I have a way of getting cheaper rooms" all she had to do was raise an eyebrow when the inn keeper said a price too high and it magically lowered. She then raised her eyebrows when mia said she looked good. Des chuckled saying "Thank you." Spitz watched bored. His threw his head back.

  • Mia was blushing hard in her mind. She felt so incredibly stupid for blurting something like that out. 'You look good for a 50 year old?' Was she a teenager again? She looked away from Desmonda and nodded her head. "If you really don't mind," she said. "I don't mean to impose on you, it's just..." She let her words trail off. For some reason, she got the feeling Spitz was starting not to like her.

  • Desdemona watched. "It's just dot dot dot" Des said. She looked down at the girl. "If you don't want to thats fine. I mean we're going to be partners might as well start being friends and share things I suppose" Des didn't have many friends might as start trying to be friendly. Spitz didn't hate anyone. He got bored easily since he wasn't allowed to fly in public. He was more mad at Des for being so rude. Spitz made a little smoke ball and bounced it with his nose.

  • Mia felt relief wash over her. Desmonda was right. They were going to be partners, and that word changed her point of view in an instant. Partners.

"Yea." Mia chuckled and tried to relax. "You're right, I'm just being awkward, and I apologize for hesitating. If you'd let me stick by your side, I'd be really grateful to have someone to show me the ropes, especially someone who's so experienced." She smiled and tried to straighten up. Be more confident, Mia, she thought. This is your one chance. You wanted this more than anything. Nothing has changed.

Meanwhile Spitz's smoke ball was hypnotizing people at the bar. Some drunkards were staring and pointing.

  • Desdemona chuckled. "You're not awkward you're young. Trust me. When I was young. I was 25. Awkward. My partner taught me the ropes. I literally tripped on a rope and almost got killed. But trust me kid. You'll get there" she patted Mia's arm softly. She then saw people staring. Spitz caught the smoke ball and coughed on it. He looked at Everyone and hid in Des hair.

  • Mia chuckled and stopped when she saw Desmonda's look. People around were starting to stare now. It wasn't everyday that a white haired elf with a toy dragon walked into the Grey Basset, and she wasn't the only one that stood out. Mia was used to being stared at for her strange eye color. "We should get going," she muttered to Des.

  • Des muttered in Elvish and looked down at Mia. "Yes we should" She began to walk to her horse. Spitz popped his head out of Des' hair and let out a roar and blew a small ball of fire out. Des walked to her horse and began to saddle it.

  • Mia followed Desmonda out of the bar and watched her walk up to a nearby horse as if to board it. She slowed down and waited until her new partner was sat in the saddle. Since Mia didn't have a horse of her own she would have to follow behind on foot, but an image flashed through her mind of riding behind Desmonda, her arms wrapped around her and swaying in the saddle. It was too much after only just meeting.

"how far away is your inn?" she asked, trying to banish the image from her head.

  • "Far" Desdemona said. SHe looked at Mia. "You don't have a horse" Desdemona sat more up. "Come on" she patted behind her. She wanst going to let her new friend, Partner. Walk. How ridiculous. Spitz flew down on top of the horses head. He held onto the ears with his two front paws that were attached to his wings.

  • Mia tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and bit her lower lip. "Well, if you say so," she said. She walk up to the horse and slowly climbed up its back. Once there, she swung one long leg over the back of the saddle and rested herself as close to the edge as possible. She gripped the horse's sides with her knees but then had no place for her hands, so awkwardly she tried to find a handhold or something. Finally giving up, she placed her hands gently on Desmonda's back and smiled a little nervously. "If I'd known this would happen I would've bought a horse," she joked. A shy laugh tinged her words.

  • Des watched her climb on. She pulled her closer and made her wrap her arms around her waist. She patted her hands saying "Don't move them." she then chuckled. "well we can't all see into the future. She clicked her tongue. The horse neighed and began to trot. Spitz held onto the ears and his wings caught air. So he was 'flying'
