The male had set up the spot at the top of the mountain, as it was clear and mostly flat. It was a good place to watch the northern lights and it would make a great place to view the solar eclipse, even if it took a little bit more hiking. He put up a table that had plenty of those glasses that were made specifically for viewing this event, not wanting to risk anyone's eyes being hurt from it. They got lucky with their territory due to the fact that it was indeed in the path of totality, so they would receive the full experience. The eclipse itself would be starting very soon and anyone who joined would have good views. To spice things up a little, Royalguard decided to bring out a grill and begin grilling hot dogs and burgers, although had vegetarian options like vegetarian-safe pasta and chili he'd prepared ahead of time.

  • the mountains had reminded valor of when he had visited windclan on hawkclans behalf, that ambassador thing was still weird and new to him. the mountains were a strange terrain that was rough on the hybrids paws, the craggy, stone earth was a vast difference from the grass or sandy plains he was used to treading on. still, he made it up the mountain with little trouble concerning stamina, and met royalguard with a half smile. "i didn't take you for a grill kinda guy." he joked, a bit eager to eat.

  • "WE'RE ON THE FRONTLINE"

This was all so exciting to him. So, he would bound over to his dad and take a seat. Ears perked and eyes on the sky. "What is an Eclipse dad?"

Royalguard turned his attention towards Valor as the hybrid appeared, ears perking forward. "I'm just a general food kinda guy, doesn't matter if it's grill, oven, or whatever. So long as it tastes good, y'know?" He responded eagerly, though as he was stating the words he realized he hadn't baked in a while. Maybe he should do that one of these days. Cookies or cake didn't sound too bad. "Would you like anything in specific, though?" he then asked, kicking away his thoughts for now. He'd be happy to "cook to order". In all honesty, he sort of liked to show off his cooking prowess. Others enjoying his food was also just nice.

As his adopted cub showed up, he flashed a grin. Once given the question, excitement would clearly shoot through him. His brother had taught him all about space and they would stargaze every night. Anything related to space gave him a sense of happy nostalgia. "Well, there's two types of eclipses. The one that's gonna be happening soon is called a solar eclipse, and what you'll see is that the moon comes around the sky and blocks out the sun entirely, making it seem kinda like nighttime. A lunar eclipse is when a full moon reflects light off of the sun, making the moon look red." He kept out the technicalities and kept the explanation to a summary, as he still wanted it to make sense and didn't want to overload the cub with information. He hoped it did still make enough sense, because if not...oops?

*:・゚✦Coffeepup approached, looking around at the setup. She turned, hearing her adopted father speaking, and the wolf's ears perked as she listened to what he was telling Knightkit. Woah, she thought, coming to take a spot by the two. She'd never witnessed and eclipse before, unsurprising given her age, but it sounded amazing and the canine was excited to be able to witness it. "That sounds cool!" she woofed, the stump where her tail should be wagging slightly in anticipation.

  • "Odd." The young female murmured, "How am I going to see it without

hurting my eyes?" she added in a curious tone, cantering over to the group.

She hadn't ever seen any of those eclipses, but this one seemed special from the

looks of it. Why was it so special? That was the main question in her mind. But

it seemed rude to ask that. It was better to be polite and not too questioning.

    we're on the frontlines

The cub looked amazed by all of this. Wait, they were going to be cast into darkness by the moon? How was that possible? "Woah. That is awesome! How does that work though? Isn't the sun bigger?"
