  • Dawning of a New World

    When the world fell to ruin after years of chemical and nuclear warfare, only select humans were able to flee to the sky or to underground bunkers. Those with wealth and power and knowledge were saved from the horrors of the planet they had destroyed. Those who had no influence died in the toxic fumes and burning oceans left behind, or at least, that was what was expected to happen. After hundreds of years, the planet has healed itself and it's time to go back and claim the land, although initial scout reports suggest that a small population, no more than a few thousand, has survived of the human race. They are living in what is left of the Amazon Rainforest, one of the places which was partially shielded from the war and the exact place those coming back to earth are hoping to colonize.

    Welcome to Earth. Whether you arrived here from the stars or from deep within the planet's core makes no difference. You are a pioneer in the land of your forefathers. You have been taught all we know about this changed planet and now it is your job to go an make discoveries. You are the front line of the human race and you are going to take back our planet. Good luck.

    {You play as one of the humans coming back to the old world, hoping to learn and explore. You have trained your whole life for this, from hand-to-hand combat to tracking to diplomacy. Your mission is to learn about the human population still surviving on earth, and either take them peacefully or by force. You have been taught the native languages of the area from before the war, but communication is still expected to be an issue. Their language will have evolved slightly in the time they spent on earth. Although you are authorized to kill the survivors if they seem violent, the information they have on the planet is considered incredibly valuable and death is not preferable. I will play as one of the survivors. Several hundred years is not time enough to forget being left behind and to say the survivors are still bitter would be a huge understatement.}

  • You are welcome to make a form if you wish, throw out any plot details you'd like, or simply jump in! The only requierment I have for this is at least three sentances per post.

  • ((Wonderful! I'll make a short form for my character and hop right in!))

    Character form:

    ||Kay Colburn||

    Kay had arrived a night ago on the old world, she had set up camp with the others. Her tent was farther away, she felt as though the others didn't share her enthusiasm about the old world as she did. None of them seemed to be documenting the wildlife they were surrounded by like Kay was. She was simply fascinated by it. It was beautiful. Unlike anything Kay had ever seen before. Of course Kay read plenty of books, but the pictures in the books held no comparison to the real thing. So far, everything was going smoothly on the trip. Kay's sketchbook filled with notes and sketches of the surroundings was quickly filling up. The day had started off fairly normal. Kay did not go with the morning patrol, she instead wanted to stay behind and chart her own course. Of course, this didn't go well with her commander, but let her stay behind anyway. Kay was the only one left at the camp. She was sitting in the grass, sketching a picture of small butterfly that was lazily perched on a flower. Kay bit her lip as she sketched, not wanting to scare the interesting and beautiful creature off.

  • ~ Kaibhse ~

    The air was acrid and stale, something Kaibhse had only expierenced one other time in her life, and the closer she got to it's source, the more excited she became. With almost unmatched stealth, she crept into the camp, keeping a careful eye on the surrounding area. It was quiet and strange. She ran her hands along the fabric of the tents, standing up when she decided no one was home. Kaibhse wandered, less carefully now, through the rows of tents, glancing in a few, but mostly taking it all in.

  • ||Kay Colburn||

    The butterfly flitted off as a rustling in the grass and tents scared the delicate creature away. Kay sighed, but was pleased with her sketch. She took down a couple of quick notes before closing the book and tucking it away in a brown bag that was slung over her shoulder. She assumed the noise was coming from one of her expedition members. So she stood as as she turned she called out teasingly, "Back so soon? Or did you just forget something?" Kay froze in her place when she saw the strange greyish humanoid with dark hair casually peering and exploring the campground. Kay studied her for a moment, she was taller than Kay, but skinnier. She had grayish skin compared to Kay's olive colored skin and her eyes were an intense vibrant green. Kay reached for the pistol in the holster that was attached to her hip but Kay stopped. This person didn't seem threatening. Kay let out a small breath, humans weren't supposed to be living on Earth. They were supposed to have died. She let her hand fall to her side and said in a small voice, "Hello?"

  • ~ Kaibhse ~

    She froze as another voice rang out. The language was familiar, similar to her own, but it was sharp and clinical sounding. Her hand darted to the ground, grabbing a stone, and she quickly whipped around to face Kay. Kaibhse studied the other girl with wide eyes. She had never seen another creature that was so close to herself and yet not one of her own people, not to mention, one that spoke.

    Stories were passed down from before the wars, about a prosperous and technological life, about people that covered the surface of the planet, and then how they fled. As far as she knew, as far as anybody knew, they were the only ones left on the planet. Kaibhse tilted her head and kept staring, though she made no attempt to throw the rock, she kept hold of it. "You are . . . Different."

  • ||Kay Colburn||

    Kay was mesmerized and in awe she wondered aloud, "You... You speak English?" She noticed the stone the other girl was holding and held up her hands to show that she was no threat. "I-I don't want to hurt you," Kay said gently. She was in utter amazement. Humans, or at least creatures that resembled humans, were not supposed to be here. This changed the expedition entirely. "Are you..? Were you born here? On Earth?" Kay asked tentatively, she was eager to learn more about this creature, this person. Who was she? Where did she come from? How did she survive? The questions raced around in Kay's head but she wanted to take things slow. She didn't want to scare the other girl away.

  • ~ Kaibhse ~

    Kaibhse stayed where she was, not taking her eyes from the other girl, but listening intently for the sounds of others. The only other thing she had found that seemed even remotely similar to this type of technology, had been broken and worn. It was abandoned, much like the planet had been.

    She registered the questions, the phrasing took a few moments to fully comprehend, but she understood. She did not, however, answer them. "You left. You ran. Why are you back?" She had assumed, as had most people still on earth, that those who had fled to the stars or below the surface were dead or gone or not coming back. Hundreds of years had not erased what was left of the war, only hid it.

  • ||Kay Colburn||

    "I ran?" Kay wondered aloud, trying to process what the strange girl was saying. Then she finally understood. "Oh, you mean... Well. No not really. I didn't run. My grandparent's did. This is my first time to Earth. So really, I didn't come back. All the original people who left are too old or dead to come back." Kay explained to the strange girl. She crossed her arms and frowned. "We wanted to see what was left of the old world," then she added, "You are not answering my questions. Were you born here on Earth?" Kay titled her head to match the girl's and let a small grin appear on her lips.

  • ~ Kaibhse ~

    Kaibhse began to relax. The camp seemed to be mostly empty, save for this girl and she didn't seem threatening. She said she wasn't going to do anything, but Kaibhse wasn't quite sure how to take that. Things didn't really try to tell you if they would attack or not.

    She bit her lip, debating whether or not to answer, but it was only fair. "Yes. We- my people never left." It was passive agressive, but not intentionally. She wanted more information. Exploration couldn't be the only reason they were back.

  • ||Kay Colburn||

    Kay let out a small breath. "So some humans did survive. Everyone else, what I was told, was that all humans on Earth were dead," Kay sighed. She furrowed her brow in confusion. Did the head of the expedition team know this? Is this really why they came back to Earth? Kay couldn't be sure. "All I know is that my expedition team is here to explore the old world, record and document the life that exists, leave and compare it to the data that we already have back on the ships. I... I don't know much other than that." She could see the curiosity on the girl. Kay thought for a moment. "Could you take me? Back to your people?" Kay asked gingerly and smiled shyly at the girl, "I'd very much like to meet them."

  • ~ Kaibhse ~

    Kaibhse took a shaky step backwards and frowned. "No . . . You can't-" She glanced around the camp again, counting the number of tents. This woman didn't know they were here, but did some else? She was kind enough, but would the rest of her expedition be? If they were already exploring the jungle, they could be on her village in a few short moments. She looked back at the girl, "How many are you?"

  • ||Kay Colburn||

    Kay, disappointed, nodded in understanding. Then she shrugged, "20? Maybe? I really don't know. 20 at least. I've only met a few of them," Kay said guiltily. Kay didn't know how the others would react if they saw this girl here. Living proof that humans survived here. That humans had been living here all along and were... left behind. Abandoned. Left for dead. Kay couldn't imagine what that would have felt like. Incredibly painful, Kay thought. What would they do to the girl if the rest of the team saw her here? Would they kill her? Capture her? Imprison her? Kay wrung her hands together. "Look, maybe you shouldn't be here," Kay said finally, "I won't hurt you, but I can't promise anything about the others..."

  • ~ Kaibhse ~

    Her brow furrowed as she took another step backwards, her mind racing. She let the rock fall back to it's place on the ground. "If they find us, what will they do?" Her voice was soft and careful. She didn't know what their weapons were and if they could fight or run. She had seen the kind of destruction the war weapons could do and she didn't want to endanger her people.

  • ||Kay Colburn||

    Kay sighed and ran her fingers through her hair, she placed her other hand on her hip. She thought for a moment, but it would be best to tell the girl the truth. "Honestly? I don't know." Kay shook her head, partially frustrated that now she thought about it she did not know nearly as much about this trip as she thought she did. She smiled sheepishly at the girl. "My name is Kay, by the way," Kay said gently, "I just thought you'd like to know." She heard the whoops and hollers of some of the team members in the distance, their boots crunching loudly through the foliage. "You need to leave," Kay said and took a few steps towards the girl and saying sternly, "Now."

  • ~ Kaibhse ~

    She nodded slowly, but the echoing laughter made her nervous. She has often heard the celebration that comes after a successful hunt and this want not dissimilar. "I am called Kaibhse." She stated quickly. Quickly, she turned and darted in the oposite direction of the howls, but she didn't stray far. Kaibhse scampered up a tree and hid among the branches, watching the camp from what she deemed a safe distance.

  • ||Kay Colburn||

    Kay's eyes followed to where the strange girl, Kaibhse, disappeared to. She didn't go far, for the better, Kay thought, she wouldn't have gotten far if she had just ran for it. Kay had to admire Kaibhse's climbing skills they were remarkable. The team crashed into the camp, loud and nosy and Kay rolled her eyes. The team was blabbering about how they got great shots at some wildlife, Kay was suddenly afraid that they had been hunting which was prohibited on this trip. However, Kay was much more relieved when they pulled out a camera and started showing Kay pictures. Kay smiled at the pictures and just as quickly as the team had come they left again. After they were far out of earshot Kay looked back up towards the tree. "You can come down now, they are gone," Kay said then realized that the team left the camera with her.

  • ~ Kaibhse ~

    Kaibhse dropped out of the tree, landing on the earth with a soft thud. She stood, slowly, her eyes wide as she glanced around the camp. "What did they hunt?" She asked softly, still not comfortable. She glanced around the camp, looking for the others, "There were no kills."

    Kaibhse tugged unconsciously at her hair. She was nervous, to say the least, but generally confused. She still didn't understand why they came back. Surely, after hundreds of years, they would had developed a better society somewhere else.
