    "Mom, where's my bag?" It was the last day of school and Cecilia was late, as usual. "I think it's on the staircase honey." Her mother replied, grabbing the car keys and her purse. Cecilia headed for the stairs in a mad dash, and sure enough, her yellow Jansport backpack was sitting there. She quickly grabbed it and flung it over her shoulders. She turned to look at her mother who was running to the door. Cecilia walked out followed by her frazzled looking mother. It was a nice day outside, blue skies with the occasional white cloud. Cecilia headed down the winding path that lead to her moms white, two door, Jeep wrangler. "I wish the top was down, it's such a nice day outside." said Cecilia as her mom unlocked the car. "Yeah, It'll be down when I pick you up." said her mom as they both entered the warm car. Cecilia's mother put the keys in the ignition and turned. The car rumbled and they were off.

    During the car ride Cecilia noticed something very strange, there were owls, at least five, flying in the air. Each of which had a small scroll of paper either tied to their leg or clamped in their beak. She was confused as to why they were out during the day rather than at night, seeing as they are nocturnal. She was also curious as to what the roll of paper was, and where they where going. She sat there for a moment thinking, she figured that they are most likely delivering those somewhere, but where, and why owls, why not just mail it? "Mom, do people still send mail by birds, specifically owls? Is it even legal?" Cecilia asked as she watched the owls go into separate directions, one of which was heading back towards her neighborhood.

    There was no answer from her mother for a bit, Cecilia looked over and saw that she looked tense and worried. "What kind of question is that, there's no such thing as owl mail!" Yelled her mother quickly. Cecilia didn't understand, why was she so tense about it, it's just a few owls with letters after all, if anything, it was pretty cool. Cecilia never said anything for the rest of the ride but she saw two more owls in the sky. When they reached the school Cecilia got out and before she closed the door her mother stopped it. "Listen, I'm sorry for yelling, but it's just nonsense and you should just forget what you think you saw." Cecilia instantly flared up, you think you saw? She knew what she saw and her mother is just telling her to forget about it! Cecilia, without another word slammed the car door and marched up to the school.

    "She's late." Mumbled Cecilia, as she stood outside the deserted schools front doors. It was hot and she hadn't exactly worn warm weather material, grey joggers and a black t-shirt. She was hot and becoming annoyed, she pulled out her phone from her backpack and turned it on. A friendly picture of her two bunnies, dog, guinea pig, and axolotl greeted her as she unlocked her phone. Cecilia had always been very keen on animals and has quite a few strange ones herself. 'Where are you, I'm outside the school and you're not!' After she sent her mother the text a reply almost instantly popped up, as if she had been texting at the same time as Cecilia. 'Cecilia, honey, I'm sorry I'm late, im leaving now I just had to take care of something. Xoxo' After a bit, her mother pulled up to the front of the school and she hopped in. You forgot to put the top down." Said Cecilia in a joking voice. "I know, sorry. Well let's get home." Her mother seemed quite tense and had a worried expression as if something bad was about to happen. Cecilia pondered on it but then thought it best to leave it alone, she buckled her seatbelt and they were off.

    When they arrived Cecilia got out of the car, leaving her mother behind. When she reached the front door she noticed a roll of paper that looked like the type the owls from earlier were carrying. She picked it up and looked at the front and was shocked to see her name and address scribbled in green ink on the front. It even had the exact room she was located in, the back-most bedroom. Not knowing whether it was a joke or not she quickly rolled it up and stuffed it into her back pocket. Her mother came up to the door and unlocked it and together they went inside.

    Cecilia immediately headed up to her room saying she needed to check on her animals to her confused mother, which wasn't a lie. she was greeted with squeaks from her fat, brown and black guinea pig, Angela. She had to jump out of the way because she almost stepped on her two bunnies, Albus and Harry, who were running around her trying to greet her. Even her axolotl swam to the front of its tank and gave her the classic derpy smile that she thought was the cutest. "Hey guys! Albus, Harry move out of the way- Hi Angela, shhh." this was the normal routine for entering the room, it wasnt until she pet her bunnies and her guinea pig that the commotion had stopped. Cecilia sat on her bed and looked at the envelope in her hand, contemplating on who had sent it and how they knew what room she lived. Reluctantly she turned it over and noticed the red wax sealing, pulling the envelope closer she could make out the words Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. "Hogwarts? Witchcraft and wizardry? Is this some type of joke?" She however opened the envelope and pulled out two pieces of paper in black ink.     Dear Mr/Ms. [Surname],We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.Term begins on 1 September. We await your owl by no later than 31 July.Yours sincerely,

    She read the letter over and over again very carefully, is this someones idea of a joke, she thought. but then again, how did they know were she sleeps?
