  • Since our last one kind of died I'll this one up and hopefully keep it organized <3

Something I was thinking is we could have 'smaller traditions' and then 'big traditions'. The way it works sounds better in my head, but I'll do my best to put it into words... basically smaller traditions could work anytime, such as crim's idea for the sky lanterns... and maybe something to do with the windchimes in their territory? I love that they're there, but I feel like we could do something more with them? A bigger tradition could be one that's at a set period of time (SunClan's monthly festivals would be an example of this?), with different activities they do for said tradition. This sounds really vague now and I'll probably need to clarify when I have a clearer head, but I think if we spend some time bouncing ideas around, we could come up with something really cool!

edit;; we could possibly even discuss ranks and rank names here, as i saw that pointed out in the 'thoughts on' thread as well !

  • Sits down here

I think a cool idea would be a mandatory thing where joiners each get a windchime to put up, to mark their place in Windclan's ranks. Traditions are nothing if we don't enforce them (exception being religious traditions since not everyone would use those).

    Zephyr or Naseem for leader?

    Anil for deputy

    Windrunner in place of Advisor

    Keyene in place of honorguard

If asked I can provide the meanings behind the names

I love this! I assume we'd also give them the option of adding their own touches to their windchime? Feathers, different colored... whatever the metal things that make up the chime, beads... I'm not sure about that, yet, but I think we should definitely use the base of this either way!

I would love to know the meanings~ I can figure Zephyr and Windrunner, but I'm not sure what the others mean

    But thank you for the rank name suggestions !! (;

  • tracking for now cause i have to get to a doctor's appt so i'm rushing BUT i like zephyr & windrunner - anil & keyene just don't sound as smooth to me? i'm not 100% sure, but i'm suggesting gale for deputy, cause it's very strong wind. so i guess it could also work for leader and things could be switched around but that is a option!!! (':

  • Hey can I just say.. the wind flight is bumping even tho I left OOPS...

Anyways tracking for now, I'll post some things when I have free time !! I really like the chimes idea tho :0

  • playkit: lets worship the trees

maybe like a wind festival thing? i was reading this article on native american traditions and it mentioned this interesting thing that maybe windclan can go off of?:

    Quote

Winds inflate, give strength, motion, and change; they give life to animals, plants, people, mountains, water, stones, and soil. As the primary energy in the universe, wind is creator, life giver, and sustainer. Wind gives direction to living things; they give movement, the ability to think, and the motion to carry out what needs to be done.

so like a festival in the mountains every month or so and give thanks to nature and whatnot

(on a different note) and maybe as a clan wide plot windclan could do something to piss off the wind gods or something and then there's a huge wind storm that could destroy some stuff

  • Naseem = breeze or soft air

Anil = air and the wind

Keyene = man of the Eastern sky, warrior in other languages

all ranks I picked to suggest have something to do with wind or air, with Keyene being almost like symbolism for the Eastern wind, which in greek mythology brought about warmth and rain. Essential things for groups growing crops. Windclan had it's own form of necessities in their high positions for without them in place the clan would crumble into aimless chaos.

  • I would seriously love to see the kite flying festival idea become a tradition if not anything else, tbh. I would LOVE to see this happen.

as for the rank names, im with crim. zephyr & windrunner are pretty cool sounding but im iffy on anil & keyene.

    I agree.

    gale sounds great for deputy!

So far suggestions are Leader - Zephyr, Deputy - Gale, Advisor - Windrunner, then Honorguard - ??

oooh, I like the festival idea!

I'm a little iffy on the wind gods plot,, it seems 'angry gods' has been a plot for a few clans now?

Kite flying festival sounds really fun?? I think we should definitely use it~

  • I really like the festival and windchime ideas! I'll post some other ideas of mine later when I'm not on mobile/vacation.

To be honest, I like the current ranks? It makes WindClan feel like a fairly traditional proclan, which is how I've always seen them in the extended game. But, regardless, when it comes to ranks I have a couple rules of thumb.

One: if (for most people) it requires an explanation to understand its relevance, skip it.

Two: if people will probably misspell it, skip it.

I don't think we necessarily NEED to change leader, deputy, medic, etc. because they're kind of very self-explanatory and fine as is. Having EVERYTHING be super wind-related is, in my opinion, a bit much.

I like Windrunner a lot! Other ideas that kind of go with that could be Breezerunner, Windseeker, Cloudchaser, etc... but, again, using more than one or two of those would definitely be overdoing it.

If I were in your position, here's how I'd personally set it up.

Leader, Deputy, Advisor (or any other synonym/something similar), Windrunners (Honorguards; also could be any of the other deviations I listed above), Gales (Gaurdians; this just kind of sounds like a jr./stepping stone rank to me lmao that's just the vibe I get from Gale)

It definitely gives it a bit more uniqueness and wind-ness but it doesn't do TOO much.

  • mmm!! i actually agree w/ elliot on that (':

leader, deputy & advisor are Common Ranks and it'd make more sense to change the ranks that are WindClan's thing (aka guardian & honorguard).

  • crim and elliot actually make very good points. thank you for bringing this up.

my biggest concernbefore (I was kind of afraid to voice it before) was that a lot of the names just... didn't stick with me and I don't think I would have remembered them.

so narrowing it down to only two rank names changing helps me out a lot. and I love the names chosen bc theyre both easy to remember and associate with the theme.

  • I get that. I'm just trying to pull suggestions from everyone. If we did end up changing the names, we have the alternatives to it. Some people like the idea of having a different name for a rank that literally every clan has (leader&deputy), since it can add some kind of uniqueness. If it ends up more people agree with Elliot, then we won't change it, that's fine with me.
