Melanie had briefly woken up to the smell of food, and quickly morphed into a human, running downstairs for food.
When she sat down, she thanked the old man for the food and started eating.
Josh was glad to see her more awake and continued eating with Adrian alongside.
"Make sure to say hello to grandma Josh.. She would like to see you."
Josh glanced up from his food and nodded. "I will."
Melanie listened in but continued to eat her food.
She was eager to meet his grandma.
Not long afterwards, the three males had finished their food alongside Melanie before placing the dishes away in a dishwasher. All while thanking the old man for the wonderfully made food.
"It is no problem. I have to make sure you eat well whilst you're here.."
Josh smiled and stated that he was going to visit Grandma now, only to then begin to head on up the stairs.
Melanie followed him up.
But before he went into her room, she asked if she could come too.
Adrian decided to stay downstairs for the sake that he wanted to keep an eye on things.
Josh meanwhile smiled. "Of course."
Opening the door, a large, but neat room was revealed. With the curtains shut, but the lamps on either side of the bed on. Only to give the room a rather warm, and caring atmosphere. Signs of this woman's past can be seen with the multiple picture frames, toys, and various ornaments brought from all kinds of places. Some Josh wouldn't believe she went to if she told him.
That was if she could.
For the woman remaining in her bed facing the door only gave a weak but gentle smile as she recognised Josh, her grandson. Her eyes had went from being incredibly dull to being soft and loving as she made the recognition.
Her hand raised itself towards him, but shook like an abandoned leaf in winter before Josh came beside the bed and took her hand.
"Hello Grandma... I'm here to stay a bit. And to see you of course." Josh said gently.
The grandma nodded and turned to face the girl, as if to ask who she was.
"This is Melanie Grandma. A friend of mine you see."
Melanie slowly walked over to the other side of the bed before gently sitting down next to her.
"H-Hello." She said gently.
"She doesn't necessarily speak nowadays." Josh stated as the woman turned her head and smiled over at the girl. She made a weak but gentle movement of her hand. Signing it seemed.
Josh spoke for her. "She asked if you were a good friend of mine."
Melanie's eyebrows perked up at the sign language.
Now this was something she knew.
She signed back to the lady.
"We were friends in school." She signed, making smooth and beautiful movements with her hands.
Josh raised an eyebrow and just watched with a small smile of amazement.
"I see... I see... It is good to know he has someone to trust..." The lady signed back. "I can no longer go out on trips with him and my husband... It is really a shame.."
Melanie nodded before continuing to sign to her.
"Ah yes, I see. That must be very difficult for you." She signed somewhat sadly. "But don’t worry! I can help find some entertainment for you."
"That would be lovely dear, but sometimes a lovely conversation is all I need sometimes." The lady signed back. Josh only watched with a warm smile. A real smile.
Melanie nodded in understanding.
“I see.” She signed back.
"So... Where are you from?" The lady signed.
When she asked the question, Melanie seemed to freeze.
What could she say? That she was from a lab?
Not really.
She gulped deeply.
"T-The same place as your grandson." She signed.
"Ah, I seeee..." The woman signed and smiled. "I am very happy he has a good friend like you."
Melanie smiled at the lady.
"And I’m happy to have a friend like him." She signed back, smiling towards Josh.
Josh smiled. And the lady made a movement that seemed as though she was giggling.
"You two are very sweet children. I appreciate you seeing me."
Melanie blushed lightly and looked away, before signing.
"Thank you..."
The lady glanced back down to her hands in thought for a moment.
Josh glanced over to Melanie.
"Maybe we should leave grandma to rest."
