just wondering what sort of drama we can cause with these two mwhaha >) PALEPAW

Furious, Paperpaw storms from her father's den, his pitiful yowls calling from behind her.

She hated him - that was sure. All she had done is ask a simple probing question about their family, not even Ferncurl herself, and he had tensed. She knew what was coming next, a long rolling speech about how it wasn't worth talking about their mother. But Paperpaw wanted to. She needed to know about her. Why did she leave her and her siblings? Paperpaw could understand leaving Bumblefoot, he was an idiot, but why her kits?

Confused and panicking, she rounds on her brother Palepaw. "Can we talk? Outside camp?" She didn't want other apprentices to hear this. "We can sneak out, it's not like anyone would notice. Not even Zephyrbee." The grey tabby murmured as quietly as her angrily shaking body would let her.

// cx saaaame thisll be good

Palepaw had been peacefully nibbling on half a sparrow, the other half of which he had share with another apprentice, when his sister came marching up to him. The tom paused, mouth open and ready to bite onto his prey, as she furiously requested that they talk outside of camp. He wasnt positive what this was about, but he could guess, and from the looks of it they weren't going to have a calm little chat in the moor.

Before responding he couldnt help but think about the last time he had gotten caught sneaking out of camp; how embarrassing that had been. However, it wasnt night time now, so he wouldnt explicitly be breaking his promise. Without uttering a word, the apprentice merely nodded in agreement, rising to his paws and quietly heading towards the entrance to camp. He knew better than to ask he what was wrong out here in front of everyone.

After making it a ways out into the moorlands, he paused, turning to make sure they weren't followed before directing his attention to Paperpaw. He could only guess that this had something to do with their father; little else could get her so worked up. "What's wrong? Did something happen?" He couldnt help the small tinge of worry that seeped into his voice.

Glad that her brother hadn't caused a fuss to follow her, she spins to him at his calm, worried tone. It was a refreshing relief from the barrage of corrections and complaints from other clan mates. She always knew Palepaw had good advice, as their training with Zeph had shown.

She laughs shakily at his question. "Oh yeah something happened." Her tail lashes, trying to cool down for the sake of Palepaw. "First dad springs a cousin on us, and I tried to ask about his mother - not even ours! - and he started saying not to ask about mom. It's so frustrating, he won't tell us anything!" Her claws tug at the dry moor beneath their feet.

"Why won't he tell us anything Palepaw?" She sighs defeated.

He couldnt help but release a low breath when his first assumptions proved correct. Feelings of unrest always seemed to stem from their father's refusal to talk about their mother. It didnt seem like any big matter, not some big secret that he should feel he needed to keep from them. For a moment all he could do was shake his head slowly, taking in her fuming words.

"I... I don't know," he admitted defeatedly. "I definitely hadnt expected him to thrust a cousin at us out of nowhere. But I can handle that, with time. I honestly don't know how to get him to talk about mom, though. He's just so stubborn, and for some reason or another there's something about her that he doesn't want us to know. We cant give up though." If they gave in now they would never know. Bumblefoot would have to open up about the truth eventually.

  • // hhhng sorry i get intimidated to post bcos ur such a good rp'er heh

At the defeat in Palepaws' tone, Paperpaw slouches to the floor. Her claws slip back inside her paws, and her head lies heavily on them. Rolling onto her back was useful for two things. She could see her brother clearer, and it also meant it was harder for her frustrated tears to come pouring out as she listens to Pale speak. Hopefully he wouldn't see the shine of angry tears across her amber eyes.

"I wonder what the big mystery is?" Paperpaw sniffles, looking up at her cream tabby brother. "Maybe she's not even a cat, y'know? Maybe she's a horse." With a weak smirk, she aims to give Palepaws' shoulder a light shove. "You always were big for your age."

    // oml you're so sweet <3

Unfortunately, Palepaw did catch the tears that threatened to fall from his sisters eyes. He pretended not to notice, though, as he knew she wouldnt want to appear weak in front of him. Instead he snickered at the joke she made, pretending to fall onto the ground next to her due to her light shove. "If that were true, then how's come your so short?" he laughed gently. The mood soon returned to serious once more, however, and he couldnt help but sigh once more. "I don't know. But it's obviously something. What other reason could he have for not telling us?" Pausing a moment, he rolled onto his back, gazing up at the sky when a thought suddenly struck his mind. "Do you think she's still alive? What if she's out there, right now, wondering about us like we're wondering about her?" For some reason the thought made him happy.

  • // <333 i love how deep there getting about their mama and im just like have no idea whats shes doing lol

Knowing she'd been caught, Paper moves a paw to swipe away a streak on her face. There was no point hiding if Pale had already seen, she reckoned. Her paw came away damper but her heart lighter. "It must have been a dwarf pony then." She purred in a laugh, that soon trailed off when her brothers' voice became serious once more, drawing her ears back slightly.

"Maybe she ... was a bad cat?" Paper voiced quietly, not wanting to think about that. What if their mother had became a Bloodclanner after she left? They didn't know and they probably knew would. It made their lives that much harder, that a femme could swan back into their lives and say 'hey, i gave birth to you and then left.'

Staring up at the stars, she shuffled over on her back so she could lean her head against Palepaws' shoulder, drawing comfort from her brothers' side. His happy tone made a small smile quirk onto her lips. "I think that would be lovely." She murmurs, her eyes not leaving the stars. "It's hard to be optomistic like that, y'know? I can't help wondering if she's in Starclan or something."

// lol right cx let me know if I'm like ruining their plot or anything

"I... I really don't want to believe she was," he whispered sullenly, his breathing slowing to a calm rhythm when his sister scooted closer. As much as he didnt want to admit it, his family was the only thing that made him feel safe. And the fact that his own father was keeping secrets from them only succeeded in crushing his heart. All he could do to protect his emotions was to shut Bumblefoot out all together.

At her mention of their mother possibly being in Starclan, his smile returned once more, only this time it carried a hint of sadness. "Honestly, maybe being in Starclan would be better than being here right now. Things.. haven't exactly been good in the forest recently." Palepaw had desperately hoped that things would have started getting better now, but they only progressively got worse.

  • // lmao there is no plot to follow so your good! <3

    also should this be pre-fire / after-fire? :0

Paperpaw shut her eyes slightly as Palepaws' breathing slowed to a calming rhythm, breathing in sync with her brother. She missed her other siblings as they'd become more and more distant from her, probably due to her stance on Loners. Luckily she felt she would always have Palepaws' support.

She snorts at his comment. "You're damn right it hasn't been easy." She tucks her head closer to his shoulder, feeling like the world should go away and leave them be. "How have you been coping anyway? I feel like I don't see you around as much as I used to?"
