  • *:・゚✦ COUGARSTAR

    — kicking ass and taking names | tags *:・゚✦

Massive paw pads carved out a path through the forestry just as a panther stalked prey. A predator. A killer. A murderer. A woman who lost it all. Influenced by the dark forest, her home clan, Bloodclan, and manipulated by dead spirits in which filled her cranium with disceiving lies intoxicated the predator's soul into an endless bath of deathly darkness. Chiseled shoulder blades like razors jutted out from under hide of ripped orientation so heavily scarred and bathed in blood that many would run in fright. They'd presume that she was a Dark Forest Warrior herself and that was exactly who Cougarstar had become. Spirits of the dead seemingly walked beside her, or that's what she saw anyways. Pelts so black that they never seemed to end, like liquidated shadows, smoke billowing behind them as they hissed into ragged ears.

    "Slay her."

"Foreststar turned her back on you, just as everyone else did."

"She will pay, Thunderclan will pay... Everyone will pay."

    Everyone... Everyone... Everyone...

The words rang through her head like an echo in a cave.

And without mercy did the goddess come gliding through the forestry like a shadow of death, she'd gone through hell and back and everyone could tell. Cougarstar's once emerald baths of crystalline fortune had dimmed with pain, sorrow, grief, and above all anger. Anger filled her every attention accompanied by a saddened pain so strong that she had voided every emotion one could. She no longer felt nor did she give a shit about anything. Everyone turned on her, she was stolen from her home, everywhere she went people seemed to die. Her loves, her friends, family. Starclan robbed her of all of it. The clans robbed her and the Dark Forest was her savior.

Like the deliverer of death came a frame like a cougar itself, muscled and slim, lean and tall. Marked with horrific marks and a tongue so poisonous that she could nearly spit fire. Coming to a halt within Thunderclan territory, Sunningrocks exactly (which she considered her own territory), Cougarstar dismissed the spirits that consumed her mind and they vanished like smoke with the flick of her tail as massive jaws unlatched like a trap. Perhaps it was a trap. "FORESTSTAR."

    "Speech."

  • OOC: wow I didn't even get a notification for this. This is going to be posted late and maybe not very good, I'm a little (read: very) ticked at some particularly cruel people at the moment (lol edit: your awesome starter post gave me muse and made me feel a bit better)

IC: The call reached Foreststar's ears from halfway across the territory, startling the adder she had been hunting into a crevice. She wanted to be frustrated (hunting snake took much longer than any other prey, but the extra prey was worth it), but something about the call made her nerves tingle with a cold edging on fear. Fear she could handle fine, had for years, but this was something else.

She blinked, and suddenly hazy, starry pelts were at her sides. Anxious voices in her head whispered not to go to the call, to run back to camp and drive the Thing away with a patrol and warn the other leaders as if a walking greencough had appeared. She could almost see the yellow eyes of past warriors blinking at her, wide with fear like full moons. Then all of a sudden the ancestors' fear pulled away, its suffocating high tide swept away by a familiar presence that almost brought tears to her eyes.

A carefree grin, the pine-earth scent of Shadowclan, a tabby pelt and icy blue eyes against the tabbylike undergrowth. Hey, my dear, don't listen to them. But be careful, ok? I know you can do it. All of Starclan will be with you.

Foreststar swallowed down tears and let his comforting presence sweep over her instead, warming the icy dread from the voice off her nerves.

Starclan's other half waits for you at Sunningrocks. It's dangerous, but it needs driven back from the clans. I hate for us to send you to it, my love, but you're the cat for the job. Your Clan will be at your back when things look the bleakest. No worries. Just do your thing.

Foreststar wasn't entirely sure what Pinefrost was talking about, and the presence of her late mate taking her back to her loner days didn't help. Was this what had been prophesized by Creambounce? The Lightning that would burn with the fury of the stars or something? She didn't have long to ponder it, because Pinefrost's starry pelt started forward to guide her down the Snakerocks. Half-numb with confusion and his voice, she let him, and some power of Starclan brought her focus back with every pawstep until they were standing on the ground. Another few pawsteps towards the undergrowth, and another wave started to lick at her fur, this one of courage and justice. It worked like cold water to bring her back to the present, though at the cost of the potent presence of her late mate; Starclan's pelts beside her suddenly faded away, until she could just barely feel them, as if a cloud had drifted between them and blotted them out. She had waited so long for him to visit her, and only got to see him at her leadership ceremony, so the loss of his presence before something so chilling startled her.

Were still here. Go knock some sense into Courgarstar.

Cougarstar, hunh? She was still alive? Well, maybe that was a good thing--Foreststar had been wanting to swat some sense into that cat ever since she'd met her, though the feeling had basically left when she thought the tawny Riverclanner had died. So many leaders had come and gone lately, but none had made her outraged like Cougarstar had, putting pride before her clan. Was she still technically a leader? Because if not, some kitlike part of Foreststar's mind would jump at the chance to give her what for.

But more important was her clan's safety, and something suddenly told her that was what was really on the line here. Over her nine lives.

Eyes narrowing, Foreststar started off at a jog towards the Riverclan border, checking the forest the whole way for any warriors that might see her streaking by. This was leader business, or at least Starclan business. Her warriors would have to wait their turn. It didn't even occur to her that Cougarstar could be larger than her, or that her wounds from Shadowclan's and Darkclan's raid had only just grown new skin.

Foreststar skidded to a stop at the top of Sunningrocks minutes later, and grinned wryly to herself. "Cougarstar! So you really are here. I thought you were dead. From what I hear, you'd be better off as such."

With powerful vocals such as a hurricane and a vessel of great mass to follow, sharpened jaws and heightened cheek bones lowered from their bellowing state, body relaxing slightly though hardened muscles quivered with adrenalin. mouth closing only before the tyrant lifted her cranium ever so slightly, rolling back her shoulders in wait only before large hind legs and curved hips rippled with a sudden electrification as Cougarstar leaped upon a nearby boulder, paw pads gripping needingly against the rugged surface as she pulled herself up like an eel. Ease and grace of beautification before the sudden emergence of noise hummed in the air in desperate await. Movement in an ocean of greenery and ferns held paw steps in hot pursuit. Dark forest entities surrounding her frame like smoke. Hissed voices and whispers of evil snaking through the air like thick nectar caused Cougarstar to move forward with her plans as the manipulator had become the manipulated. Though she sensed something pure and light, the wait lifted from her chest, Starclan was near now that was a Dark Forest member she could sense this purity in the air against the darkness that clouded her.

Blinded by anger and hatred, the ex-leader consumed the dark spirit's words of murder and horror into her heart and soul in which had darkened during the past months like a rotting apple. The rogue group ravaged her, made Cougarstar what she was before and what she was when she was born. A killer. The Dark Forest, the rogue group, and her home clan of Bloodclan allowed her to be who she truly was all along. Dark. But sad and pained by grief and jealousy. That was Starclan's fault, the clans robbed her of everything she loved. Her plans to become a new self, righteous and merciful were destroyed like it was nothing but child's banter. Perhaps nobody really could change in the end, or so the heroine turned villain (or manipulated to become a villain) believed, you were always who you were from the beginning just as she was.

Merciless, the militant casually lowered her fearless gaze upon a familiar face; it was as if Cougarstar had better places to be. Or so it seems, because in reality she didn't have anywhere else to be but here. She needed to end her enemies and Foreststar was one. The Thunderclan leader denied her of aid and denied her of Riverclans rightful territory. Thunderclan turned their backs upon Riverclan and Cougarstar when they were in need. But when Thunderclan was in trouble, attacked by hounds (compliments of Bloodclan for luring them in) several moons ago, Cougarstar was there to fight along side their neighboring clan. Now in return? She was given nothing; and "thanks" wasn't about to cut it.

Foreststar. The she-cat approached like a goddess from her kingdom, head tall and shoulders back as she seemingly radiated power from her vessel. A smile dripping from the Thunderclanner's maw just as though she didn't know what was going to happen next. Something horrible and heart wrenching; something the old Cougarstar would never do because really; she never minded Foreststar before. She was kind, intelligent, and above all she put her clan first. She was a leader who deserved no enemies, though the different Cougarstar who returned from the Dark Forest had grown darker, vengeful, grief stricken, and blinded by rage only fed by the spirits who controlled her mind.

"Foreststar," she stated simply, now dulled and painful emerald eyes looking the Leader up and down for a moment before a crooked smile curled upon a bloody maw as to her words.

"I thought you were dead. From what I hear, you'd be better off as such."

"Darling, I'm Cougarstar," she began, smile curling out of cruelty, optic spectacles to compliment before continuing, vocals suddenly and unexpectedly dropping from their former mock amusement into something entirely different and haunting. She held seriousness and disgust in her voice with such spit. Power and authority rippling from a sharp tongue so venomous that it spat liquidated fire. Merciless and vain, she spoke with the hunger of a starved tigress. "Nobody can kill me."

Her words like talons through flesh as her face was stoic though glossy eyes held a pain so deep that one could feel it. Did anyone even look for her? Were they all glad that the great Cougarstar had vanished, tired of her hunger for territory and perhaps even power?

She paused, eyes narrowing as the crooked smile of evil betrayal then returned upon a twisted maw as she cocked her head to the side. "But I can kill you."

"I've found myself, love. The Dark Forest my savior and Starclan my foe. Everything I've ever loved stolen from me, ripped from my paws as I fought with tooth and claw. Every friend I've ever held onto: dead. Every lover whom I've possessed: gone. Sisters and brothers vanished just as my leadership did when I was stolen from my home, ripped away from my kits. Starclan was the end of me as they manipulated me, played me like I was a fool, then expected me to be who I was not: a saint, as I am a cold blooded killer, bloodlusted and merciless- for that, my birth home of Bloodclan has accepted me. And unlike Starclan, the Dark Forest will never turn their back on me like everyone else did. They'v accepted me and without limitation I am free to take revenge on those who have wronged me... And you are one."

  • OOC: ouo chills really? Reading your posts is like reading a paint brush ~~

IC: Foreststar was somewhat taken aback by the malice that practically dripped off of the former Riverclan leader, the dullness in the greenleaf gaze so like her own. Did Doestar know her predecessor was here? Did she know she was alive? Did she know she was...whatever this was? Foreststar wasn't sure whether to know or not was better, for either of them. She felt Pinefrost's tail brush her pelt again, and she found some words. "I've never heard of this dark forest, and we never exactly got to speak much, but I don't think any of that is you."

A strange thing for her to say when she was staring down something that felt worse than the craziest Bloodclanner, but she felt it true. She could feel it deep down, as clearly as she could feel the potential in Lightningpaw, and every kittypet who came to their doorstep. She wasn't sure what 'it' was, but she knew it was true. "If you would like to try speaking now, I'm all ears. But I don't suppose you're looking for that in particular." She was certainly prepared to fight if she had to. And Sunningrocks was probably the best place for it! What luck. Her clanmates wouldn't have to see any gore immediately, and both Thunderclan and Riverclan would see if something happened. That thought, though practical as always, gave her a sudden sense of dread, but she tried to push it away to focus on fighting if need be.

The goddess analyzed her features with the calculation bestowed in a general. Spear tipped gaze narrowed ever so slightly as a cruel smile took its form across a lean maw as to her shock. No doubt Foreststar was taken aback. The fem had literally dropped every moral she used to have. She lacked empathy, always did, but now she didn't care, she couldn't feel it anymore. The emotions were ever so numbed but two. Grief and anger. They consumed her so that she was blinded and manipulated.

"The Dark Forest? Known as The Place of No Stars. It opposes Starclan in the Starpelt, capturing every cat of hell into it's cradles," she growled, how did she not know of such a place? Everyone knew of the Dark Forest. It was basically hell and Starclan was heaven. "I am more myself than I ever was before," the chausie snarled, snapping jaws and lashing her long tail behind a massive frame of muscle unharmed from the drought as the goddess found her home in Bloodclan now, unlike Foreststar and Thunderclan in which had become the victim of such cruelty. Perhaps it was true, Cougarstar always held down such a horrible, bloodthirsty character from forming until now. She lost so many to death that she had become death itself.

"You're right, I'm not here to speak," she growled, eyes narrowing.

With the words dangling in the air did the goddess ever move so suddenly, massive muscles propelling the tyrantess forward where her forpaws dug into the soil, realing her hind legs powerfully off the ground and into the air for a roundhouse side kick, aiming for Foreststar's rib cage. Upon landing, a paw lashed out, bloody talons aiming to coil around Foreststar's hind leg with the speed of a striking cobra, claws sinking into her flesh in order to drag the limb out from under her body. If the Empress was successful with dragging the opposing female savagely down, Cougarstar's ivory incisors would propel forward in order to clench down upon the back of Foreststar's neck, heavy paws would smash horribly upon her shoulders to hold her down as she tore at her flesh.

  • OOC:

IC: Foreststar had never heard of any place with no stars until Pinefrost's warning minutes before--and if this was a place where cruel cats went, she didn't care except for the damage Starclan had warned her about. She didn't have time to think on it much though, as the battle she'd been anticipating seemed to be commencing.

She'd been expecting a common Clan cat's pounce rather than such a strange kick, so she moved to duck and take a step back--which ended up sending the kick into her shoulder, making her stumble sideways a little. To avoid another surprise, Foreststar leapt to one side, a favorite trick of hers to get on top of another cat or simply get out of the way in a way most Clan cats were unused to. In midair, she felt claws rake one of her hind legs. Ah, that must have been the swatting she'd been expecting first.

As she landed, the reflexive part of Foreststar's mind went through several options in a split second. She could play evasive and eventually run out of stamina, famine or not. She could trick Cougarstar into the river and probably fail because of the size difference, unless Cougarstar couldn't swim--which, as a Riverclan cat, she probably could. That kind of left fighting back, didn't it? Famine notwithstanding. Between her lessened strength and Cougarstar's size difference, she probably wasn't going to win--and she would be irked that Pinefrost had sent her to lose a life if he hadn't assured her that her Clanmates would find them soon. That in mind, she supposed her best bet was to kill (heh) time with a rare, ultra-serious battle until backup arrived. She could use a good workout. And unlike Cougarstar, Foreststar wasn't ashamed of accepting help.

Pivoting at her landing point, Foreststar used her momentum from the first leap to launch herself towards Cougarstar's flank, claws outstretched and teeth bared, hoping to knock Cougarstar over and score a few worse wounds in her side from the impact. Leave her pride with a parting gift, perhaps.

had so much fun writing this omg

rushed as heck though so probs some spelling errors- tried my best to write what i visuallized in my head so i'm trying not to make it come across as powerplaying(ish) haha b/c it's not <333

Her attacks were successful as the tyrant's boulder like paws smashed into Foreststar's shoulder bones before gnarly claws ripped through thin flesh and fragile bones in the woman's hind leg. With coiled claws snared within her leg, the fem managed to twisting sharply around to face the she-cat once more. But just as Foreststar landed did she turned her great mass of force into another attack, barrelling herself towards Cougarstar within close quartered range as she flew through the air with fangs and talons exposed.

Thinking with the intake of a breath, Foreststar planned on ramming her, maybe even knock her over and turning the tawny cat on her belly. Cougar could take the attack full frontal, though Foreststar's whole force would most likely knock her on her back and cause her to leave her stomach exposed. Leaping out of the way would leave an attack to her flank at such a close range and again, it would knock her off balance. Foreststar would have to take the unexpected.

Blinking, the chausie suddenly ducked against the ground, hind legs prepared to explode and uncoil with power, however, they remained still and quivering with force as she resembled a slab of stone. Foreststar would have to impact upon her back instead of slamming into her side as she predicted, if Foreststar was successful with landing upon the chausie's back, the Thunderclanner's great claws would curl within her flesh and blood would splatter about the premises. Pain would strike throughout her flesh and with Foreststar taking her landing upon Cougarstar's back and her claws within her spine would the Bloodclanner throw her weight backward, hind legs exploding in the blink of an eye as she hurdled towards the ground with Foreststar hopefully on her back. If Cougarstar was successful with her tuck and explode, she'd manage to break several ribs with such a mass amount of weight, knock the air from her lungs, or knock her head savagely against the rocks.

With blood spewing and hot breath escaping from parched maws did a cruel smile crawl upon horrifying features, the blood, the action, the betrayal Foreststar must have felt. Her own power. What fun!

If her first attack was successful, the ex-leader would twist around to pin the female against the ground with one hind paw pressed against the she-cat's belly, claws ripping forcefully within soft skin in an attempt to ride through flesh and blood down the length. Her hind paws wrapping around the she-cat's temples to throw her head up and then back down to crash against the drought hardened ground and pointed rocks repeatedly over and over again. Cougarstar was known for her savagery, and Foreststar would be her first account.

    "Speech."

  • OOC: I didn't see any powerplaying, you're good atm :) I hope I am too though omg you keep writing these extra paragraphs of 'if that worked' and Foreststar's just like 'I see what you're doin I've been in battle before'

also sorry I type so fast ;,; no pressure to reply or anything

IC: Foreststar had honestly been getting squished in battle a lot lately--it seemed to be a go-to tactic for cats bigger than her, though Starclan knew why. So as Cougarstar crouched under her rush, something in her mind clicked and prepared for the inevitable rear upwards. Instead of forcing her claws into the tawny ex-clanner as she would have liked, Foreststar instead turned her momentum down again to launch herself straight upwards into the air. A part of her mind vaguely wondered if she looked like a Skyclan cat. If Cougarstar hadn't realized it and twisted around to try to pin an airborn foe, Foreststar would stretch her back claws out to drive them into the former leader's back with the force of her fall. If Cougarstar tried to attack her as she came back down...well, there wasn't much she could do but try to roll away as she hit the ground.
