  • HAUNTEDPAW

The girl may as well learn, right? So she slipped from her rooom and out into the clearing. Blinking, she would take a seat. "Spar anyone?" She would call as she sat back to wait.

  • Cyrus had started a sparring session a week or so before but hadn't had much success with it, and it wasn't easy to do fighting practise on one's own. Seeing Hauntedpaw there, he padded over, wondering if she'd be willing to spar with him. He wasn't a particularly big cat, after all, or very experienced with fighting.

"I'd have a spar, if you'd like." He meowed, greeting her with a friendly wave of his tail.

  • HAUNTEDPAW

The female would wave her tail and then offer a nod. She could learn a thing or two from him. Or, she hoped so. "Okay. No powers then? I don't have any so.." She offered as she crouched. Watching him.

  • Cyrus nodded.

"The only power I've got is shapeshifting, and I won't use it." He needed to practise his fighting in this body, anyway, now that he'd lost the body that he was born in. "You can start," he added, also dropping into a crouch. He'd be able to see where she was up to with her fighting skills, then.

  • HAUNTEDPAW

That was fine with her. Darting forward, she would lunge for him head on, but twist at the last second and attempt to swat his left shoulder. No, claws aloud, so it was more like a pat.

  • Cyrus was expecting a head on charge, given his estimate of how much training the apprentice had gotten. He sidestepped right to dodge the lunge, but the twist and swat took him by surprise, smacking into his left shoulder. It could have had a bit more force to it, but it was a good move, he thought. His retaliation would be an attempt to trip her, trying to sweep her foreleg out from underneath her before she could regain stability after her attack.

  • HAUNTEDPAW

The tactic worked and down she went. Startled by the movement, she would try to roll away from him. Needing to get her paws under her.

  • Cyrus took advantage of his success with that move, trying to pin her down. But she'd rolled away too quickly, and he ended up with the weight of his paw landing on her stomach rather than successfully pinning her. Three paws still on the ground, he tried to hold her down anyway, even though he was a bit unstable from the unevenness of his position.

  • "WHEN ALL THIS TIME I'VE BEEN SO HOLLOW"

For a moment, she thought he had her. Until he realized that he was on three paws. She would attempt to swat his other leg out from under him.

  • There was a moment where he saw surprise in Hauntedpaw's expression, and he began to try and regain his balance, perhaps to try and pin her properly in this brief moment of advantage. However, she moved first. Cyrus let out a startled huff as his other forepaw was swept out from underneath him, having him fall forward towards Hauntedpaw, potentially weighing her down.

  • "WHEN ALL THIS TIME I'VE BEEN SO HOLLOW"

That, was not what she had hoped for. When he landed on her, her face went red under the fur. Lord, this was not what she had wanted at all. "Oh!" She gasped out. Hoping he did not see the look of embarrassment in her eyes.

  • It wasn't exactly what Cyrus had wanted either, but for a different reason. He'd wanted to pin her down, not squash her! Her startled gasp caught his attention and he scrambled up to his paws.

"Are you alright?" He asked quickly, not wanting to disrupt the spar, but not to hurt her, either, Luckily for Hauntedpaw he remained entirely oblivious to her embarrassment, feeling more concern.
