"dula op chit yu don gon, lilith. kik thru!" those words had been her mother's last, right before alva of the woods clan slit her throat. the young girl had been taken prisoner that day, tossed into a makeshift cell and guarded 24/7 by alva's best warriors. they were fearful of lilith, for she'd been trained from birth to be the best warrior the twelve clans had ever seen. over time, they grew to trust her and she became a warrior of the woods clan herself, thriving alongside the very people who'd held her captive for years.
yet lilith held no true loyalty to the woods clan. nightmares of the day they'd slaughtered her entire clan still plagued her. the commander of the twelve clans had decided to not to punish the woods clan for the slaughter, seeing as lilith's clan had not been one of the twelve. even now, after all these years, the woods clan still held lilith by the throat, threatening to kill the only thing she ever loved in order to keep her obedient
and she hated them for it
the once terrified young girl was now a formidable warrior, perched atop a tree branch. her baby blue eyes were pinned on the camp of the people who had become the woods clan's enemies and, in turn, hers as well: the sky people. she let out a sigh of frustration, tilting her head back and leaning against the tree, her mind drifting off to the event that had brought her to this exact moment.
"jus drein jus druan. you know the law." the orange-haired young woman was on her knees, blue eyes flashing as she glared up at alva. now was a time to mask the hatred in her gaze, for letting it be shown would only succeed in thwarting what she intended to do - save a life.
"she is innocent! she had no part in the crime -- she was not even there!"
"jus drein jus druan, lilith."
"homplei ai! homplei ai! homplei ai!" she was pleading with alva, traitorous tears running down her face at the thought of losing the bambi-eyed little girl, who now had a dagger at her chest because of lilith's mistakes.
"and kill an able bodied warrior? em ste ba a fyucha; she offers me nothing." the blonde's words triggered something in oranged-haired warrior and chaos erupted within the commander's chamber. the bambi-eyed girl screamed as she was shoved to the ground, alva's eyes were wild as she shouted at her warriors, who came at lilith from all angles. but the young woman took everything in stride. warrior after warrior fell at her feet until she reached a woman, no older than herself, who had no time to react as lilith wrapped an arm around her neck and held a dagger to her throat.
"maura!" alva made the mistake of taking a step forward, letting out a growl of frustration as lilith pressed harder with the dagger until it broke skin, blood trickling down the woman's neck.
"it must be frightening, knowing you could be losing someone so important to you in the blink of an eye." the dark-haired woman -- alva had called her "maura" -- was her daughter. everyone in the clan knew that maura was not to be touched, but lilith was desperate.
"jus drein jus druan, right, alva?" the blonde-haired woman snarled in response, glaring at the young woman as she continued to speak, "we've a common enemy, commander - the sky people. at the moment, they are more of a threat than the mountain men because they are so close. i am the best scout you have and one of your most skilled warriors."
"what is your point, lilith?"
"if you allow me to scout the area, to find out their weaknesses, we can take them out in one fell swoop." she could see the interest in her commander's eyes, which convinced her to continue, "but only if you spare her." the silence seemed to stretch on for hours as alva considered lilith's proposition. it was a win-win on both ends -- one threat would be eliminated and the young girl lilith held so close to her heart would be safe.
"come to the bridge three sunrises from now. if you've no information to help us eliminate this threat, i will kill her before your very eyes.
she had been so wrapped up in her own thoughts that she'd not heard the group of sky people sneaking up on her. she had not taken notice of them until it was too late. there was a sharp pain sprouting from the back of her head and before she could fully understand what was happening, she was plummeting to the ground. everything went black the moment she hit the ground.

the first thing she took note of is that she was alone, at least for now. but she was restrained, on display like some traitor. terror made her heart beat quicken and she thrashed against her restraints, snarling like a wild animal and screaming in frustration, "yu gon ogeda stedaun taim ai laik breik au!" they had no idea who they were dealing with, but they would all find out soon enough.
