THRILL SEEKER — primary trope

adrenaline junkies: characters who seek out adventures and danger specifically because of the excitement. This can be positive, neutral, or negative: one can just as easily get their thrill from rescuing kidnapped victims, or from snowboarding in the middle of a blizzard, or from engaging in good old-fashioned highway robbery.

STEPFORD SNARKER — primary trope

the stepford snarker has intense feelings of sadness, anger, numbness, loneliness, or other negative emotions, but, for whatever reason, wants to hide these feelings from the people around them. whereas the stepford smiler hides these feelings by acting sweet and happy, the snarker hides them by being snide and sarcastic.

MANIPULATIVE BASTARD — primary trope

this is the guy who gets off on playing head games—clever and dangerous and lacking comedic overtones (usually). he or she always has the plan, but rather than do any work, the manipulative bastard prefers to play on other characters' emotions and then watch the victims destroy themselves as they waste their energy on fighting against fake dangers or their friends.

ANGRISH — secondary trope

a character is so angry, pissed off, or shocked that he or she is literally unable to form a coherent sentence. other strong emotions are sufficient to render a person unable to speak proper english (or whatever language is being spoken at the time), but shock, anger, and pure rage are the most common. it usually takes a little while for him or her to recover, at which point he or she explodes into rage normally.

DON'T YOU DARE PITY ME! — secondary trope

an injured or suffering character is approached by another, eager to help, but the injured party is offended. this reaction of humiliation and resentment may be spoken, acted upon, or merely felt, but it is some variation on "i don't want your pity," or "don't you dare pity me".

ROMANCING THE WIDOW — shipping trope

behold the young bride, blissfully happy with her fiance (or sometimes not...) until they die before their time. now she's single again, but disinterested in romance. either her former lover was a jerk, and she no longer trusts people, or she loved her lover so deeply that no suitor can seemingly compete with their memory.
