  • She was relieved once again as he helped to steady her, and she took her movements a bit slower when he released her. “Thanks...” she mumbled, feeling a bit embarrassed about needing so much help. She wasn’t used to needing help from anyone besides Jamie and her grandmother. Then again, nobody beyond them ever offered her help so that wasn’t much of a surprise. But for now she allowed Dark to assist her whenever she stumbled, trying not to fall down the stairs.

Aleksandre immediately began to struggle against the ice, but it was fairly clear most of his mind was elsewhere. With Tsunami having hit him fairly hard emotionally, most of the fight had drained from him. But not all of it. Almost involuntarily he sent out more bolts of electricity with no sort of aim. It was as though all the energy he had absorbed before had been fighting to get out of him and without his hold on it, it would just burst out of him. Which would be bad for anyone near him unless he was contained.

"Don't mention it." Dark helped her the rest of the way down that flight of stairs, but unfortunately they had a lot more to go. Why Aleksandre had decided to live one of the highest floors in the hotel was beyond him but it made for a pretty inconvenient escape plan. "One down, fourteen more to go," Dark said, looking at the next flight of stairs they were meant to tackle. Hopefully the dizziness would wear off of her fast and they could start going a bit quicker. He wouldn't rush her, but the lights flickered dangerously for a moment before a light on the wall to their right burst into sparks. That didn't bode well for the fight on the roof.

    --

Jamie wasn't immediately hurt by the outburst of Aleksandre's powers, but he was temporarily blinded. During this moment of vulnerability, one of the stray strands of lightning struck him, knocking him off his feet. He hit the ground and rolled for a moment before cursing and holding his arms up protectively in front of his face. Once he regained his control a bit, he summoned shards of ice to rise in front of him and defend him from the villain's wild powers. He blinked a few more times, but his vision was still spotty. That and having been launched away from where he'd been standing wasn't a good combination. He needed to speed up the ice surrounding Aleksandre, but if he couldn't see his foe, he couldn't cast his own powers that way. Cursing again, he tried to listen for something that would give the boy's position away, but with all the electricity crackling around him, it was hard to pin-point any one sound. All he could hope now, was that his ice shield he'd created was hiding him from Aleksandre's view and protecting him from any other attacks. Until he got his vision back, he was a sitting duck.

  • An audible sigh escaped Victoire’s lips as he reminded her how far down they had to go. “You know, it’d be helpful if instead of being able to catch things on fire, burn things, and hurt people if I could like... fly.” While she sounded a bit sarcastic, there was an underlying tone of bitterness in her voice. She hated whatever had chosen or given her her powers. She’d do almost anything to get rid of them. And with that though she sent her hands a sour look.

Just moments after though she jumped into Dark’s side with a yelp as the light on the wall burst into sparks. “Okay, Okay. Focusing on walking.” She muttered, mostly to herself. She had often spoken like this when they were younger, when only Jamie could hear her.

Fortunately for Jamie, the busrt of unplanned electricity had also blinded Aleksandre. So he had no target to fire at, and was luckily not attacking Tsunami. “I will prove you wrong!” He had begun to yell, not knowing Tsunami currently couldn’t see well and he was giving himself away. Well, he never said he was the brightest Villian of the set.

  • they walked down the stairs and Victoire bitterly commented on her powers, Dark smiled sympathetically. He'd been there. He knew what it was like to hate the powers he'd seemingly cursed with. He was about to say something when the light burst and she had jumped into his side. Immediately he caught and steadied her before allowing her to walk on down the stairs. She spoke to herself and he decided not to interrupt her. He hoped that hadn't been a bad sign with the lights... James was smart, but everyone made mistakes... Shaking himself of the thoughts, he continued following her.

    --

Jamie was still blind. Despite it being dark outside, his eyes were dancing with a bright white light that made it near impossible for him to focus his eyes on anything. Rubbing fiercely at his eyes, he tried to relieve some of the pain, but failed. His only hope now was to end this quickly before Aleksandre got ahold of himself and took advantage of his weakness.

Combining the context clues that the villain was screeching at the top of his lungs and that James hadn't been friend yet, he guessed Aleksandre was still stuck in the ice. Eyes squeezed shut, Jamie shakily stood himself up. His arm was warm and stung a bit from where he'd skidded on the ground, but he didn't have time to worry about the injuries he'd received. What was a little more concerning was the hot pain in his side where his bullet wound was healing. He doubted he'd opened the wound again, but putting any pressure at all on his legs was incredibly difficult. Pushing through the pain, he took a heavy step forward, groaning a bit at the pain. He followed the sounds of Aleksandre's yelling and cursing, going slow and listening closely. As he got closer, he was able to block stray bolts of electricity. Soon enough he was standing right next to the other boy. "Shut up!" He yelled, casting both of his hands outwards, grasping Aleksandre and effectively covering the rest of him with ice, stopping over his mouth, just below his nose. The existing ice hardened, incapacitating him and hopefully solving the problem for the time being.

Still blind, he stumbled backwards before slowly sitting and resting his back against something sturdy. He was exhausted and he couldn't see and his entire body ached. Using a small bit of the energy he had left, Jamie summoned a blanket of cool water and placed it over his eyes for some relief. All he wanted now was to just fall asleep...

  • Victoire held her injured wrist to her chest as they walked, and not because it was hurting. If she hadn’t been injured she might’ve been more willing to fight back against Aleksandre and she wouldn’t have been kidnapped. She had worried Jamie... then again, if she we’re less of a coward she would just tell Jamie what she could do. But she couldn’t imagine how he’d react, especially knowing fire is what killed her parents.

Tsunami successfully enclosed Aleksandre within ice, and he finally ceased his yelling, realising he had been defeated. As much as he hated it and didn’t want to admit it aloud, he had been beaten and now Victoire would stay here while he was imprisoned. He hadn’t gotten anything he wanted, and that was infuriating. But, at this point his powers had been rendered useless. Victoire was probably one of few who could escape Tsunami’s icy prison if she tried. Not that she would.

No worries, my friend! I'm sorry I'm still slow on the responses! We've been driving a lot and I've been trying to avoid using my data ^_^

Dark was moving as fast as he could with Victoire at his side, but he suddenly stopped when the lights turned back to normal. He paused, looking up and around in confusion for a moment. "I think... I think it's over." Part of him wanted to jump to the roof and back real quick, but he couldn't risk leaving her. Besides, the electricity had gone out which meant Tsunami had been successful in taking the guy down. That was good. "How would you feel about jumping again? I know it's not pleasant, but it would get us to the bottom of the stairs a lot faster." He didn't want to rush her, but if they weren't careful, the police would be showing up soon and they couldn't risk getting Tsunami caught.

  • Victoire stopped when he did, suddenly finding that even though she had tried to convince him to let her go she didn’t really want to be alone. Even if it was over, she had still be kidnapped and all she wanted was to be with jamie right now. When he suggested jumping again she began to nod even before he finished speaking. “Yeah... yeah, let’s do that.” Her voice was quiet, but that was normal and she was still determined to get out of here as quickly as possible.

  • it’s all good and I understand!! Unfortunately for me, my mom’s boyfriend is awful and when I got an email saying there was a problem with the payment (using his credit card) he said it’s not his problem and I need to fix it myself.

  • ooc:

I'm sorry you're having a rough time of it :( Hopefully things will work themselves out soon, but until then, you have nothing to worry about from me :)

    ic:

Dark looked at her for a moment before nodding and taking her hand in his. "Hold on," he said before closing his eyes and slipping into the shadows. A moment later they were on the ground floor, a little shaky, but okay. They'd just jumped down twelve floors and Dark could no longer say he wasn't feeling the effects of using his powers. When it was just him, he could jump all day without problem, but jumping another person was more taxing. The trip back would be easier, especially with all the night time shadows to draw from.

Turning his attention to her again, he tried not to look winded. "Are you okay? I've heard it's not as bad the second time around. You get used to it." It had taken Dodge a while to master the trick, but he'd never had the sickness that had come with it. His sister had helped him test everything and now she was as good at jumping with him as he was, himself. Reaching out his hand in case she needed steadying again, he studied her face carefully so that even if she lied to him, he'd know whether she was good to go or not.

After a moment he looked up and down the street, suspicious of how empty it was at this time of night. He shook his head, pulling his hood over his face a little more. Turning back to her, he met her gaze steadily. "I need you to tell me where you live so I can take you home. Your friend said he might go out and look for you some more after we left, so I wouldn't try going over to see him. Call him and he'll come to you, I'm sure." He knew she'd want to see Jamie, but considering the current status of things, that wasn't a very good idea. This was the best way to get everyone taken care of without revealing anyone's life-changing secrets.

  • Yeah, thanks :)

Victoire held tightly onto his hand, she didn’t want to know what would happen if they accidentally let go. She was relieved when their feet hit solid ground once more, at least until she felt the same wave of dizziness and nausea once more. She took his hand again to steady herself while her body adjusted, having a far less severe reaction this time.

“Technically That was better than the first time.” She agreed reluctantly. “But that doesn’t mean I’m jumping to do it again.” She noticed he seemed more tired than he had been before they had jumped, which was part of why she wouldn’t suggest they do it again. She could handle the nausea, but if Tsunami needed him and he was worn out, it wouldn’t be good.

But, that didn’t mean she liked his following words any more. Until she realised that meant he was okay. “So he is okay?” She tried to keep the desperation out of her voice and remain at just being friendly. “Okay enough to be in the streets alone?” That was what made her worrried. Jamie and Dark didn’t think it was safe for her to be out alone, was it safe enough for Jamie injured as he was? But she could call him from home. She wasn’t sure where her phone had ended up in all of this, but it was no longer in her back pocket, courtesy of shallow jean pockets. “Yeah... um... okay.” She bit her lip as she tried to figure out how to get to the new apartment from here.

  • The young man couldn't help but laugh. "Glad you're not feeling as rough this time." He smiled warmly at her before letting go of her hand so she could steady herself. Looking around through the shadows, he considered what to do next. He didn't know where exactly she lived and he wasn't sure he could jump there even if he did. He'd been supercharged earlier, but now he was starting to feel a bit fatigued and that wasn't a good feeling to have when trying to jump with another person. Shaking himself mentally, he turned and looked at her again, his dark brown eyes showing through his mask.

"Okay, do you know where we are or how far we might be from your house?" He watched her carefully and listened to the tone in her voice as she asked her question. "Look, your friend wasn't hurt as bad as you think. He got hit on the head, but he was okay. I don't want to let you wander the streets alone because we're in the middle of a janky part of town, your arm is hurt, which very well may lessen your ability to fight back if something were to happen and while I know you have... other means of defending yourself, it's pretty obvious you don't want anyone to know you can do that." He wanted her to understand why he was doing things the way he was. It wasn't her he didn't trust, it was everyone else in the city. "Besides, your friend Jamie is probably driving around looking for you or something. He'd be a bit safer in his car than he would be on foot." As he spoke, he hoped she wouldn't walk by James's house and see his car still sitting out front. Dark had moved it so no one would be suspicious, but with Tsunami doing who knew what up on that roof, Dark doubted it was a good idea to take her by the house.

Tearing his gaze away from hers again, he scanned the surrounding area for any sign of suspicious behavior. The streets were too quiet, like James had said earlier. It was like a calm before a storm, everyone and everything was waiting anxiously for the ball to drop. Dark wasn't too easy to stir up, but he was a bit nervous at the prospect of whatever was lurking out there without their knowledge. Looking at Victoire once more, he kept a steady face. "What's your address? I'd say it's about time we get you home."

  • Victoire listened to the super as he spoke, knowing what he was saying was true. All of it. But, that didn't mean she had to like it. "Okay... Yeah, I get it." She let out a soft sigh. Jamie was well enough to be out looking for her and that was good. She'd call him as soon as she got home.

"Ah, we can just head to the high school? We just moved there, I don't remember the address to the apartment." She admitted quietly. Besides, once they reached the school they wouldn't be in as bad a part of town and she could head home alone. That would let Dark return to Tsunami and put her mind to ease about leaving him alone. "That would probably be easiest."

Dark had no intention of leaving her side until he knew she was safely inside her home. It wouldn't take him long to jump back to where he'd left Tsunami and their troublemaker, but he'd still feel a lot better if he could get back. He could imagine the police would've been called now that the electricity was back to normal and there was no interference with the nearby cell towers. It made him nervous how strong this Aleksandre jerk was and the fact that his powers were super effective against both him and Tsunami didn't help him to feel better.

Pull yourself together, Dark. You've got a job to do. Mentally shaking himself, he returned his attention to her in time for her to finish what she'd been saying. A master of multi-tasking, he nodded. "To the school, then. This way." Leading the way back towards the school, Dark could feel his energy returning. This was why he liked working at night so much. There were so many shadows to draw from and the darker the dark that surrounded him, the faster he could recharge. That would be incredibly helpful.

As they jogged up to the front of the school, he read the time across the electric sign out front. It was well past midnight and he could hear the sounds of sirens in the distance. Cursing in his mind, Dark turned to face Victoire again. "Which way from here?" He kept his voice patient and calm, despite his desperate need to get back to the roof to help Tsunami. Not only that, they'd have to find some way to communicate to the police the extent of the villain's powers so the poor boys in blue wouldn't be caught off guard. This and a million other thoughts were zipping around Dodge's brain as usual as he tried to work out a plan in his head to get everything accomplished as quickly as possible.

  • Victories hurried along with him, wanting to get home as fast as she could to call Jamie and make sure he knew she was safe and he could go home. Having been hit on the head she didn’t want him driving around looking for her. She couldn’t help but let out a sigh of relief when they jogged up to the front of the school. She knew trying to get him to head back was a waste of time, so when he spoke again she just headed off quickly down the street towards the apartment.

“This way.” She told him simply, picking up the pace a bit. She knew her grandmother would begin to worry as well, especially if Jamie had told her already. And she didn’t want either of them to worry for her.

((I should be getting my laptop ina. Week! So then my posts will be longer and faster!))

Ironically, my computer just broke and I'm gonna probably be on mobile for the majority of the time until I get it fixed it get a new one ^_^" We're going to get it checked out tomorrow, so fingers crossed

As they approached her apartment, Dark stopped at the edge of the parking lot, where the shadows ended. He watched her for a moment before speaking. "This is where I leave you. I'll make sure you make it into your house safely, but I don't want to alarm any of your neighbors or whoever's waiting up for you in there." Besides that, the shadows just felt more comfortable. After all, he was Dark.

Glancing up at the sky to find where the moon was and gauge about what time it was, his jaw clenched a bit. There was still a few hours left before dawn, but it was well past midnight. James needed to get home and honestly, so did Dodge. His mom worked night shift at the hospital and his sister to care of the rest of their siblings while he was on patrol, but he wasn't usually out all night. A bit of anxiety chewed at his stomach again as he thought about his best friend back in that roof. As soon as Victoire was safely in her home, he'd be gone, back to help in the fight if necessary. Dodge just hoped it wasn't too late.

  • Oh no!! I hope it’s a quick and easy fix for you!))

Victoire paused just in front of him, glancing back. “Thank you... and thank Tsunami for me? That when far better than if I had tried to get out alone.” She paused briefly, hoping he didn’t intend to tell anyone about her. “And please... please don’t tell anyone about...” she glanced at her hands before shaking her head and hurrying to the stairs to head inside the apartment.

She had no choice but to trust him. He had gotten her out of one mess however and she didn’t think he’d put her in another. But she knew he’d have places to be, so she didn’t stop again. She was inside quickly, her grandmother having left the door unlocked for her.

  • ooc:

As it turns out, there's very likely no fixing it :( We're gonna have to find a new one, but we can't even go look at prices until Monday... So until then, it's like I said: everything's through mobile!

    ic:

Dark offered a comforting smile as she thanked him. When she mentioned her secret again, he simply shook his head. "I told you, your secret is safe with me. Trust me, I'm good at keeping secrets." If only she knew. Stepping back further into the shadows, he practically disappeared completely. From the dark, he watched her until she was safely back in her apartment before letting out a sigh. One mission accomplished... Now all he had to do was get back and make sure Tsunami was holding his own.

    --

James had been in and out of consciousness for the past half hour, his entire body completely drained and aching. His vision had come back a little, though it was mostly just shapes. It also seemed as though every object he saw had its own portion of the sun fused into it, making his head throb more.

He heard sirens as he came to for the nth time. Jamie knew he needed to get out of there before the police arrived, but he couldn't make himself move. If the police found him now, it was all over. Tsunami would be done for. Suddenly, the sound of footsteps came rushing towards him. Despite his exhaustion, Jamie held his arm up weakly, summoning an ice spear to his shaky grip. The second the runner identified himself, however, the spear dissolved and Jamie's hand fell into his lap. "Don't worry, Tsunami... It's Dodge."

  • Aww that’s too bad! Well, if you have a student email I think you can get some sort of discount on dell computers? I just got a gaming laptop from them for $791 and I think I used my school email to get discounts?))

Victoire quickly reached the living room where her grandmother had left her phone out. She picked it up and quickly began to dial Jamie’s number before pausing. She had his family’s number from before memorised, but when she lost her phone she had lost his number. So now she had no way to contact him and tell him she was safe.

A pit grew in her stomach at the idea of causing him to worry especially while he was hurt. But she had no way to stop it... maybe she should tell him about her powers, in case something happened then he wouldn’t have to worry about her. But did she really want to risk exposing herself and possibly hurting him? No, she decided. It wasn’t worth it. It wouldn’t be long before he’d go back to everyone else and then he wouldn’t have to worry about her anyways. It was simpler that way. And hey, maybe she’d confess her feelings after he stopped paying attention to her, get it off her chest without ruining their friendship.

A soft sigh escaped her and she set her phone down, heading into her room. Again with those thoughts... she didn’t want to think about that happening until it did. She sat on her bed, pulling her knees to her chest, careful of her injured arm. There were so many things she wanted to do right now and she didn’t think any of them were good.

  • ooc:

Honestly, we won't know anything about what's gonna happen yet, but my Mom's a kindergarten teacher and she loves to get discounts on things. She's gonna be helping me and if there's anything we can get accomplished, she'll be sure we get it done right. But absolutely, thank you for the advice!

    ic:

Before the police arrived, Dodge managed to scribble a quick note on how to contain Aleksandre and get Tsunami to his feet. With his help, James limped over to the edge of the building before seeing the police pulling up at the base of the building. While Dodge didn't know for sure, he had a feeling, his friend was having more trouble than just being exhausted. Jamie's shoulder was torn up a little and there was a dark red stain on his left side, but the blanket of water that covered his friend's eyes was what was curious to him.

Backing away from the edge of the roof, Dodge steeled himself for what was about to have to happen. "Alright, bud... I know you're not so much up for this right now, but we're gonna have to jump." James mumbled a little, though his words weren't coherent. "Yeah, I know... But it's going to be okay. We've got to get out of here." There was no response this time and Jamie's head lolled a bit. The water surrounding his face dropped and splashed at their feet. "Okay... That's probably not a good sign..." Taking a couple deep breaths, Dark tried to prepare himself. They'd have to have a really good jump to get past the police perimeter and after jumping with another person twice already tonight, the young man was a little concerned. Nonetheless, they had to get out of there and no matter how hesitant he was, they'd just have to get it done.

"Alright, T... Hang on..." With one more big breath, Dark closed his eyes and a moment later, they were standing in the abandoned warehouse they'd played in as kids. As soon as they touched ground, Dark collapsed as well, unable to hold himself up on account that his legs and arms were completely translucent. Cursing and rolling himself onto his back, he looked down and frowned. He knew good and well this was possible, but he didn't think it would be this bad so soon. Tsunami lied on the floor next to him now, coughing violently. He moved away just a bit before retching and then coughing some more. Obviously he hadn't been prepared for the jump, but from experience, Dodge knew he'd be fine. Looking back down at his own limbs, he was relieved to see them coming back into focus. He was going to have to be a lot more careful if he wanted to avoid fading into oblivion.

Once his legs stabilized again, Dodge stood up shakily and moved to his friend's side. He pulled the mask away and tried to analyze what had been wrong. Immediately, he was concerned by the red, burn like marks that stretched away from his eyes. The marks obviously weren't deep enough to scar, but they would be hard to hide the next day. Then there was the wound on his shoulder. Obviously he'd scraped himself up in a fall or something and again, there was nothing there that wouldn't heal and disappear. Even upon investigating the wound at his side, he discovered it was nothing more than a bad scrape over the area he'd been shot. Thanks to whoever had cauterized his wound, the gunshot would likely not open unless directly and intentionally cut. Overall, he seemed mostly okay. Of course, he wasn't responding to anything and that was what worried Dodge. His only option now, was to wait.
