Mario looked over at him, then shook his hand "Thank you.. for all of your help, really. We would've been lost in the forest forever without you, so thank you..." he gave a small smile before sadly walking back to the Mushroom Kingdom
*weeks later
Mario finally returned, but of course, the truck and none of the others were with him

*Sonic looked over from the tree, smiling gently "Ey, it's Mario and- wait, where's everyone else?"

'What am I gonna tell crystal? What am I gonna tell Peach? What am I gonna tell Daisy..... thank mushrooms Crys and Willow didn't come.. it would've made me feel even WORSE....'
Mario paused then saw Sonic and gave a small wave

"Something up?" The hedgehog murmured, jumping down "Where's everyone else?"

Mario explained what had happened, choking on his words and tears in his eyes the whole time
