Victoire looked to him slowly when he spoke, a bit surprised when he squeezed her hand again, but she did so gently in return. He was trying so hard to reassure her, and that surprised her a bit as well. He could just let her drive herself crazy with worry. But instead he said everything would be okay, she just had to trust him and herself.
When they reached her grandmothers apartment she was secretly a bit disappointed. She had wanted to speak to him a bit more on this, but she didn’t have long to be disappointed. Victoire was startled to see him taking his sunglasses off, and even more to see the burns. “Jamie...” she whispered as their gaze met. But that didn’t last long either as she leaned over the centre console. She hugged him gently, her eyes closing. “Just like old times.” She echoed quietly in agreement. She didn't pull back from the hug quickly, taking comfort in him wanting her with him. He had said that she was one of the most important things in his life, yet he had no idea just how much that meant to Victoire.
