As a lot if other overwatch characters, Gerard managed to live. This is kind of an au. Gerard is completely up to interpretation which will make his easier for me to go about this.
The idea is Gerard is also a sniper for overwatch. He know Widowmaker is his wife and insists on going on a mission with the team.
This could go many ways.
A) Widow already took care of Overwatch's known sniper so they don't anticipate another one. He targets Widowmaker and wounds her enough to startle her. Them he tries to talk to her.
B) Gerard simply does his jib and takes care if Talon and tries to ignore Widowmaker. She ends up hurting him and forces him to pay attention to her or something like that and more conversation
