Mistral polished off the rest of her plate standing up. "Let's get started!" She hummed excitedly, grabbing a wide brimmed jar and two small scissors. She plopped a wide hat on her head. Humming she made her way out the door and out back where the garden lay. It was surrounded by a surprisingly tall fence with a small gate the some of the plants holding produce.

Bunny followed and looked around at all the plants. Sooo many! She pointed at a leafy green herb in confusion. "What is this?" She asked, sniffing the crisp white, light green, yellow, and dark green leaves on it
-
"That's basil. Don't worry about that for now, come here." She said gently, waving her over to where she was crouched in front of a bean plant. "I need you help." She said with a hum, reaching one of the pods a pulling them it off with a clean snap. "Yep, their definitely ready." She said with satisfaction, taking an experimental bite.
-
Bunny nodded and bent as well, waiting to see what Mistral would do to the beans. Put them in a basket? But.. She would just make sure before she picked some
-
"So what I need you to is to harvest this one along with a few other ones and put them in the basket. You'll when they're ready when they come off like this--" She made an example tugging off another pod with a clean snap. "If they don't come off like this then leave them there because they aren't ready." She explained looking over to see of Bunny got it.
-
Bunny nodded slowly, taking in the woman's instructions. She reached for one and tugged at it, hearing the same snap when it pulled off. She looked to Mistral with a proud look, having not done this before. She reached for another, but it felt like trying to tear off vine branches. So she left it and looked over to the other peas.
-
"Good!" She praised delightedly as she watched her for a for more mintues. "It looks like you have it all under control here." She said with a hum picking up the small scissors moving over to a tomato plant. "I really do appreciate you helping." She said warmly as she gently snipped a red tomato away from it's stem and placed it in basket. "It's a bit hard doing things around here with 6 sets of hands." She hummed as she reached for another.
-
The doe eyed girl nodded and continued to pull on the peas, some done, others not done. She glanced to Mistral as she cut the tomatoes. Those were ones that she thought poisonous. Since they were brightly colored. "M-mistral? Aren't those poisonous? They-re b-brightly coloured.."
-
Mistral looked over to Bunny curiously the burst in to a series of giggles, not with the intention of offending her. "There's nothing to worry about! This isn't poisonous at all look--" She hummed taking a bite out of a freshly picked tomato, smiling gleefully. "See? Perfectly fine!" She said offering her the tomato to try out herself.
-
Bunny nodded and smiled before taking the offered tomato to bite out of. She took a bite of the fruit to have juice dribble down her chin "Mmmmm! It is good. " She said, offering the tomato back
-
"See!" She hummed, shaking her head when Bumny offered the food back, snipping off a few more tomatoes as she did. "You can have the rest of it-- oh! You have a little.." She made a slight gesture to her chin, hoping that she caught her drift.
In the distace Ryland was making his return trip carrying what goods he didn't manage to sell and two goats, who were bleating, most likely assuming that thier lives were going to end soon. Well at least not for a long time.
-
The girl perked and smiled before nodding and wiping her chin. "Did i get it?" She asked, about to return to helping with the beans. The sound of bleating made her look up from Mistral a moment before shrugging and looking back to the kind lady. Bunny wondered what made bleating noises. Did deer have that ability? No.. Wait, there was one thing she remembered made that noise. Mountain goats! She nodded to herself and looked at the beans for a moment, snapping two more off.
-
"Yep!" She said with a bright laugh before turning back to the tomato vine before snipping off the last few ripe ones and moving to a cucumber plant near by and beginning to work on that. She looked in the air as she heard a sharp cry above her. She let out an excited 'Oh!' before rushing off returning with a rope. "Bunny, do you mind helping me with this?"
Ryland circled lazily as he waited for his mother to return. Once he spotted her he slowly made his way down. Once their hooves touched the ground the goats tried to make a bolt for it, Mistral only managing to get a hold onto one as the other one scampered off into the woods. "Shit." He muttered once he managed to slip back into his human form picking up the rucksack he had placed on the ground. Months of going to that god-forsaken village only to have half of his hard work run away.
-
Bunny nodded and went over to help her. She shook her head gently to remove her instinct of running for the goat. Or.. Maybe she- No. It was too risky. She helped hold the goat and continued to stare at the silky and course wool of the goat
-
"I'll go get it," Ryland muttered, preparing to take off again, being stopped by Mistral's gentle hand. "It's fine we can lure it back pretty easy." She reasurred telling him to go grab the dried fruit from the cellar. He gave a slight nod dissapear around the back of the house.
"Bunny, do you mind taking this one to the shed? Its by the chicken coop over there." She said pointing over in it's direction. To make in a bit easier she slid a lead around it's neck. She turned a bit when her son came back, holding a couple of jars filled to the brim with dried apple chips and the like.
"I got some oats too," He said, following his mothers instructions to go and sprinkle some near by in the forest to encourage it to come back.
-
"Yes, Ma'am" She said, holding the lead and petting the goat gently as though it would break. She smiled a little at the goat and looked towards what Mistral and Ryland were doing. She almost let the rope go, but almost instantly gripped it again
-
By the time Bunny came back Ryland had already made his trip spreading the fruit and oats around. "By the way you came back earlier than expected." Mistral pointed out cheerfully, a smile on her face.
"Yeah, it was a slow day so not many people were there. Plus I heard it was going to to rain some time this afternoon and I didn't want to get stranded." He said glancing at his sack. "I got the stuff you needed by the way along with some other things." He said, with a glance.
"Ah! Thank you! I'll take these inside and make some lunch. Can you help Bunny with the rest of the gardening?" She said warmly, making it hard for him to say no. "Good! I'll call you both in when it's done," She sing-songed as she disappeared into the house. Ryland rolled his shoulders and went to the garden looking over what was done before pucking up where his mother left off.
-
Bunny glanced at Ryland and glared a little before going back to the peas to finish. She tried not sneaking a look or two to glare at the red haired male, but failed a couple of times. She finally finished with the last of the peas, leaving the other peas to ripen. She picked the basket up and went to take the peas inside to Mistrel
-
Ryland felt a weird prickle at the back of his neck and turned to Bunny eyes narrowed. He missed her glare though and tried to shrug it off, but that weird pickling feeling remained. After Bunny left he focused on the rest of his task, taking the rest of the cucumbers and a few bunches of herbs before standing up and making his way in side, noting that the sky was clouding over. He let out a groan before walking over inside, carrying the basket with him.
Mistral stood by the sink humming a careless tune as she sawed the leftover bread for sandwiches, wondering what she should put on it. "Maybe some bacon? Or cucumbers.." She pondered this for a moment looking over as the door opened. "Oh, thank you for finishing up. Just set them right there for now." She hummed motioning over to a clear spot on the counters. "I'll use some of this for dinner, Can 3/4s of what's left and use the rest to feed the goats." She said with a nod as she considered what to do with the peas. "Ah, by the way--" She paused when Ryland came in looking a tiny bit annoyed as he carried in his own basket.
"It looks like it's about to rain so I'm gonna put the chickens up and check up on the goat." He announced before his mother asked and worried herself. He went ahead and placed his basket on the counter before leaving out the door again. Mistral looked particularly worried for him, not wanting to get caught up in the rain and catch a cold.
-
Bunny glared at Ryland behind his mothers back before going over "Can i help?" She asked her, like a child would ask to make the Sunday bread on Saturday morn. She felt.. Happy. For the first time in her life, she felt safe around a mother. She didn't have suspicions that Mistral would kick her out or wish she were dead or anything. It felt like Mistral was her mother almost. Better than the one who she would not name.. The one she hated.. She shook her head in dizziness as a small clip of her past played. Her vision swam with black and white dots, before she sat a moment.
~Past clipet~
"I hate her!"
"H-honey.. Why do you hate her? She's a wonderful daughter.."
"She's weak! Do you know what that means?! It means that she'll die anyways!" Her mother yelled at her father
Bunny's eyes welled up with tears as she listened to her mothers conversation. Did her mother really want to kill her?
~Back to the present~
The doe eyed female felt herself begin to cry a little, but she managed to try and wipe it away. She hoped Mistral didn't see that she started to cry.. She rubbed her eye and put on her best smile, but inside.. It felt fake
