  • Hecate had found a home, fully furnished, and finally finished adding their own touches. A bowl of fresh flowers sat on the table simply because the kitten thought they were pretty. And now that their house was ready, it was time to invite someone over! They marched outside proudly and searched for the funny rat thing they had seen before. "Doouug!"

    DOUG

  • ? ✧ ? — If Doug had known that he was described as a "funny rat thing", he would have been either, A, very amused, or B, very VERY amused. He was described incorrectly many times before, but funny rat things was by far the most entertaining. The kitten was licky that Doug was in the camp at the time; lately he was taking hikes around the territory to add more to his knowledge about his new clan.

    The high-pitched cry of his name didn't draw only his attention, as a few npcs were also looking in the direction of where the source of the voice was coming from. The beaver thought he could recognize the mewl as the one of the small juvenile feline that only spoke in a few words each sentence. What did they want with him? It's natural for young children to be curious, but Doug didn't think the toddler would remember him.

    Doug searched for a while before sighting the infant in front of a house. This might just come to be a bit off, the aquatic rodent though before speaking."Err, hello? Was it you who called my name?", Doug asked with a small tone of fun in his wording. Children love that stuff.

  • "Mmhmm!" they confirmed with a nod, pointing with one paw back at their house. "Movie!" Their language skills were actually improving, meaning that they could speak in better sentences but it was so tiring mentally that they refused. They could get their point across just fine like this. Hecate smiled at him. He was a friendly guy, even if they didn't quite understand him.

  • ? ✧ ? — "A movie?", he repeated questioningly. Wait- was that house theirs? Or did they just find it and set up camp inside? They must have, judging by the furniture he could see through a front window. Still, it must be against safety regulations to let a child live by theirself. No matter; they'll be old enough in a matter of weeks. "Is this your house, buddy?, he asked playfully once more, "You say you have a tv inside of it?"

    Thinking "Speaking" Attacking

  • "Yep! Mine," they declared. With a wave of the same paw, they started towards the house and skipped inside. The TV was indeed working and currently on the menu for the Disney movie Lilo and Stitch. "Found it!" They had quickly discovered the joys of animated movies and occasionally would find a new one to spend days obsessing over.

  • ? ✧ ? — Doug simply followed the young'un inside, making an 'oooh' or an 'aaaah' everytime they spoke. The fact that, -Hecate, was it?-, found this house all by themself, astounded Doug. You'd think someone else would find it first and proceed to live in it. Or maybe someone else DID live in it, explaining how the furniture didn't seem to have any flaws whatsoever.

    Lilo and Stitch was an animation Doug had never seen before. All he knew was that there was a blue alien with four arms and some hawaiian girl. "You've probably seen this one before, eh?", he asked the child once more, "Do you like it?"

    Thinking "Speaking" Attacking

  • Doug's amazement made Hecate feel great about themself. The kitten didn't have a well-understood concept of self esteem just yet but the way things looked, theirs would be high. When he asked the question, they nodded with excitement. "My favorite!" They had begun to learn some of the songs and would even occasionally mumble along in Hawaiian. They butchered the words sometimes but their progress was still something they were proud of.

  • ? ✧ ? — "Then this sounds like this will be fuun!" Doug said in a cheery-sounding tone that seemed to make the infant joyful, inspiring the beaver to put on the act even more. So far, the he was enjoying the break from the labour that was putting together his stone hut, something that lucky young Hecate didn't have to experience.

    Suddenly, Doug began to think. What happened to this kit's parents? Surely something must have happened if the baby was living by themself, in a house without any parental figures? Doug had to stifle the urge to ask the question in the meantime; Hecate seemed to be enjoying themself now, and if something tragic happened, and Doug brought it up and made a child cry, he would feel just awful.

    Thinking "Speaking" Attacking

  • Oh, boy, had something tragic happened! Thank the gods Doug hadn't asked because the child would have promptly burst into tears as they recalled the slaughter of literally everyone they loved by a rabid hellhound. But right now, they were happy, giggling at the beaver's tone and nodding along. They fumbled with the TV remote for a moment before hitting the button they had figured out started the movie.

  • ? ✧ ? — Doug just watched as the first logos flashed on the screen. Hopefully this movie was entertaining. Hecate seemed to know this television quite well. Sanguinely the child didn't spend all of his time in front of it and brainwash him into a World of Warcraft playing zombie. As it was only showing symbols (STILL?!), the only entertaining thing to do was ask Hecate some more questions. "Hey, buddy, do you know what I am?". The child probably had no clue to what a beaver was, but it would be fun watching the child try to guess.

    Thinking "Speaking" Attacking

    //it's funny because I am partly a World of Warcraft playing zombie

  • They turned back and studied him carefully. "Big rat. With a funny tail." They scrunched their nose slightly and grinned at him. "And weird teeth." They stood on their back legs and patted his cheek gently. "Funny."

    //same lmao

  • ? ✧ ? — Doug chuckled at Hecate's description of him. They said the best answer possible for someone who has never seen a beaver before. Doug started to say, "Spot on description! But there's actually a name for people like me-", but was cut off by the beginning of the movie; the logos had ended, after long last.

    //jesus i'm low in muse atm. gotta post elsewheres to build it back up again.

    Thinking "Speaking" Attacking

  • Their attention snapped to the movie but they leaned over and whispered: "What's the name?" One of their rare longer sentences.

    //my muse has died
    //also im emotionally drained atm lmao

  • ? ✧ ? — The large rodent was caughr off guard when Hecate continued on with the little game. Doug smirked, and, with a low voice, went on to playfully explain "Why, I am what you'd call a beaver! We are notorious for clogging up rivers and lakes with dams that we build out of sticks and wood." Doug coughed, and then cleared his throat. Doing that voice was very hard on his beaver lungs. He continued to explain, but not in a silly tone this time, "We are also known for chewing down trees, and for our oversized teeth.", . Hopefully that taught the kid a thing or two about beavers.

    Thinking "Speaking" Attacking

  • Hecate furrowed their eyebrows in confusions. "Wha's a dam?" they asked, blending the words together slightly. They glanced back at the movie occasionally- they loved this one and they hoped Doug did too.
