Melanie watches him reconnect his arm with curiosity before looking to Josh and his Grandfather.
She blinked.
"I suppose that we have a lot to explain." She said in a rather monotone manner.
Melanie watches him reconnect his arm with curiosity before looking to Josh and his Grandfather.
She blinked.
"I suppose that we have a lot to explain." She said in a rather monotone manner.
"W-WHAT?!" The grandfather went, clambering back in caution.
Josh just remained silent.
"D-Did it... Did that just happen?"
Melanie looked to Adrian before looking back to the Grandfather.
She then walked towards him and gently took his hands.
"There is a lot we need to explain, so please try to remain calm." She said kindly, leading him inside and sitting him down at the table.
Josh and his grandfather had gone very pale at this point, and felt as if they were mortified by what they had just seen. Of course, Josh was better as he knew OF their abilities. But.. Seeing someone's limb practically fly off? Not EXACTLY something you could ever get used to.
Adrian began to roll his eyes as he walked inside, taking a seat beside Melanie soon after.
Melanie crossed her arms on the table.
“Do you remember the old laboratory in your hometown Josh?” She questioned, not expecting an answer.
“Well, Adrian and I were trapped there for a couple years, and experimented on.”
She lifted up her hand and dark shadows began to rise from her palm.
“Hence Adrian’s ability to attack with his limbs and my ability to attack with shadows and shapeshift.”
The grandfather turned very very serious.
"I.. See." Josh stated and turned his head to his grandfather. "Didn't you say to me that you were one of-"
"One of the men who had to go inside and check up on everything, despite being against it? Yes..." His grandfather finished with a look of pure guilt. "But of course I couldn't tell anyone as they held me against it."
Josh's eyes widened and he glanced back to the two acquaintances he met. "So.. I can understand Melanie's. Being as though I have seen it. However.. I don't understand how Adrian's works. I mean, he could quite literally just break himself apart and what..?"
"Build myself back together." Adrian shrugged. "Think of me as your modern day zombie with common sense, and a hunger for normal food." He sighed. "My limbs, bones, and muscles can all be used to my advantage in battle. And although I don't usually feel pain at all, there are specific things that can make me feel pain. But I'll leave that for you to think upon."
Melanie looked to the grandfather, with slight confusion.
The grandfather noticed and looked to the girl.
"I was someone who had to go into those same labs and monitor the systems in there. But they held me close, being unable to say anything about what I see..
I am so... so sorry about what you had to endure.."
Melanie’s headed looked to the table.
“It’s not your fault.” She said. “Besides, they’re all dead anyway.”
The two people paused but knew that was bound to have been the case.
"I see.. Very well then... Some were good friends, despite the circumstances. But I suppose.. I cannot change that." The man stated before giving a small smile.
Melanie looked up to the grandfather, remorse in her eyes.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t know.”
She stood up and walked to him, gently hugging him.
"It's no problem. No need to apologise. They did horrible things to you. Horrible, horrible things...." The man replied, hugging back softly like the warm father figure he is.
Due to his warmth, Melanie didn’t want to let go.
Hugging him seemed somewhat familiar.
The male soon eventually let go despite that, and smiled at the girl and Adrian. "Why not all relax for the time being and.. Hm. Perhaps you can go watch a movie or something as a three."
Melanie was sad that she had to let go, so she walked to Josh and hugged him Instead.
She couldn’t remember the last time she watched a movie.
She nodded enthusiastically.
Josh felt himself heat up slightly but luckily no blush could be seen. He wasn't expecting to be hugged, but soon stood from the chair and hugged her back.
"I'll go figure it out and get a movie on." Adrian murmured as he walked past.
Melanie continued hugging Josh.
He was warm and comfortable, and she was content.
Adrian couldn't help but notice and rolled his eyes as he was able to find an action movie with... A rather loud introduction, making Josh jump moments after before noticing the movie was on.
"C'mon. Otherwise you are gonna miss it."
Reluctantly, Melanie let Josh go and walked over to the sofa.
She perched herself in the middle, her focus now on the screen.
Josh wandered over slowly and seated himself down, watching the movie with the other two...
Was Adrian... Not happy with her hugging him?
