  • ooc // this is set at riverclans' border near the river!

Flames crashed around her, singing her pelt. Great waves of heat fell onto her body like a horde of angry bees. She ran, a staggering pain coming from one side of her face. She could feel the blood running to meet her desperate to escape paws, but couldn't stop to assess what had happened.

Where were her family? Her clan? What had happened to them? Paperpaw looked around the vast moors, the pain making her cry out into the winds. Her scream carried away into the distance, but her clan wasn't in sight. There was no response.

    -

Days past until the idea that they might have gone to the Riverclan border occured to her. Feeling a spark of hope, the famine starved apprentice staggers her way towards the border. Night crosses over into day and as the sun banks over the moors, Paperpaw stumbles upon her clanmates. Weak from pain and starvation, Paper collapses onto one side.

She needed a drink desperately, so crawls her way to the river bank. Lapping up the water, she stares as the water settles to reveal ... "My eye! Starclan, my eye! I-it's gone!" She wails.

  • Owlpaw had been napping by the river's shore when Paperpaw's cry met her ears. She blinked awake in confusion, looking this way and that. Paperpaw had been missing for several days; Owlpaw had come to the dismal conclusion that her sister may be dead, so why could she hear her? After a moment of panicked searching, the apprentice's gaze finally settled upon her sister. Standing on wobbly legs, Owlpaw rushed to Paper's side and looked her over. "What in Starclan's name happened to you? Where have you been?" She asked, fear filling her ragged voice. Without waiting for a response, Owlpaw began licking the wounded area in hopes of somehow making it better.

  • "my eye! starclan, my eye! i-its gone!"

blackpaw shot up, ears swiveled in panic. she'd recognize that voice any day. reluctantly emerging from her make-shift "den", she paced over to paperpaw, tail pulling up in between her legs. she was shocked at first, then terrified. they had all left her there. blackpaw assumed she was dead. but here she was, caked with blood, and wailing about her empty eye socket.

her stomach churned as guilt captivated her, then sympathy. the apprentice didn't know what to do. "i, uh, i'll get uh...bumblefoot." she stammered, backing away.

// is this a frienship sprouting i see?

  • ☄ ----~ Similarly to Owlpaw, Zeph had concluded that Paperpaw had not made it out of the camp alive. Though the apprentice had always been quite the troublemaker, purposefully getting under his skin and insulting her own father as well as clan-mates, she didn't deserve such a cruel fate as to be burned alive. Hell, Zeph even missed her. In the several days she had been apart from the clan, Zeph often stayed up well into the night wondering if he could have done something, anything, to have brought her out with them...

So he was surprised when he stirred from his spot, gazing into the distant, burned moorland, to hear Paperpaw's familiar shrieking. If his ears weren't so keen, he would have thought he was magining things. But no, he rose to his paws quickly and bounded over in the direction of the voice, ignoring the stiff ache and throb from his own burn scars as he came over...

to find Paperpaw, indeed, in one piece.

Or, for the most part, at least.

"Bumblefoot!" he called over his shoulder, bounding over to the two mollies, good eye narrowed with concern. His tongue was filled with the need to repeat Owlpaw's already spoken questions, needing to know the answer as much as she, but he knew it was tedious to ask the same inquiries twice. Instead, he focused on Owlpaw and said, "you should stand back, you might make things worse," he told her, his tone stern but not so sharply edged. He knew how much Owlpaw just wanted to help, but Bumblefoot needed to check the wound first before anyone should touch it...

  • // you kno it is!! ;)) sob owl sweet <3

Staring down at her mutated appearance, Paperpaw only hears ringing in her ears which means she doesn't her Owlpaw at all on her approach. It's only when a tongue hits her blind side, near the tender pain in her eye that she hisses, spinning round on who had touched her. Realising it was Owlpaw, Paper sobs and buries her good side of her face into her sisters' shoulder. "You were a-all gone! No-one came back for me!" It was kit-like but she could only feel terror like a kit right now.

The ringing cleared, and her sobs descended to just shaking upon hearing Blackpaw talk. She couldn't see the cat when she approached, her face in Owlpaws' shoulder. "No!" The apprentice almost yells to the former loner, heart in her throat. "N-no! Don't get him!" She couldn't face him after trying to kill him.

Zephyrbee was telling her sister to move away from her, and Paperpaw frowned, yelping in pain when it made her socket twinge in pain. "Don't leave, please." She hisses to Owlpaw, crowding in close to her sister, her eye drifting to Zephs' face. She let out a weak laugh, the wind stinging her empty socket. "Ha, Zeppy look. We're matching now." Her tail flicks to gesture where the tom had got damage over one eye, a little deliriously.

Pain and relief upon finding her clan was making her muscles untense and her head loll.

  • Cedarpaw had brought up Paperpaw's absence when they were at the border, but no one had seemed to pay any mind to it. Now he felt relief surging through him, although it was soon replaced with guilt. She was getting hysterical - about her eye, how everyone has abandoned her, and he knew that he shouldn't have left. Screw the kits, honestly.

"I'm so sorry." Cedarpaw told her as he approached, raspy voice crestfallen. "I should've looked for you, I should've gone back." Oh, hey, was Cedarpaw actually showing an emotion that wasn't anger for once? Yes, he was. He thought he'd lost his only friend - StarClan knows he wasn't making any new friends right now, not with his current attitude.

  • "I wasn't allowed to go back", he thought, holding himself back from saying it as he wasn't planning on starting another discussion about that matter. Even though Paperpaw wasn't the kindest, it didn't mean she deserved a thing like this (although he probably would've thought otherwise if he had known about the fire thing). "I don't think leaving it as it is, is a good idea. You need help", he meowed with a hoarse voice, still unable to produce something louder than a whisper. He really hoped he'd get rid of this problem soon.

    //ach, low muse

  • Owlpaw jolted when Zephyrbee spoke up, and leaned away from her sister. She certainly didn't want to make things worse. But Paperpaw was quick to follow her. With a wary sigh, she gently rested her head on Paper's head, mumbling vague reassurances like "It's okay now, we're here, you found us."

The molly looked up as the others arrived, eyes landing on Bearstorm. Carefully, Owlpaw moved her head and looked into Paperpaw's eye and murmured, "He's right you know. You're hurt pretty bad. Dad can help!" Looking over her shoulder at the long stretch of riverbank, she called out, "Dad! Where are you, you need to come over here! Paperpaw's hurt!"

  • // sorry bear in advance yEET

At the sight of her friend and her sisters' pelt besides her, Paper felt her breathing calm at least the slightest. He looked remorseful. That wasn't how she remembered Cedar at all. A flicker of worry stirred in her - how much had she missed? Tired, she waves a paw towards him until she pats his paw weakly. "You didn't know." She croaked a little bit.

She tenses when Bearstorm comes over, continuing to talk to Cedarpaw over the warriors raspy voice. "Last I saw, you were carrying out some kits, right? Clan kits?" She emphasises as best she can, choking on the words. She needed to focus on something, anything, except her pain and it turned out to be hate.

Resigned to her fate of seeing the father she tried to kill, Paper tenses and keeps close to Owl. She only had one eye now but it would be just as difficult to face him.

// rp'ing a med cat to fix up your own characters lmao im dead

  • Cedar was lucky that Bear didn't know about the kit story, or he would probably do to him what he had done to the kits (and he was a soccer champ), but that wasn't the case, so he simply tilted his head. Well, that was quite the interesting turn of events. Even in situations like this, she was more focused on her hate towards those who hadn't been born in clans. His eyesight started to become smaller, but he quickly pushed the thoughts to the back of his head. Not now. Not here. Hopefully never. For their sake.

  • ☄ ----~ Zephyrbee frowned, guilt churning in his gut at having also left Paper behind. But he forced that aside, focusing instead on how Paperpaw had refused assistance from her father. He got the feeling that it was because of something beyond just pride...He said nothing, though, and simply studied her as she mentioned his own injuries, then was soon crowded by other cats. She looked frightened, guilty. Why would she feel guilt if she had been the one left behind.

Though Paperpaw was injured and he was sympathetic towards that, suspicion gnawed at his gut. "Ill go get him - Owlpaw, don't touch her injuries," he said curtly, before turning around and bounding off to find his mate.
